Mr. William "Bill" Everett Story, of Zebulon, GA, died Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, GA. Mr. Bobby Nathan Hankinson

Mr. Bobby Nathan Hankinson age 79 of Thomaston Ga, died Friday July 27, 2018 at The Medical Center of Central Georgia.

Mr. Hankinson was born on May 13, 1939 in Schley County Ga, to the late James Brown Hankinson and the late Daisy Runell Stephens Hankinson. He worked for Coca-Cola for many years.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Barbara Hankinson, daughters Mrs. Kelly (Randy) Moseley, Mrs. Karla (Brian) Corley, son Mr. Kevin Hankinson, grandchildren Becky (Lee) Spencer, Kyle Hankinson, Christopher (Kerri Norris) Moseley, Stephanie (Bret Horick) Hankinson, Michael Clemons, Sarah Clemons, Kendall Hankinson, Tara Corley, Hannah Clemons, Brein Corley, Tucker Corley.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday July 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Monday July 30, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Gregory Byrd

Mr. Scott Alexander Oeese

Scott Alexander “Alex” Keese, age 37, of Atlanta, passed away July 19, 2018. He grew up in Snellville and graduated from Brookwood High School. Alex was a free spirit who lived life to the fullest. He loved sports and was a big New Orleans Saints fan. He loved his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alan Keese and Donna Hydrick Keese and his MawMaw, Florence Hydrick.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law: Brian and Mandy Keese of Molena; nieces: Brianna Keese and Kensley Keese; nephew: Kyle Keese; many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2 p.m., at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Friends may visit the family after the service.

Mrs. Marion Keen Coleman

Mrs. Marion Keen Coleman, age 85, of The Rock, GA, passed away July 24, 2018, at The Oaks Nursing Center in Athens, GA. She was born in Swainsboro, GA, daughter of the late John Frederick Keen and Maddie McDaniel Keen. Mrs. Coleman worked for the Barnesville Housing Authority and was the Comptroller for Gordon College. She was a long-time member of Mt. Gap Church at The Rock, GA, where she and her husband, Nerl, worked tirelessly on projects at the church and also at Mt. Gap Campground, formerly Camp Louisa Jones, which Rev. Coleman built.
 
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to her family and her church, and her baking, especially her delicious tea cakes.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nerl Gene Coleman, her son, John Anthony Coleman, brothers,  Freddie Lemuel Keen and James Rawlins Keen both of Swainsboro, GA.
 
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Martha C. Vaughn of Athens, GA, William Nerl Coleman and Peggy of Magnolia, TX,  and Randall Marion Coleman and Patti of Nolensville, TN; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit the family on Friday, July 27, 6-8 p.m., at Moody-Daniel Funeral Home in Zebulon, GA, and again on Saturday, July 28, 10 a.m.-11 a.m., at Mt. Gap Church, The Rock, GA.  A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., at the church. Rev. Ted Coody and Bishop Timothy Lamb will officiate. Burial will be held at 4 p.m., in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Swainsboro, GA.

Mrs. Brenda Carol Holt

Mrs. Brenda Carol Asbury Holt, age 67, of Thomaston died Sunday, July 22, 2018, at her residence. 

Mrs. Holt was born May 25, 1951, in Tazwell VA, to the late Floyd and Virginia Asbury. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 30 years. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wayne Holt Sr. She is survived by her sons, Jerry Wayne "Pete" (Jeri) Holt Jr, and Matthew Holt; sisters, Mary Mathis, Linda (Ray) Wilder, and Evelyn Moyer; grandson, Stephen (Angela) Means; great-grandchildren, Leah Means, Kaia Moore, and Bubba Rentz. 

Memorial services for Mrs. Holt will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Linda Sue Raybon Ard

Mrs. Linda Sue Raybon Ard, age 60, of Molena died Friday, July 20, 2018, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin. 

Funeral services will be Monday July 23, 2018 5:00 PM at The Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ard was born April 12, 1958 in Upson Co., GA to the late Boyett Quitman Raybon and Margaret Gassett Raybon. She was a member of Vega Community Church, loved the outdoors and will always be remembered for the love she gave to her family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gary Raybon

Survivors include her husband, Lee Ard, Sr. of Molena, daughter, April Lynn Ard of Thomaston, son, Judson Lee Ard, Jr. and his wife Jessie of Concord, brothers, Steve Raybon, Barry Raybon , Boyett Raybon and his wife Kayrin all of Thomaston, sister, Marlene Wheeler and her husband (Tony) of Thomaston, 10 grandchildren.

