MISS COLEEN VIRGINIA COE

Miss Coleen Virginia Coe, 77 of Thomaston died March 28, 2019 at Upson Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be Sunday March 31, 2019 12 Noon in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Gardens in Tyrone, GA.
Miss Coe was born May 16, 1941 in Rockford, IL to the late Luther Lee and Ethel Virginia Byram Coe, Sr.
She was a member of Tyrone Baptist Church and worked some with McDonald's.
Miss Coe was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Luther Lee Coe, II
Survivors include her sisters, Joan Kathleen Coleman of Can Ridge, TN and Cheryl Elizabeth Greeson of Thomaston, nieces and nephews, Tracy McGill, Kelly Long, Angela Coe-Vinson, Jason Coleman, Luke Coe, Gabriel Greeson and Sirrena Solis and numerous great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday March 31, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon at Coggins Funeral Home.

MRS. LOIS PAUL

Mrs. Lois Paul age 87 of Thomaston Ga, died Thursday March 28, 2019 at her sons residence in Cleveland Ga. 
Mrs. Paul was born on April 18, 1931 in Baker County Ga, to the late James Jackson and the late Cora Nix Jackson. She was formerly employed with The Upson County Sheriff's Department and Thomaston Police Department where she worked as a crossing guard for many years. Mrs. Paul was a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband David Paul, brothers J.T. Jackson, Bubba Jackson, sisters Sarah Fulmore, Betty Hudgins, Eunice Isler.
Survivors include her sons Mr. Jerry (Debbie) Paul of Canton Ga, Mr. Jimmy (Tammy) Paul of Cleveland Ga, Mr. Ronnie (Diane) Paul of Thomaston Ga, brother Mr. Bobby (Mary) Jackson of Leary, Ga, sister Mrs. Celestine (Hollis) Adams of Arlington Ga, grandchildren Jeni (Bob) Springer, Taylor (Craig) Worland, Alesia Paul, Abbi (Ehren) Harris, Luke Paul, David Paul, Ana Paul, great grandchildren Joseph and Julie Worland.

MRS. MARTHA PINNELL PHARRIS

Mrs. Martha Pinnell Pharris, 71 of The Rock, GA died March 26, 2019 at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, GA.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Pharris was born June 5, 1947 in Lafayette, AL to the late Ben Green and Evelyn Smith Pinnell. She graduated of Auburn University in 1969, retired from the Upson County School System with 19 years of service and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, Dan Pharris of The Rock, GA, daughter, Robin Pharris of Hendersonville, NC and cousins, David L. Morgan of Columbus, GA , Anne G. Allen of Tucker, GA and Charlotte Dewberry of Cumming, GA.

MR. LARRY CHANDLER

Mr. Larry Chandler age 70 of Meansville Ga, died Tuesday March 26, 2019 at his residence.
Mr. Chandler was born on March 11, 1949 in Taylor County Ga, to the late Jack and Mary Belle Moore Chandler.  He was an hvac installer for Bishop Heat & Air, member of Emory's Chapel and a Veteran of the U.S. Army. 
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Lynn Dunlap Chandler of Meansville, Georgia, son Jason Chandler of Atlanta, Ga, brother Steve (Sharon) Chandler of Thomaston, Ga., and several nieces and nephews.   He is preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Dumas.
Funeral services for Mr. Chandler will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Upson Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Friday, March 29, 2019, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.   

MRS. KATHY THERESA HORNBACHER

Mrs. Kathy Theresa Hornbacher age 64 of Thomaston Ga, died Wednesday March 27, 2019 at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Hornbacher was born November 5, 1954 in Thomaston to the late Fred and Mildred Brunson. She worked 16 years in the sewing room at Thomaston Mills before becoming disabled.
Survivors include her husband, Scott Hornbacher of Thomaston, aunt, Peggy Dawson of Thomaston, numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Janice Louise Shipman Daniel age 68 of Molena Ga, died Wednesday March 27, 2019 at Upson Regional Medical Center. 
Mrs. Daniel was born on January 2, 1951 in Orange County Fl, to the late Cecil Harlan Shipman and the late Minnie Clarice Norred Shipman. She was formerly employed with Chief Manufacturing where she worked as a welder until her retirement. Mrs. Daniel was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers Jimmy Shipman, Raymond Shipman and Billy Joe Shipman.
Survivors include her husband Mr. Stanley Daniel of Molena Ga, son Mr. Timothy Dwayne (Amanda) Cook of Molena Ga, sister Mrs. Edith Atkins of S.C., 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, special niece Mrs. Tina (Wade) Collier of Lagrange Ga.

