MRS.ONITA COOK PHAGAN

Mrs. Onita Cook Phagan age 91 of Thomaston Ga, died Monday February 26, 2018 at Riverside Health and Rehab. 

Mrs. Phagan was born on June 11, 1926 in Waycross Ga, to the late William Cook and the late Lucille Harris Cook. She worked for the William Carter Company for many years. Mrs. Phagan was a member of Northside Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Winfred R. Phagan.

Survivors include her daughter Amaryallis (Larry) Heath of Woodland Ga, sons Ronald Phagan of Thomaston Ga, Raymond (Pam) Phagan of Hoover Al, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday March 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Friday March 2, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of ones choice.

MR. JOHN W. EDMONSON

Mr. John W. "JW" Edmonson, 85, of Thomaston, died Saturday, February 24th,
2018. 
Funeral services for Mr. Edmonson will be held on Wednesday, February 28th,
2018 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Burial
will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens.
The family of Mr. Edmonson will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home
on Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

MRS. CHARLINE BARKER TEAL

Mrs. Charline Barker Teal age 79 of Yatesville Ga, died Sunday February 25, 2018 at her residence. 

Mrs. Teal was born on April 3, 1938 in Thomaston Ga, to the late Charlie Edward Barker and the late Maudie Pauline Helms Barker. She was formerly employed with Ingram McDaniel Insurance Company and BB&T Insurance Company where she worked for 31 years until her retirement. Mrs. Teal was a member of Grace Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William Donald Teal and grandson Mack McCard.

Survivors include her daughter Donna (Kim) McCard, sons Eddie (Tina) Teal, Dennis (Beverly) Teal, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday February 27, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Monday February 26, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

MR. THOMAS LAFAYETTE FOWLER

Mr. Thomas Lafayette Fowler, 66, of Thomaston, died Friday, February 16, at
Upson Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be held on Sunday,
February 18, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Flint River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

MRS. VELMA CONLEY

Mrs. Velma Conley, age 95, of Thomaston GA, died Friday, February 16, 2018, at Providence Health and Rehab.

Mrs. Conley was born June 6, 1922, in Dodge County GA to the late John M. and Vixie P. Jones. She was a housewife.

She is preceded in death by he husband, James Edward Conley. Survivors are her daughters, Juanita Brannon, and Sylvia Helms both of Thomaston; sons, Paul E. Conley of Griffin, and James E. Conley of Layfayette GA. 

Graveside services for Mrs. Conley will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 2:00 PM in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM.

MR. DONNIE WAYNE HENDRIX

Mr. Donnie Wayne Hendrix, 52, of Thomaston, died Monday, February 12, at his
residence. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Hendrix will be held
Thursday, February 15, at 2:00 PM, in the Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family
will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 5
until 7 PM. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

MR. DONALD G. HUNTER

Mr. Donald G. Hunter, age 89, of Thomaston, died Monday, February 12, 2018, at his residence.

Mr. Hunter was born August 18, 1928, in Upson County to the late George W. and Olivia B. Hunter. He retired from the B.F. Goodrich Martha Mills as a supervisor with over 40 years of service, WWII U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater, and Mason.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Freida Hunter. Survivors are his daughter, Alisa Elaine Sanders of Thomaston; grandchildren, William Sanders of Carrollton, and Ashelyn Sanders of Thomaston; and great-grandchild, Alexander Hunter Ford.

Funeral services for Mr. Hunter will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 15, 2018, from 3:00 - 5:00 PM at Coggins Funeral Home.

Mrs. Laura Mae Jordan Dunn, age 72, of Thomaston, died Monday, February 12, 2018, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin Ga,

Mrs. Dunn was born on February 10, 1946 in Thomaston Ga, to the late Sanford Jordan and the late Lucille Heathcock Jordan. She was formerly employed with Bostwick Furniture Company where she worked as the account manager for over 30 years. Mrs. Dunn was a member of McCorkle Curve Church of Christ. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband James Barney Dunn.

Survivors include her daughters Mrs. Sherri (Todd) Harbin of Covington Ga, Mrs. Tanya Dunn (Shane) Ellis of Thomaston Ga, son Mr. James Gregory (Rhonda) Dunn of Thomaston Ga, brother Mr. Fred Jordan of Thomaston Ga, brother in laws Mr. Fred (Jean) Dunn of Thomaston Ga, Mr. Hoyt Dunn Jr. of Royston Ga sister Mrs. Beth Caldwell of Thomaston Ga, 6 grandchildren.

Ms. Penny Parker Carter age 56 of Thomaston Ga, died Sunday February 11, 2018 at Upson Regional Medical Center. 

Ms. Carter was born on August 31, 1961 in Thomaston Ga, to the late Jesse Parker and the late Bessie Mae Forehand Parker. 

Survivors include her daughter Beth Carter of Thomaston Ga, son Christopher Carter (Jessica Bowles) of Thomaston Ga, brothers John Gresham of Warner Robins Ga, Mickey Gresham of Thomaston Ga.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Thursday February 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service at the Quality Inn banquet room.

