MRS. QUIDA DEANNA QUIGLEY

Mrs. Ouida Deanna Quigley, 72 of Meansville died October 31, 2018 at Upson Regional Hospital. 

A memorial service will be held at Thomaston First United Methodist Church at a later date. Burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. 

Mrs. Quigley was born November 14, 1945 in Macon, GA to the late John Brannon and Ouida Louise Eden Hammonds.
She was a member of Thomaston First United Methodist Church and will always be remembered by the love she gave to her husband, children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Edgar "Ed" Quigley of Meansville, daughters, Joy Campbell of Simpsonville, SC, Kelly Bohannon and her husband Chad of LaGrange, GA, sisters, Patricia Miller of Griffin and Cherita Jones of McDonough, grandchildren, Grace Summers, Madelyn Summers, Blake Bohannon, Kalyb Bohannon and Kai Bohannon.

Mrs. Peggy Diane Ingram age 68 of Thomaston Ga, died Tuesday October 30, 2018 at her residence. 

Mrs. Ingram was born on December 22, 1949 in Thomaston Ga, to the late Curtis William Roberts and the late Elizabeth Joy Miller Roberts. She worked in the textile industry for many years. Mrs. Ingram was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband Mr. Joe Ingram of Thomaston Ga, son Mr. Larry Carl Adams Jr. of Thomaston Ga, step son Mr. Stan Gary Ingram of Thomaston Ga, sisters Mrs. Ann Gibb of Thomaston Ga, Mrs. Virginia Wyatt of Thomaston Ga, 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Saturday November 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Crystal Hill Cemetery.

MRS. LOIS WYNELL ALLEN

Mrs. Lois Wynell Allen, age 78, of Thomaston Ga, died Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Providence Health and Rehab. 

Mrs. Allen was born December 28, 1939, in Upson County to the late Albert and Nannie Stewart. She retired from the Upson County Hospital as a Pediatric Nurse, and was a member of the Thomaston First Assembly of God and the LPN Association.

She is preceded in death by her husband, E. J. Allen; and sister, Ruth Childree. Survivors are her daughter, Fay (Glen) Berryhill; son, Ron Fredrick (Megan Rose) Allen; sisters, Martha (Tommy) Morrow, and Elsie Voss; brother, Franklin (Jolly) Stewart; grandchildren, Jared Huckaby, Bonnie Futch, Joni Allen, Katie Allen, Jeff Berryhill, Ben Berryhill, and Beth Shepard; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Allen will be Held on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 25, from 12:00 - 1:00 PM.

Mr. Tommy Gene Lockhart, 70, of 101 Second street passed on Wednesday, October 17th at the Horborview Nursing Home.

Ms. Janice Albritton Harrison age 60 of Thomaston Ga, died Saturday October 20, 2018 at Upson Regional Medical Center. 

Ms. Harrison was born on December 20, 1957 in Thomaston Ga, to the late Julian Lightner Albritton and the late Sara Frances Morgan Albritton.

Survivors include her daughter Tira (Nick) Manning of Canton Ga, grandchildren Courtney & Storm Manning.

MR. FRED LEON HERRING

Mr. Fred Leon Herring, age 87, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at Upson Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Herring was born April 1, 1931, in Thomaston to the late Tommy Sanford and Mary Thelma Herring. He retired as Pastor of First Easton Baptist Church, Easton Maryland. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Thomaston, and a U.S. Navy Veteran.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Denise Davis; and son, Fredrick David Herring. Survivors are his wife, LaRose Herring; son Timothy Glen (Kimberly) Herring; brother, Henry Avery (Sandra) Herring; grandchildren, Samuel Elijah Davis, Jesse Ryan Herring, and Braden Timothy Herring.

Mr. Bennie Frank Pollard Jr. age 52 of Thomaston Ga, died Monday October 15, 2018 at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Pollard was born on January 30, 1966 in Thomaston Ga, to Bennie Frank Pollard Sr., and Geraldine Bourgeois Watson. He was employed with Outback Enterprises where he worked as a welder. Mr. Pollard was a member of Hendricks Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter Miss. Angelica Pollard, father Mr. Bennie Frank Pollard Sr., mother Mrs. Geraldine Watson, brother Mr. John Joseph Pollard Sr., sisters Mrs. Shelia (Joe) Melton, Mrs. Regina (Tony) McCard, grandchildren Madison Pollard, Azeric Pollard, Lyric Pollard.

Mr. Gary Melvin Shumate, 70 of Thomaston died October 12, 2018 at Upson Regional Medical Center. 

Funeral services will be Monday October 15, 2018 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Rev. Mickey Corley officiating. Interment will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Shumate was born March 7, 1948 in Upson County, GA to the late Bentley and Hattie Mae Blanton Shumate. He worked at Standard Textile and retired from Thomaston Mills with 35 years of service. 