MR. RUSSELL EUGENE DAY

Mr. , age 96, died Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at his residence in Meansville, Ga.
Mr. Day was born in Upson County to the late James Leonard and Alta Day. He was owner/operator of Home and Business Protection Company, member of the Thomaston Seventh Day Adventist Church, and WWII Veteran of the US Navy on the USS TEXAS.
He is survived by his sons, Andrew W. Day of Thomaston, Barry Day of Palm Coast FL, and Randy Day of Las Vegas NV; sister, Mattalyn Haynes of Stone Mountain GA; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Cecile Day; daughters, Eugenia Day Bullard and Deborah Day Dubke; granddaughter, Sophia Mariel Bullard; sisters, Helen Hines, Virginia Van Cleave, Charlotte Brooks, and Peggy Day; brothers, Stanley Day, Hansen Day, and Gywn Day.

Mr. Smith was born on November 19, 1952 in Waycross Ga, to Reddon Sweat Smith and the late Hollis Smith. He owned and operated Big Chic for many years.

Mrs. Brenda Christine Mercer age 59 of Meansville Ga, died Friday March 22, 2019 at Upson Regional Medical Center. 
Mrs. Mercer was born on December 19, 1959 in Duluth Ga, to the late Charlie Hoyt Dunn and the late Ivelene Cleveland Dunn. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Mercer was a member of Rehoboth Nazarene Church.
Survivors include her husband William Mercer of Meansville Ga, daughter Melissa (Benji) Strange of Molena Ga, son Chad Turner of Meansville Ga, brothers Johnny (Janice) Young of Molena Ga, Barney Dunn of Meansville Ga, sisters Betty (George) Barfield of Byron Ga, Rhoda Dunn of Meansville Ga, 1 grandchild, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Vaughn was born on November 1, 1958 in Thomaston Ga, to the late Hugh Edwin Thompson and the late Myrtice Parker Thompson. She was employed with the Upson County School System as a lunch room attendant at Upson Lee South Elementary. Mrs. Vaughn was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband Mr. Johnny Vaughn of Thomaston Ga, brother Mr. Bubba (Susan) Thompson of Thomaston Ga, sister Mrs. Judy (Kipp) Dingler of Bolingbroke Ga.

Mrs. Ruby Grace "Gracie" Lloyd Helms, age 90, of Meansville, died Sunday, March 17, 2019, at Providence Health and Rehab Center in Thomaston.
Mrs. Helms was born April 28, 1928, in Fuquay Varina NC, to the late William Ellis and Daisy Nordon. She was a Police Officer for the City of Thomaston and member of Grace Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Mike) Raines of Thomaston; son, Mickey (Lanita) Lloyd of Villa Rica Ga; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Katie Matthews and Newell Moore; brothers, Millard Nordon, Everett Nordon, Robert Nordon, and Glenn Nordon.
Memorial services for Mrs. Helms will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Grace Primitive Baptist Church. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.

MRS. JOYCE "NADINE" O'NEAL

Mrs. Joyce "Nadine" O'Neal, age 84, of Thomaston Ga, died Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin GA.
Mrs. O'Neal was born November 30, 1934, in Thomaston to the late Clarence J. and Ruby Mae Storey. She retired from Walmart as a greeter, worked over 40 years for Carters, a member of Mountain View Baptist Church, and Order of the Eastern Star.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Alvah O'Neal, and brother, Carlotn Storey. Survivors are her daughter, Cynthia O'Neal Claude; sons Greg (Sarah) O'Neal and Tim (Lisa) O'Neal all of Thomaston; grandchildren, Christin Bell Rowland, Ashlee O'Neal, Jennifer O'Neal Lamb, and Jessica O'Neal Wheeless; and 8 great-grandchildren.

