Allen “Al” E. Oliver

Allen “Al” E. Oliver, age 72, of Meansville, passed away July 1, 2024, at his home. He was born in Zebulon, son of the late Willie and Gaynell Coggins Oliver. He graduated from Pike County High in 1969, and then West Georgia College in 1973, with a degree in anthropology and a minor in math. 

He worked for Georgia Forestry, Georgia Department of Family and Children’s Services, the Mental Health Counseling Services and the United States Post Office. Retiring from the USPS in October 2017. 

 

He loved to write poetry, collect pottery and arrowheads, and spend time with his grandkids. 

 

He is survived by his son: Kyle Oliver (Trey) of Washington D.C.; daughter: Erin Bentley (Derek) of Molena; grandchildren: Reece and Adalee Bentley; sister: Daisy Odom Brimer (Wayne) of Meansville; brother: Gaines Oliver (Cathy) of Meansville; and nephew: Matt Odom.

 

A visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at Moody-Daniel Funeral Home.