Mr. James Edward Walls, 80 of Molena died July 21, 2018 at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin.

Funeral Services will be Monday July 23, 2018 11:00 AM at The Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery.

He was born September 16, 1937 in Thomaston, GA to the late James Willis and Mary Lou Clark Walls and was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation with 18 years of service.

Survivors include his daughters, Pam Robinson and her husband Stan and Cindy Amos and her husband Keith, sons, Jeff Walls and Johnny Walls, brothers, Otis Wall, Charles Wall and his wife Sherry, Ricky Wall and his wife Connie and Donald Wall and his wife Hilda sisters, Faye Barlett and her husband Mike, Connie Hawkins and her husband Troy, Ann Cato and Betty Sue Wall, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, close friends, Karen Walls and Ann Brooks.

MR. JAMES MICHAEL NEELEY

Mr. James Michael "Mike" Neeley age 64 of Thomaston Ga, died Saturday July 14, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Neeley was born on January 18, 1954 in Courtland N.Y., to the late James and Betty Neeley. He worked for Elpaso Corporation in the pipeline division for many years. Mr. Neeley was a member of the Morning Star Masonic Lodge #27 F&AM.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Kathy Neeley of Thomaston Ga, daughters Mrs. Amy (Marc) Ellington of Thomaston Ga, Dr. Nancy (Scott) Butler of Thomaston Ga, brother Mr. David Neeley of Thomaston Ga, sisters Mrs. Valerie Bunn of Griffin Ga, Mrs. Cindy (Larry) Helms of Thomaston Ga, grandchildren Cale Ellington & Anna Claire Ellington.

WILLIS LEE MATHEWS

Willis Lee Mathews age 62 died Tuesday July 10, 2018. He was know to family and friends as "Lee" or Willie".

A carpenter by trade, he was also an avid fisherman and a talented artist. He was well loved by everyone, as he had a quick wit. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Emmitt Mathews, his sister Jeannie (Tommy) Self and a baby brother. Survivors include his mother, Jean Baugh, sisters Laurie (Hubert) Gilbert and Lisa (John) Greene, brother David Mathews, ex-wife Laurel Mathews, daughter Amanda Mathews, grandson Gage Hovey, nieces Adrian Dawson, Heather (Joel) Brodnax, Meredith Greene, and Hannah Greene, grand niece Natalie Dawson, grand nephew Reeve Brodnax, faithful animal companions Lola the dog and Tripod the cat, as well as many aunts,uncles,and cousins.

A memorial service will be held in his honor at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday July 14, 2018 at Antioch Baptist Church at 2269 Yatesville-Barnesville Rd. in Yatesville, Ga.

MR. BEN JEFF ARD JR.

Mr. Ben Jeff (Benji) Ard, Jr. 43 of Thomaston died July 6, 2018 at Upson Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held Saturday July 14, 2018 1:00 PM at New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church on Delray Rd. 

Mr. Ard was born January 11, 1975 in Upson Co., GA to Ben Jeff Ard, Sr. and Mary Lee Brookins Ard. He was of the Baptist faith and was self employed in the construction industry.


Survivors include his children, Tina Denise Barfield and her husband Christopher of Warner Robins, GA, son Johnathen Ard of Thomaston, his parents, step-daughter, Alisha Dawn Morton and her husband John of SC, step-son, Christopher Michael King and his wife Jennifer of Milledgeville, brothers, Kevin Ard of Warner Robins, Mark Ard of Thomaston and Perry Ard of Thomaston, sister, Lucy McDaniel and her husband Jeff of Thomaston and one granddaughter.

Mr. Ard was preceded in death by his sister, Suzette Avery.

MRS. VIRGINIA B. BLOODWORTH

Mrs. Virginia B. Bloodworth, age 83, of Thomaston, died Monday, July 9, 2018, at her residence.   

Mrs. Bloodworth was born November 24, 1934, in Upson County to the late Marion and Lucy Beeland. She was a Spinner for the B.F. Goodrich's Martha Mills, and was a member of Prichett Memorial Baptist Church. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Phillip Bloodworth; son, Freddie Phillip Bloodworth; sister, Betty Birdsong; brothers, Jack Beeland and Pal Beeland. Survivors are her daughter, Betty Jane (Johnny) Allen; son, Marion (Terri) Bloodworth; sister, Doris (Franklin) Huckaby; brother, David (Joyce) Beeland; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Melvin Hartley Corley, 90, of Thomaston, died Sunday, July 8, 2018, at
Upson Regional Medical Center. Graveside memorial services for Mr. Corley

Church Cemetery. Mr. Corley was the retired owner/operator of Corley

Mrs. Carolyn Marston, age 78, of Molena, died Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin GA.