MR. JONATHAN OSCAR "OZZIE" HUFF

Jonathan Oscar "Ozzie" Huff, age 78, of Thomaston, Georgia, died at his residence on March 17, 2019.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday March 19, 2019 2:00 PM at Thomaston First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service in the church social hall.
A family graveside service will be held Saturday March 23, 2019 at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Huff was born on February 20, 1941, in Gainesville, Georgia to John and Evelyn Huff.  Mr. Huff graduated from Marietta High School in 1958.  He earned a Bachelor of Science in Textiles from Georgia Tech before serving in the United States Army where he reached the rank of captain.  After separating from the army, Mr. Huff returned to Georgia Tech and earned a Master of Science in Textiles.  Mr. Huff was a plant manager with Coats and Clark in North Carolina before moving to Thomaston, Georgia, and joining Thomaston Mills in 1974.  After many years of service with Thomaston Mills, Mr. Huff retired as Vice-President of the Apparel Finishing Division.  He taught courses for Gordon College and Flint River Technical College and served on the boards for both the Thomaston City School System and Flint River Technical College.  He was a member of Pyramid Equities Investment Club of Georgia and the Wild Bunch hunting group.  Mr. Huff was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities. 
Mr. Huff was preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn Huff, and his son, Jonathan Hollis Huff.  He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Jackie Huff; a sister, Camille Stolp of Cornelia, Georgia; daughters Kelly (Steve) Mikell of Trussville, Alabama, and Heidi (John) Allen of Calhoun, Georgia; grandchildren, Reed Allen of Dayton, Ohio; Kathryn Kelly (Grant) Quist of Boca Raton, Florida; Davis Allen of Calhoun, Georgia; Heidi Mikell of Trussville, Alabama; and Hayley Mikell of Trussville, Alabama.

Mrs. Margaret Boswell, age 89, of Thomaston, died Sunday, March 17, 2019, at Heritage Inn Health and Rehab Center in Barnesville GA.
Mrs. Boswell was born June 17, 1930, in Thomaston to the late Newton and Lucile Dawson. She retired from the Wm. Carter Company as a Side Seamstress, and was a member of Calvary Lighthouse Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband Norman Boswell; and daughter, Dee Deloatch. Survivors are Cindy (Gary) Fortner of Auburn AL, and Patricia (Robert) Mercer of Thomaston; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

MRS. ELIZABETH ALLENE HUCKABY

Mrs. Elizabeth Allene Huckaby, age 81, of  Meansville Ga, died Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Riverside Health and Rehab.
Mrs. Huckaby was born July 10, 1937, in Pike County to the late William Henry and Mary Ward Mann. She retired from Sherri-Lynn Mills as a seamstress, and was a member of Vega Community Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Grady Huckaby. Survivors are her daughter, Karen (Terry) Adams of Meansville; son, Ken (Teresa) Huckaby of Meansville; sisters, Sarah (Jim) Buffington of Griffin, Mary Etta James of Meansville, and Gladys (Dennis) Dawson of Meansville; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. William Duane Balmer, age 85, of Thomaston died Monday, March 4, 2019, at Upson Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Balmer, was born December 17, 1933, in Detroit Michigan, to the late Alfred J. and Violet J. Balmer. He was a retired Pastor and member of Mountain View Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Balmer; daughters, Jodie (Daniel) Byrd of Tampa FL, Julie (Mitch) Smith of Richmond VA, Deena (Michael) Ridenour of Sidney Australia, and Torri Pierce of Ft Lauderdale Fl; and 6 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Gordon Balmer and Jim Balmer.
Memorial services for Mr. Balmer will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Mountain View Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.

MRS. JULIA EVELYN SHEETS

Mrs. Julia Evelyn Sheets, 79 of Thomaston died March 3, 2019 at Riverplace Assisted Living in Forsyth, GA.
Mrs. Sheets was born August 3, 1939, in Morgan County GA. to the late Bertram and Julia Richardson. She was a retired School Teacher, graduate of the Georgia College for Women, member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, and member of Thomaston First Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Sheets; sister, Betty Johnson; brothers, Jere Richardson, Bill Richardson, and Donald Richardson. Survivors are her daughter, Lynne (Andy) Sheets Bickley of Thomaston; son, Paul (Margaret) Sheets of Gray; sister, Sylvia Richardson of Atlanta; grandchildren, Jamie (Josh) McRae, Abby (Scott) Hellman, Preston Brown and Maggie Brown; great-grandchildren, Harper McRae, Rad McRae, and Elliott Hellman.