Survivors include his wife Cynthia Smith Shumate of Thomaston, daughter, Michelle Shumate Daniel and her husband Mike of Thomaston, sons, Dewayne Shumate and his wife Casey of Ft. Valley, GA and Chad Shumate and his wife Angie of Thomaston, half brother, Wendell Blanton, five grandchildren, Nick Goodman and his wife Deann, Josh Goodman, Jade Shumate, Leah Shumate and Zac Shumate, five great-grandchildren, Nicholas Goodman, Adalyn Goodman, Autry Goodman, Gill Marcus and Frankie Marcus.

Mr. Shumate was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Norman Shumate and a sister, Patsy Owenby.

Mr. Jimmy Ethan Stitcher, age 28, of Molena, died Sunday, October 14, 2018, at his residence in Molena.

Mr. Stitcher was born April 21, 1990 in Warm Springs GA to Brenda Stitcher and Jimmy Stitcher Jr. He was an equipment operator for Interfor in Thomaston.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Sewell Stitcher; brother, Kerry Ray Stitcher; maternal grandmother, Anita Hayes; and paternal grandfather Jimmy Stitcher Sr. Survivors are his mother, Brenda Stitcher; father, Jimmy (Angie) Stitcher Jr; step-sisters, Kimberly Staley, Kelsey Staley, Karen Staley, Kinzie Staley, and Anna Staley; brothers, Cody Stitcher, Ryan Allison, and David Tidwell; step-brother, Ryan Staley; maternal grandfather,James Edward Ellerbee; paternal-grandparents, John and Bessie Howard.

Mr. Moon was born December 1, 1940 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Daniel Cecil and Elizabeth Raines Moon, Sr. He was retired from Winn-Dixie Grocery Store a the Produce Manager and was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include his girlfriend, Dorothy Folds Driver of Thomaston, sons, Daniel Maurice Moon (Michael Garvin) of Lutz, FL, Dale Moon (Nello Perelli) of Georgia and Dennis R. Mrs. Burger was born March 27, 1927 in Superior, WI to John and Virginia Doucette Williams. She was retired from Sun Terrace, a lawn furniture distributor and was a longtime member of Pritchett Memorial Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ledbetter was born July 6, 1941 in Gwinnett Co., Ga to the late Grady Lee Ramey and Thelma E. Nichols Ledbetter. She was a RN at Georgia Baptist Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles Emmit Ledbetter, and her daughter, Cindy Gail Kent.

Mrs. Rita Faye McChargue Bridges, age 58, died Sunday, October 7, 2018, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. 

Mrs. Bridges was born January 30, 1960, in Griffin GA, to the late Franklin Delano and Ruby McChargue. She was a Production Inspector.

She is survived by her husband, James Gary Bridges; daughter, Melissa Thrasher; son, Jason Bridges; sisters, Beverly (James) George and Robin Fitch; 2 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, William Frankie McChargue.

Mrs. Karen Elouise Collins age 44 of Thomaston Ga, died Friday October 5, 2018 at Upson Regional Medical Center. 

Mrs. Collins was born on September 20, 1974 in Thomaston Ga, to Landris Kent Davison and the late Milwood Davison. She was employed with Aadvantage where she worked as an office assistant. Mrs. Collins served her country in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include her husband James Collins, daughter Megan Collins, sons James Collins II, Michael Collins, Jacob Collins, mother Landris Davison, brothers Bill Davison, Alfred Davison.

Mrs. Gertrude Lumsden Rahanian Taylor age 96 died Saturday October 6, 2018 at Carlyle Place in Macon Ga.

Mrs. Taylor was born on November 1, 1921 in Talbot County Ga, to the late Henry Thomas Lumsden Sr, and the late Brownie Mathews Lumsden. She was formerly employed with the Upson County Commissioners office where she worked as a clerk. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Thomaston First United Methodist Church where she was active in the Service Sunday School Class, and also UMW Ladies Circle. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husbands Stephen Rahanian & Carter Taylor, brother Henry Thomas Lumsden Jr., sister Louise L. Love.

Survivors include her daughters Mrs. Michele (Albert) Messer of Griffin Ga, Mrs. Deborah (James) Chapman of Macon Ga, step son Mr. Tim (Dee) Taylor of St. Simons Island Ga, niece Mrs. Cynthia (Patrick) McPhilomy of Talbotton Ga, grandchildren Mr. Matthew (Laurie) Mallory, Mr. Stephen (Jenny) Mallory, Mrs. Stephanie (Eric) Pingel, Mr. John c. Mrs. Shirley Jane Youngblood age 77 of Thomaston GA, died Thursday October 4, 2018 at Upson Regional Medical Center. 

