MRS. JULIETTE HIGHTOWER

Mrs. Juliette (Lambries Grievell Wolfe) Hightower, age 59, of Thomaston, GA,
died Thursday, March 29, at her residence. Memorial services for Mrs.
Hightower will be held Monday, April 2, at 2:00 PM, in the First United
Methodist Church of Thomaston. Interment will follow in South View
Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday in the church's fellowship
hall from 12:00 until the funeral hour. Those desiring may make memorial
contributions to St. Mary's AME Church, 605 N. Hightower St., Thomaston, GA

MRS. DOROTHY LOUISE HOWARD

Mrs. Dorothy Louise Howard, age 81, of Thomaston Ga, died Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Brightmoor Hospice. 

Mrs. Howard was born on July 13, 1936 in King N.C., to the late J.H.Woodlieff and the late Beatrice Lawson Woodlieff. She worked as a lunch room attendant at Upson Lee South Elementary for many years. Mrs. Howard was a member of Pritchett Memorial Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Ed Howard, son Eddie Howard, daughters Donna Melton & Kelly Hoyal.

Survivors include her daughters Judy Bell of Thomaston Ga, Tonya Nettles of Thomaston Ga, brother Bobby Woodlieff, sister Pat Kilpatrick, sister in law Annie Ruth (Bob) Howard, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Howard will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.

MR. FREDRICK GOSMAN

Mr. Fredrick Gosman, age 74, of Thomaston, died Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Providence Health and Rehab Center.

Mr. Gosman was born September 24, 1943, in Port Huron MI, to the late Fredrick Henry and Rhea McClemmon Gosman.  He was a truck driver for Bosse Company and of the Methodist faith.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy Gosman; sisters, Pricilla Snidera and Carolyn Van Dyke. Survivors are his life mate; Teresa Raybon; daughter, Jessica Gosman; son, Jerry Gosman; brother, Charles (Sue) Gosman; and grandchild, Audrey Chyenne Raybon.

MR. DANNY JAY MELTON

Mr. Danny Jay Melton, 55, of Thomaston died March 23, 2018 at West Georgia Medical Center in La Grange, GA.

Funeral services will be Thursday March 29, 2018 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. 

He was employed with the GA Department of Transportation in the Road Maintenance Department and with Harper Tree Service. 

Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his parents James M. and Willie Joyce O'Neal Melton.

Survivors include his daughters, Tiffany Melton of Thomaston and Bethanie Melton Lowe of Thomaston,
brother, Randy Melton of Thomaston and a grandchild, Brantley Hayes of Thomaston.

MRS. BETTY MARIE HOBBS

Mrs. Betty Marie Hobbs age 77 of Thomaston Ga, died Sunday March 25, 2018 at her residence. 

Mrs. Hobbs was born on May 9, 1940 in Thomaston Ga, to the late Horace Manley Dean and the late Margie Irene Smith Dean. She worked as a Winder Operator for 32 years with Martha Mills and Westex. Mrs. Hobbs was a member of Clark's Chapel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Mack Hobbs, daughter Regina Knight & son Robbie Hobbs.

Survivors include her grandchildren Niki (Grant) Kelly, Brianna Knight, great grandchild Jade Kelly.

MR. EMORY GIBSON "GIB" PERRY

Mr. Emory Gibson "Gib" Perry age 66 of Thomaston Ga, died Thursday March 22, 2018 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. 

Mr. Perry was born on September 29, 1951 in Thomaston Ga, to the late Jack Perry and the late Betty Morroe Perry. He worked as an electrician for many years. Mr. Perry was of the Baptist faith and a member of Deer Trail Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. He loved kids and loved seeing their faces at Christmas when he played "Santa".

Mr. Chester Edward Young age 64 of Yatesville Ga, died Thursday March 22, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Young was born on July 3, 1953 in Upson County Ga, to  James Edward Young and Hazel Bridges Young. He owned and operated Silvertown Pharmacy for many years. Mr. Young was a member of Kings Chapel Baptist Church.

MRS. LORI L. PASSMORE

Mrs. Lori L. Passmore, age 53, of Yatesville Ga, died Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Wellstar Spalding Regional Hospital. 

Mrs. Passmore was born November 30, 1964, in Upson County, to Frank Lynn Bates and the late Peggy Beverly Corley. She was a nurse for many years at local hospitals and member of the Thomaston First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, James "Jimmy" Passmore of Yatesville; daughters, Samantha Ellington of Atlanta, and Danielle (Graham) Bearden of Jackson; sons, Rick (Megan) Ellington of Zebulon, and Randy (Samantha) Passmore of Richmond Hill GA; father and step-mom, Frank Lynn (Linda) Bates of Yatesville; brothers, Mike Bates of Yatesville, and Todd (Linda Chambers) Bates of Thomaston; grandchildren, Trevor Ellington, Emily Grace Ellington, Jack Bearden, and James Bearden.

MR. BILLY M. ELLIOTT SR.

Mr. Billy M. Elliott, Sr. 83 of Thomaston died March 18, 2018 at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, GA.