Mrs. Marston was born September 30, 1939, in Chichester NH, to the late Myron Leslie and Hazel Coburn Moore Sr. She was a seamstress for the Wm. Carter Co. and was a member of Emory's Chapel Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Orin Joseph Marston; and brothers, Myron Leslie Moore Jr. and Charles Franklin Moore. Survivors are her daughters, Sheryl M. (Ralph) McGourik, Lynda (Wendell) Teague; sons, David (Christy) Marston, Joey (Wanda) Marston; grandchildren, J.R. (Crystal) McGourik, Jennifer (Richard) Oglesby, Cole (Connie) Fowler, Jordan (Chassity) Fowler, Macy N. Marston, and Madison B. Marston; and 17 Great-grandchildren.

MRS. HOLLY VAN TEAL THOMAS

Mrs. Holly Van Teal Thomas, 78 of Thomaston died July 3, 2018 at her residence.

Funeral services will Saturday July 7, 2018 12:00 PM at the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas was born October 19, 1939  in Upson Co., GA to the late Joe and Effie Mae Long Teal. She was of the Baptist faith and worked in the Martha Mills as a spinner, Kmart Department Store and retired from Upson Regional Medical Center in the Dietary Department.

Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Ernest Teal, Joel Teal, Herman Teal, Terrell Teal, Johnny Teal and William "Bud" Teal and one sister, Dorothy Teal

Survivors include her son, Willie Joe Raybon and his wife Laura of Thomaston, daughters, Marion Daniel and her husband Jimmy of Thomaston, Diane Compton and her husband Phillip of Barnesville, Sherry Darlene Sheppard and her husband Andrew of Thomaston and Jackie Elaine Kinney of Thomaston, step-daughters, Evie Louise Lows and her husband Ricky of South Carolina and Faith Allen and her husband Keith of Fayetteville, GA, brothers, Gary Teal and his wife Dee of Sylvania, GA and Lamar Teal and his wife Teresa of Thomaston, fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

MR. RALPH W. MOORE SR.

Mr. Ralph W. Moore Sr., age 84, of Thomaston Ga, died Tuesday, July 2, 2018, at Providence Health and Rehab. 

Mr. Moore was born July 26, 1933, in Bristol TN to the late Whorley and Grace Moore. He retired from the GA DOT Sign Shop. 

He is survived by his daughter, Sandy (Chris) Patterson; daughter-in-law, Sheila Moore; son, Gary (Delores) Dean; grandchildren, Barbara Hopple, Katherine (Adam) Watkins, Adam (Donna) McDonald, Brian (Brittney) McDonald, Tony Dean, and Tiffany (Ross) Bell; great-grandchildren, Aiden Carr, Draven Hopple and Liam McDonald. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Jean Moore; son, Jim Moore; and brother, Howard "Jack" Moore.

MRS. ELIZABETH DAWSON SMITH

Mrs. Elizabeth Dawson Smith, 84, of Gainesville and formerly of Thomaston,,
died Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Resting Nest Assisted Living in Gainesville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held on Monday, July 2nd, 2018 at
11:00 AM in the chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Rev. Shane
Padgett and Rev. Joey Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Upson
Memorial Gardens. The family of Mrs. Smith will receive friends at
Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Mrs. Smith was born in Thomaston on March 13, 1934, a daughter of the late
James Ernest and Wilma Lucile Mauldin Dawson. She was a retired cloth
inspector for Thomaston Mills. She was a member of East Thomaston Baptist
Church.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen E. and Stan
Padgett of Gainesville; a sister, Diane (Walter) Slaton of Raleigh, NC;
three brothers, Ernest Dawson and Roy (Brenda) Dawson, both of Thomaston,
and Bobby Dawson of Jackson; a brother-in-law, Roswell Aydlotte of
Thomaston; three grandchildren, Rev. Shane (Julie) Padgett of Murrayville,
and Heath (Erin) Padgett and Haley (Randy) Byers, both of Gainesville; eight
great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Fred Smith, and a sister,
Rheunette Aydlotte.