Funeral services will be Saturday October 6, 2018 1:00 PM at The Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Rev. Ronnie Barrow and Rev. Marc Pritchett officiating. Interment will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Youngblood was born November 15, 1940 in Juniper, GA to the late James Anthony and Velma Ruth Stringfield McLaughlin. She was retired from Quad graphics and a member of Valley Grave Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Mr. Herman M. Youngblood who died November 24, 2006

Survivors include her daughters, Cheryl Deloach and her husband Bill of Thomaston, GA, Robbie Jones of Barnesville, GA and Wendy McDaniel and her husband Kenneth of Thomaston, GA, sister, Margie Bradley of Michigan, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at Coggins Funeral Home.

Mr. Larry Holland Willis, age 62, of Griffin, died Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at his residence in Griffin.

Mr. Willis was born on October 17, 1956 in Barnesville Ga, to the late Thomas Calvin Willis and the late Margaret Maxine Smith Willis. He worked for Thomaston Mills for many years. Mr. Willis was a member of Congregational Holiness Church.

Survivors include his brother Mr. Tommie (Donna) Smith of Thomaston Ga, many cousins also survive.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday October 6, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. from Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Greenwood Cemetery one hour before the service.

MR. DYLAN MICHAEL THOMAS, 16, PIKE COUNTY FOOTBALL PLAYER

Mr. Dylan Michael Thomas, age 16, of Hollonville, passed away September 30, 2018.  Dylan was a Junior at Pike County High School. He loved all sports, but football was his favorite. He was a linebacker and running back for the Pike County Pirates. When he was younger, he played second base, catcher and shortstop for Pike County recreational baseball.  He was passionate about the outdoors, and a skilled fisherman and hunter. He especially enjoyed deer, turkey and duck hunting.  He was also an excellent marksman. 
Dylan lived life to the fullest.  He was a true friend, who never met a stranger. He was a loving son and brother.
He is survived by his parents: Darren and Shannon Thomas; sister: Ashley Westbrook of Hollonville, and a 2007 Pike County High School graduate; grandparents: Delcie Thomas of Davie, FL, Tom Thomas of Live Oak, FL, and Sheryl Burgess of Williamson; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, October 3, 4-7 p.m., at the funeral home.  Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 4, 4 p.m., at Oak Hill Baptist Church, 100 Lakeside Drive, Williamson, with Dr. David Couch and Pastor Stephen Dervan officiating.  Burial will follow in Moody Memorial Gardens.
The family would like for all football players (no matter which school) to wear their jerseys to the service.

Mrs. Mabrey was born October 19, 1944, in Mayo FL, to the late Thomas and Mary Alice Amos. She was a member of Vega Community Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joel Wayne Mabrey. Survivors are her daughters, Teri (Tim) Boyt, and Lisa (Tim) Childress; grandchildren, Crystal Wheeler, Brad Boyt, Rodney McDaniel, Clint Boyt, Jacob McDaniel and Cory Standard; great-grandchildren, Mabrey Wheeler, Summer Wheeler, Autumn Wheeler, James Wheeler, Hunter McDaniel, Seth Winters, Payton Winters, Blake Winters, Caden McDaniel, Bryston McDaniel, Logan McDaniel, Aubrey Tucker Boyt, Olivia Boyt, and Jacob Fallin.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mabrey, will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, With burial to follow in The Rock Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 1, 2018, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Coggins Funeral Home.

 

MR. JAMES RONALD SHANNON

Mr. James Ronald Shannon, age 68, of Thomaston, died Saturday, September 29, 2018, at his residence in Thomaston.

Memorial services for Mr. Shannon will be Monday October 1, 2018 1:00 PM at The Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Rev. Emory Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mr. Shannon was born in Georgetown, SC to the late Norman and Geneva Haun Shannon. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jimmy D. Shannon, Sr. and Buddy Shannon, sister, Norma Shannon Williams.

Survivors include his wife, Angie Shannon of Thomaston, daughter, Susan Shannon Martin and her husband Jay of Hohenwald, TN, sons, Ronald L. Shannon and his wife Jeanie of Martinsville, VA, Keith Clay and his wife Jennifer of Thomaston and Michael Clay and his wife Christina of Zebulon, brothers, William Earl Shannon and his wife Betty Ann of Georgetown, SC, Steve "Wildman" Shannon and his wife Vicki of Thomaston and Bobby Shannon of Georgetown, SC, eight grandchildren, SSgt Ryan Smith and his wife Tiffany, Dallas Jordan Shannon, Jarrod Shannon, Dakota Speas, Colby Clay, Abbi Clay, Eli Clay and Emma Clay and three great grandchildren, Zeke Maxwell Smith, Parker Conrad Smith and Jaxson Bradley Harris.
