Stan W. Daniel

Mr. Stan W. Daniel, age 75, of Thomaston, died peacefully Friday, July 5, 2024, at his residence.

A celebration of life for Stan will be held on Wednesday, July 10, at 11:00 AM, in the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Wednesday morning at the funeral home.

Stan was born at home in Yatesville, Georgia on November 14, 1948, a son of the late James Daniel and the late Lenora Weems Daniel. He was a 1966 graduate of Yatesville High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He later graduated from Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. He was the first in his family to graduate from college. He retired from Georgia Power after 30 years of employment. He loved to work and loved what he did. Following his retirement with Georgia Power, he returned to what he did in the military and was a lab tech at Upson Regional Medical Center but was soon promoted to Chemistry Supervisor for about 6 years. He loved his devoted cat companion Oscar, and was never happier than when he was telling stories or talking about food he wanted to cook and enjoy, especially sandwiches and hot dogs but always envied anyone that could take a huge bite because his bite was so small. He was never happier than when he had a fishing pole in his hand or plowing the earth for his garden, and could often be found tinkering around his beloved barn that was lost in a fire two years preceding his death. He also never missed an episode of Jeopardy. Stan will be remembered by his family as a jokester and someone who liked to have fun especially with his best friend and brother in law, Tommy Hanson who he is currently fishing with in Heaven surrounded by all who loved and received him at his arrival.

Stan is survived by his beloved daughter, Holly (Jeremy) Ransom of Thomaston; son, Jeff Tucker of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; his eleven grandchildren, and his six great grandchildren. He also is survived by his niece, Crystal (Wes) Stubbs and their two children.

In addition to his parents, Stan was preceded in death by his daughter, George Gina Daniel, his siblings, Jimmy Daniel, Sylvia Daniel, Sandra Fowler, and Theresa Hammock.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions in Stan's memory to the American Cancer Society, 233 12th Street, Ste. 710, Columbus, GA 31901 or to the Lost-N-Found Youth, 2585 Chantilly Dr. Atlanta, GA 30324.
