MRS. MARTHA WARREN MORRIS

Mrs. Martha Warren Morris age 79 of The Rock Ga, died Thursday August 24, 2017 at her residence.

Mrs. Morris was born on April 11, 1938 in Thomaston Ga, to the late Hugh Warren and the late Mattie Lynn Warren. She worked for Dr. Gower as a secretary for many years. She was a member of Daughters of The American Revolution, Red Hatters, Jeff Davis Homemakers and New Hope Baptist Church. Mrs. Morris was an avid quilter and gardener.

Survivors include her husband Mr. Lee Morris Of The Rock Ga, daughter Mrs. Lynn (Alan) Wainwright of Thomaston Ga, son Mr. Douglas Lee (Shirley) Morris of Thomaston Ga, grandchildren Jennifer (Daniel) Whitmire, Chelse Wainwright.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday August 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Antioch Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Saturday August 26, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the local cancer car c/o Mr. Carey Pitts at 300 Upson Avenue Thomaston Ga. 30286.

MS. SUSAN HOLLIMAN FULLER

Ms. Susan Holliman Fuller, 63, of Canton, and formerly of Thomaston, died
Wednesday, August 23, at Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton.
Memorial Services for Ms. Fuller will be held Sunday, August 27, at 2:00
PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Interment will follow in
South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening,
August 26, from 5 until 7 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Fletcher-Day

MRS. BETTY JO MARTIN THOMPSON

Mrs. Betty Jo Martin Thompson, age 85, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Ansley Park Health and Rehab in Newnan Ga. 

Mrs. Thompson was born March 29, 1932, in Upson County to the late Emmett Eugene and Mary Kate Martin Sr. She was secretary at the Thomaston First Baptist Church and member of the Thomaston First Baptist Church.  

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Paul Thompson Jr; and brother, Frank Martin. Survivors are her daughter, Judy (Harvey) Knight of Newnan; brothers, Emmett Martin Jr of Thomaston, Buddy (Kay) Martin of Stone Mountain, Gary (Debbie) Martin of Thomaston; grandchildren, Ashli (Dan) Tucker, Dustin (Carol) Waller; great-grandchildren, Austin Tucker, Mary Kate Tucker, Wells Waller, and Cooper Waller. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Thompson will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Southview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 25, 2017, from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Coggins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shrine Association of Thomaston.

MR. MAX TOLBERT HOLLIMAN

Mr. Max Tolbert Holliman, 62, of Thomaston, died August 3, 2017, at Riverside Health and Rehab. Funeral Services for Mr. Holliman will be held Sunday, August 6, at 3:00 PM, at the First United Methodist Church of Thomaston. Rev. Eddie Herring will officiate and burial will follow in South View Cemetery.
Mr. Holliman was born June 25, 1955, in Atlanta. He was reared in Thomaston where he attended R. E. Lee Grammar School and was a 1973 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute. He then attended Emory at Oxford College, Emory University, and the University of West Georgia, graduating with a BA degree in Psychology. Both during and after college, Mr. Holliman wrote, studied, and performed music as a semiprofessional musician. In the 1970s, he sang and played guitar in Atlanta in the theatrical rock band, The Nobz, who performed live on WXIA TV Atlanta and at the Atlanta Civic Center. In the 1980s he studied and performed in West Virginia in the guitar orchestra of Robert Fripp and the League of Crafty Guitarists. In the 1990s he performed in New York and Los Angeles as a solo loop artist, guitarist, and singer who used the stage name of The Intergalactic Cowboy. As The Intergalactic Cowboy, he released eight musical recordings on several independent music labels. He also performed six live worldwide internet broadcasts from radio stations WUOG - Athens, GA, WREK - Atlanta, GA, and WRAS - Atlanta, GA. In 2003 he returned to Thomaston, teaching guitar in Upson, Pike, and Lamar Counties. Mr. Holliman was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Thomaston.
Mr. Holliman was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Allen Holliman of Upson County; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Max V. Tolbert of Calhoun, GA; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Emmett Holliman of Thomaston, GA; and his brother John Holliman, Jr., of Shepherdstown, WV. Survivors include his sister-in-law Dianne Edwards Holliman and a nephew John Emmett Holliman, both of Shepherdstown, WV.

MRS. HELEN MARY FARMER

Mrs. Helen Mary Farmer, age 87, of Molena, died Friday, August 4, 2017, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin GA.

Mrs. Farmer was born April 6, 1930, in Tewksbury Mass. She was a home maker and member of St. Peter The Rock Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Gracia (John) Penuel of Milledgeville GA, Catherine Rawls of Molena, and Joan (Campbell) Ryan of Johns Creek GA; sons, Elmo Farmer of Ft. Myers FL and Mack Farmer of Cape Coral FL; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass for Mrs. Farmer will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 10:00 AM at St Peter the Rock Catholic Church in Thomaston GA.

MR. LOWELL MALVIN BAILEY

Mr. Lowell Malvin Bailey age 89 of Thomaston Ga, died Friday July 28, 2017 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Mr. Bailey was born on May 22, 1928 in Enterprise Al, to the late Martha Bailey. He worked for WXIA T.V. News as a photographer for many years. Mr. Bailey was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church, Georgia Gem & Mineral Society and was an Emmy Award winner. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a POW in Korea.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Sue Bailey of Thomaston Ga, sons Mr. Kerry (Karen) Bailey of Annapolis MD, Mr. Ronald (Sue) Bailey of Biloxi MS,  Mr. Michael "Bill" Bailey of Thomaston GA, sisters Mrs. Ruth Mitchell of Delaware, Maryland Anderson of Florida, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday July 31, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from Mountain View Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Mountain View Baptist Church on Monday July 31, 2017 from 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