Funeral services will be Wednesday March 21, 2018  2:00 PM at the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors.

Born December 7, 1934 in Thomaston, GA to the late Leland and Bobbie Holland Elliott.
Mr. Elliott attended Flint River Technical school and graduated from Gordon Military College. He also served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Elliott worked in the mills of Thomaston before opening Elliott Plumbing Company which he owned and operated for 30 plus years. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann Elliott of Thomaston, daughter, Michelle Weaver and her husband Dennis of Meansville, three sons, Billy Elliott, Jr. and his wife Diane of Thomaston, Cody Adams and his wife Heather of Thomaston and Gary Royal and his wife Wendy of Thomaston, sisters, Ann Parrott of Thomaston and Linda Jenkins and her husband Frank of Thomaston, nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

MR. CHARLES EUGENE FULLER

Mr. Charles Eugene Fuller, age 87, of Thomaston Ga, died Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Upson Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Fuller, was born January 27, 1931, in Meriwether County to the late Charlie and Eunice Fuller. He retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation with 30 years of service. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Coast Guard.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Swells Fuller; daughters, Debra Jean Fuller and Irene Harrison; and son, Bud Swails. Survivors are his daughters, Carla Gayle Hatcher, and Darlette Swails; sons, Michael Ellis (Del) Fuller and Kevin Swails; sister-in-law, Linda Bunn; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Born in Wurzburg, Germany on June 9, 1967 to William Wesley and Brenda Carmichael Holston, Jr.

He graduated from McIntosh High School in Peachtree City and received his bachelors degree from Mercer University in Macon. He served in the United States Army and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

Mr. Statham was born November 7, 1946 in Manchester, GA to the late Thomas Andrew and Bernice Ezma Statham. He retired from Thomaston Mills and was of the Baptist faith.

He was married to the love of his life Rebecca Mae Green Statham who died  January 3, 2018.

Mr. Charles Edward Shirah, age 85, of Thomaston GA, died Monday, March 5, 2018, at the Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Shirah, was born January 17, 1933, in Mitchell County GA, to the late George Emory and Coreen Harmen Shirah Allen. He was a farmer and foreman for the Ford Motor Company. 

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Newton.  Survivors are his wife, Antoinette "Toni" Shirah of Thomaston; daughter, Diane (Terry) Bloodworth of Thomaston; sons, Ferrell (Pam) Shirah of Tyrone GA and Scott (Becky) Shirah of Hopeful GA; sister, Annette Sullivan; grandchildren, Heather Shirah, Justin Shirah, Landria Alegria, Autumn Shirah, Aubrey Harper, Janann Abernathy, Meagan Hill, and Bray Hill; great-grandchildren, Charlie Harper, Samuel Harper, Tyler Abernathy, Cayden Abernathy, and Dylan Shirah; and great-great-grandchild, Kahner Abernathy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Sam Fallin, daughter, Deborah Fallin and sister, Jean Harris.

DR. BYRON FLOYD DEEN

Dr. Byron Floyd Deen, age 44, died Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at his residence in Atlanta.

Dr. Deen was born November 15, 1973, in Upson County to Dr. Johnny and Elizabeth "Betty" Deen. He was an Oculoplastic Surgon, graduated form R.E. Lee High School, University of Georgia, Medical College of Georgia, Duke University Ophthalmology Residency, and Allegheny Medical Center in Pittsburgh PA, with a fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery. He was board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He lived in Atlanta working at the VA Hospital and Coliseum Hospital in Macon. He was a private pilot for 20 years. He was a huge Georgia Bulldog fan as well as NASCAR fan. He loved spending time with his niece and nephew when home.

He is survived by his parents, Dr. Johnny and Betty Deen; brother, Dr. Murray (Jessica) Deen; niece, Jenna Bette Deen; and nephew, Kenneth Deen. 

Memorial services for Dr. Deen will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at 3:00 PM at the Thomaston First Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 4, 2018, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at the Thomaston First Methodist Church.

Anthony John (Tony) Seidel
Passed away March 1, 2018.  Tony was born in Buffalo, NY.  He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Airforce as a flight engineer on heavy bombers.  He retired from Monroe Systems for Business as Southern Region Service Manager in Atlanta.  Survived by his wife  of 70 years, Loraine Seidel; daughter Deborah Blount; daughter and son-in-law Carol and Chris Mulvey of Woodland GA; granddaughter Leigh Mulvey of Atlanta; and was predeceased by his sister Lena Bieter and his son-in law Ben B. Mrs. Doris Elaine Parker Bedford age 69 of Junction City died Wednesday February 28, 2018 at her residence. 

Mrs. Bedford was born on June 24, 1948 Taylor County Ga, to the late Lonnie Ross Parker and the late Margaret Smith Parker. She was formerly employed with the Thomaston Upson Family and Children Services where she worked as the director for many years. Mrs. Bedford was a member of Horeb Baptist Church in Junction City Ga, and also a member of the Butler Garden Club.
