MR. CHRISTOPHER OLAMAR DANIEL, 40, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND

Mr. Christopher OLamar Daniel, 40, or Baltimore, Maryland and formerly of Thomaston, passed on September 16th in Baltimore.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 29th at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Thomaston, 
Ga.  Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in The Rock, GA.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday from 6 to 8.

DR. LANIER ALLEN

Dr. Lawrence "Lanier" Allen, Jr., 84, of Stockbridge, Ga, died Tuesday,
September 25, 2018, at Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation in Thomaston,
Ga. A Memorial Service with military honors will be held Thursday,
September 27, at 2:00 PM, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of
Thomaston, with Rev. Bill Barber and Rev. Larry Lawrence officiating.
Military honors will be held in an adjacent courtyard immediately following
the service. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in the
Fellowship Hall of the church. 
Dr. Allen was born in Valdosta, Ga, June 1, 1934, to the late Lawrence
Lanier Allen, Sr., and Marie James Allen. The son of a farmer, Dr. Allen
worked his way through Valdosta State College and The Medical College of
Georgia in Augusta, Ga, earning his M.D. as a physician. He began his
medical practice in Thomaston, Ga, on July 8, 1963. Dr. Allen was honored
with a Mayoral Proclamation designating July 11, 2014, as "Dr. L.L. Allen
Day" in the City of Thomaston upon his retirement from practicing medicine
in Thomaston for more than 50 years. He also served as an Aviation Medical
Examiner conducting physicals for private and commercial airline pilots for
40 years. Dr. Allen served his country in the U.S. Air Force and in the
Georgia Army National Guard (GaARNG). While serving in the GaARNG, Dr.
Allen served as the 48th Brigade Surgeon, Commander of the 1077th Mobile
Army Surgical Hospital (MASH), and GaARNG State Surgeon, retiring in 1993 at
the rank of Brigadier General. Dr. Allen was a member of First Baptist
Church Thomaston, and most recently a member of First Baptist Church
Jonesboro, Ga.
Dr. Allen was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Zona Biggs Allen of
Hahira, Ga, and is survived by four children: Lawrence Lanier Allen, III,
(Barbara) of Jonesboro, Ga, Joy Allen Drummond (Randy) of Stockbridge, Ga,
Dr. Michael Allen (Glenda) of Thomaston, Ga, Laura Allen Hudson (Guy) of
Anchorage, AK; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Dr.
Allen's name to Rainbow House, Inc., in Clayton County, Ga, an emergency
shelter for abused, neglected, exploited and abandoned children at:

MRS. PHYLLIS CURRY FALLIN

Mrs. Phyllis Curry Fallin, 77, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, September 25, at
her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Fallin will be held Friday,
September 28, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with
Rev. Bill Barber officiating. Interment will follow in South View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home Thursday

MR. DAVID BRYANT STARLING

Mr. David "Bryant' Starling, age 83, of Griffin, GA, died Friday, September
21, 2018, at Wellstar Spalding Regional Hospital, Griffin, GA. Funeral
services for Mr. Starling will be held on Tuesday, September 25, at 11:00
AM, in the chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Burial will follow in
the Langford Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday
evening, from 6 until 8 PM, at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Fletcher-Day

MR. HERBERT GRANT SALTER

Mr. Herbert Grant Salter, age 74, of Thomaston died Sunday, September 16, 2018, at The Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. 

Mr. Salter was born September 23, 1943, in Thomaston, to the late John Tamp and Ethel Presley Salter. He retired from BF Goodrich's Martha Mills as shift foreman with 42 years of service, and he was also a member and deacon of First Freewill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Salter; sons, Allen (Lisa) Salter and Tim (Jessica) Salter; sister, Geneva Harrison; grandchildren, Brandon Salter, Patrick Salter, Daniel Salter, and Sarah Salter; great-grandchild, Emerie Salter. He is preceded in death by his sister, Marlene Middlebrooks; and brother, Nathan Salter. 

Funeral arrangements for Mr. Salter will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Thomaston First Freewill Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Coggins Funeral Home.

MR. RONNY EUGENE HUCKABY SR.

Mr. Ronny Eugene Huckaby Sr., age 77, of Thomaston Ga, died Monday, September 10, 2018, at his residence. 

Mr. Huckaby was born May 2, 1941, in Upson County to the late Ronny Russell and Annie Mae Huckaby. He retired from the U.S. Navy as Chief Petty Officer, serving on the USS San Diego during Viet Nam and the Cuban Missle Crisis, and was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Frankie Huckaby; daughter, Tracey Hendrix; son, Ronny (Kimberly) Huckaby Jr; sisters, Betty (Pete) Fleming, Becky Clark, Barbara (Walt) Miles, and Clara (Phillip) Fuentes; grandchildren, Jesse Nipp, and Dustin (Jessica) Hendrix; and great-grandchild, Kinslee Hendrix. He is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Donnie Hendrix; sisters, Rosa Searcy, Katie (JR) Gilbert, and Martha Arnold Joiner; brother, Johnny Blount Jr; and brother-in-law, Lynn Clark.

Graveside services for Mr. Huckaby will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at 4:00 PM in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Coggins Funeral Home.

MR. JAMES CARL CLEVELAND

Mr. James Carl Cleveland age 74 of Thomaston Ga, died Sunday September 9, 2018 at Upson Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Cleveland was born on May 3, 1944 in Thomaston Ga, to the late Carl Cleveland and the late Odessa Lee Cleveland. He was formerly employed with Martha Mills where he worked in the twister room for 40 years.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Patricia Cleveland of Thomaston Ga, daughters Mrs. Kathy (Johnny) Blount of Thomaston Ga, Ms. Kim (Chris Mathis) Cleveland of Thomaston Ga, Mrs. Melinda (Vence) Starley of Thomaston Ga, sons Mr. David (Patti) Cleveland of Tampa Fl, Mr. Dwayne (Tammy) Cleveland of Griffin Ga, brother Mr. Wayne (Vivian) Cleveland of Thomaston Ga, sister Mrs. Linda Hammack of Thomaston Ga, 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday September 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Wednesday September 12, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Mr. William G. Weest, age 71, of Griffin, died Monday, September 3, 2018, at Emory University Hospital in Decatur.

MR. BRUCE EDWARD CARTER

Mr. Bruce Edward Carter, 84 of Yatesville, GA died September 3, 2018 at his residence. 

Mr. Carter will be cremated with no services at this time.

Mr. Carter was born Jan. 18, 1934 in Mackinaw, IL to the late Buford R. and Edna Homfield Carter.
He served in the United States Army, was retired from the Teamsters Union as a truck driver and was a member of Yatesville Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sona Carter.

Survivors include his daughter, Connie J. Vaughn and her husband Jim of Yatesville, two granddaughters, Jennifer Vaughn of Yatesville and Stephanie Vaughn Cox of Roswell.
