Brenda Joyce Williams Wright

Ms. Brenda Joyce Williams Wright age 81 of Thomaston, GA died Friday, July 5, 2024peacefully in her home on Wright Farm in Thomaston,GA. Ms. Wright was born in Anderson,SC November 21, 1942 to the late James Edward Williams and Sadie Hilley Williams. Ms.Wright lived most of her childhood in Miami, Fl and later moved to Georgia eventually settlingin Thomaston. A longtime resident of Thomaston, Ms. Wright was formerly employed atThomaston Federal Savings and Loan, Upson County School System Superintendent’s Office,Georgia High School Association, and Crown Manufacturing. Additionally, Ms. Wrightpreviously owned and operated Love All Around Daycare. Ms. Wright enjoyed working with thepublic and was known for her infectious smile. Ms. Wright and her late husband owned andoperated Wright Farm in Thomaston where they raised poultry and cattle.

 Ms. Wright served several roles in the community throughout the years. She was a Cub Scout

den mother, member of Upson High School Band Booster, and member of Upson High School

Football Booster. In earlier years, Ms. Wright served as the President of Thomaston Business and

Professional Women’s Club. In more recent years, Ms. Wright was employed as a staff member

for the Upson County Elections, and she served on the hospital Auxiliary for Upson Regional

Medical Center.

 

In 1989, Ms. Wright joined Mountain View Baptist Church of Thomaston. Ms. Wright oversaw

the church funeral ministry for several years as well as coordinated the senior adult travel. Ms.

Wright enjoyed being a church greeter and fellowshiping with the Women of Faith at MVBC.

 

In addition to her parents, Ms. Wright was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 29 years,

Joe Robert Wright. Also preceding her in death was her sweet, charismatic son, James “Jimmy”

Coleman Freeman, Jr. and his lovely wife Brenda Winkles Freeman.

 

Ms. Wright is survived by her daughter, Julie (Greg) Weatherford Kilby and her grandchildren

Cole, Cace, Cade, and Janie Kilby all of Thomaston. Ms. Wright had several step-children and

step-grandchildren.

 

Survivors also include her sisters Jimmie Hooper (Anderson, SC) and Nancy Webb (Thomaston,

GA) as well as her brother, Larry (Jennie) Williams (Morganton, GA). She is also survived by

her sister-in-law Mary (Phil) Waldrop (Hogansville, GA).

 

Special survivors include Ms. Wright’s step-granddaughter, Kacey (Garrett) Spivey and their

sons Landon and Grayson. Ms. Wright is also survived by James (Cyndi) Weatherford (Davie,

FL), Todd Weatherford (Thomaston, GA), Carl Weatherford (Roswell, GA), David (Julie)

Weatherford (Yatesville, GA), and Jill (Tim) Weatherford Knight (Milner, GA.

 

Funeral Services will be held on Monday July 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from Mountain View Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home On Sunday July 7, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