Ms. Edna Loriece Ivey age 71 of Thomaston Ga, died Sunday February 11, 2018 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Ms. Ivey was born on April 13, 1946 in Thomaston Ga, to the late Charlie Jefferson Gibson and the late Rilla Hudgins Vickers. She worked for Fatality Investments for many years, and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters Mrs. Stacey (Gary) Schultz of Gulfport Ms, Mrs. Christa (Richard) Lee of Savannah Ga, son Mr. Troy Eugene Blount Jr. of Thomaston Ga, sister Mrs. Kathy Davis of Thomaston Ga, 5 Grandchildren.

MRS. MARY FRANCIS (FRAN) MCGOUIRK HOBBS

Mrs. Mary Frances (Fran) McGouirk Hobbs, Born September 19, 1949 went home to be the Lord Thursday, February 8, 2018. Born and raised in Upson County to the late Robert & Elsie McGouirk. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hobbs. 

She worked at BF Goodrich, Martha Mills, The Pool Room Cafe, Diversco, and Westek Housekeeping. She enjoyed reading the Bible, visiting with friends,
 her family and cooking. She also enjoyed attending church services, events and singing at Emory‘s Chapel Baptist Church and Mountian View Baptist Church both located in Thomaston. 


Survivors include her sister, Diane (Richard) Dennis, brothers Cecil (Liz) McGouirk, and Ralph (Sheryl) McGouirk; children, Randy (Julie) Hobbs, Danny Hobbs, Wanda (Joey) Marston, and Shanda (Dan) Daniel; grandchildren Macy Marston, Madison Marston, Thomas Hobbs, & Brooks Daniel. 

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday February 10, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Emory's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Saturday February 10, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

MR. WILLIAM LARRY "BILLY" GUY

Mr. William Larry "Billy" Guy, 68, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, February
7th, 2018 at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Guy will be held on Friday,
February 9th, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home
with Rev. Glenn Todd officiating. Burial will follow in the Neal Baptist
Church Cemetery in Molena. The family of Mr. Guy will receive friends at
Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Friday from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour.
Mr. Guy was born in Pike County on February 22nd, 1949, a son of the late
Richard Levy and Bessie Mae Nix Guy. He was a self-employed carpenter and
was a member of the Neal Baptist Church. Mr. Guy is survived by his wife,
Emmie Jean Biles Guy; three daughters, Darlene (Lance) McDaniel, Deniece
(Glenn) Todd, and Dana (Stephen) Fuller, all of Thomaston; a son, Richie Guy
(Farrah Wilson) of Thomaston; two sisters, Shirley Nicholson of Molena and
Glenn (Clarence) Hatchett of Concord; a brother, Bobby (Marianne) Guy of
Concord; 14 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Fletcher-Day Funeral

Mr. Chad Michael Johnson age 29 of Thomaston Ga, died Tuesday February 6, 2018 at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Johnson was born on April 26, 1988 in Thomaston Ga, to Edward Elton Johnson Jr, and Theresa Lynn Tidwell Johnson. He was employed with Power Secure Inc, where he worked as a lineman. Mr. Johnson was a 2007 graduate of Upson Lee Highschool and a member of Northridge Church. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Edward Johnson Sr, Shirley Reeves, Patricia Tidwell.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Brianna Johnson of Thomaston Ga, daughter Miss. Emma Johnson of Thomaston Ga, son Mr. Colby Johnson of Thomaston Ga, father Mr. Edward Johnson Jr. of Thomaston Ga, mother Mrs. Theresa Johnson of Thomaston Ga, brother Mr. Brandon Johnson of Thomaston Ga, sister in law Mrs. Laurin Griffin of Thomaston Ga, maternal grandfather Mr. James Larry Tidwell of Thomaston Ga, aunts and uncles, Mrs. Debbie (Mike) Short, Mrs. Sheila (Frank) Roberts, Mr. Len (Brenda) Mobley, Mrs. Debra (Roy) Shaw, Mrs. Pam Benson, Mary (Jeff) Kendrick.

MR. PRESTON T. YOUNG

Mr. Preston T. Young, age 67, of Thomaston, died Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Upson Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Young was born March 21, 1950 in Upson County to the late Proncey and Kitty Lou Young. He was owner/operator of of Young's Backhoe Service, and retired bus driver for the Upson County School System.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Young; daughter, Maggie (Jeremy) Rabuck; son, Chris (Joell) Young; sisters, Linda Mathis, and Nancy (Keith) Harris; brothers, James (Hazel) Young, and Phillip (Debra) Young; grandchildren, Eason Young, Keagan Young, Landon Young, Lochlyn Young, Victoria (Baby Bug) Rabuck, and Jay Rabuck. He is preceded in death by his sister, Marceline Lee; and brothers-in-law, Clyde Lee, and Jay Mathis.

MR. RICKEY K. USSERY

Mr. Rickey K. Ussery, age 63, of Thomaston Ga, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at his residence in Thomaston.

Mr. Ussery, was born December 1, 1954, in Upson County, to the late B.H. "Buddy" and Lola Dowdy Ussery. He was a fork lift operator for Thomaston Mills Bleachery.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Smith Ussery; and brother, Ray Ussery. Survivors are his daughters, Shawn Ussery and Stephanie Moore; son, Josh Moore; sisters, Gail Ussery, and Brenda Hall; grandchildren, Brandon Warren, Shelby Ussery, Sara Ussery, Mark Cooper, Allison Cooper, Jamie Cooper, Devon Moore, and Breana Moore; and great-grandchild, Wyatt Hallman.
