MR. JOSEPH VIRGIL JONES

Mr. Joseph "Joe" Virgil Jones, age 58, of Thomaston Ga, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at the Upson Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Jones was born July 4, 1959, in Upson County to the late Charles Edward and Mary Estelle Jones. He was an Electrician and member of Thomaston First Pentecostal Church.

He is survived by his nephews, Keline (Anna) Jones, and Lee Roy Jones; nieces, Stella Wolf, and Barbie Stevens; brothers, Cecil Jones, and Gerald (Mildred) Jones; and several great-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Glen Jones.  

Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018, at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 27, 2018, from 3:00 - 4:00 PM.

MR. OTIS ROSCOE FINCHER JR.

Mr. Otis Roscoe Fincher Jr. age 73 of Thomaston Ga, died Tuesday April 24, 2018 at The Medical Center of Central Georgia. 

Mr. Fincher was born on March 11, 1945 in Thomaston Ga, to the late Otis Roscoe Fincher Sr., and the late Bertha Lee Crosley Fincher. He worked as a loom fixer in the Martha Mill for many years. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Linda Lorene Daniel Fincher.

Survivors include his daughter Deena Lee (Mike) Hill of Thomaston Ga, sisters Lorene Burke of Zebulon Ga, Bessie Dinkins of Cobb Ga, Joanne Rayburn of Griffin Ga, Mary Smith of Griffin Ga, Gladys Ogletree Johnson of Thomaston Ga, grandson Trey Thrasher, great grand daughter Lacy Greene.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday April 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Friday April 27, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

MR. ROLAND TAUNTON

Mr. Roland Taunton, 74, of Thomaston died April 24, 2018 at his residence. 

Mr. Taunton was born on February 16, 1944 in Butler Ga, to the late Wanza Ward Taunton and the late Ludie Corrine Theus Taunton. He was formerly employed with Southern Rock where he worked as a truck driver until his retirement and also worked for Thomaston Electric for ten years. Mr. Taunton was of the baptist faith and a member of the Montgomery Masonic Lodge #31 F&AM and also served as a shriner. He loved western movies and enjoyed being retired.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Kathy Taunton of Thomaston Ga, sons Mr. Mark A. (Dee) Robinson of Thomaston Ga, Mr. Shane Robinson of Thomaston Ga, brothers Mr. Cecil (Dawn) Taunton of Tn, Mr. Joe (Zetha) Beason of Mi, sister Mrs. Linda (James) Abney of Abbeville Al, grandchildren Dustin Robinson, Katie Legg, Sydney Robinson, Jessica Robinson, great grandchildren Reagan Legg, Parker Scott.

MR. RYAN REDE ADAMS

Mr. Ryan Rede Adams age 36 of Zebulon Ga, died Saturday April 21, 2018 at his residence. 

Mr. Adams was born on November 15, 1981 in Canyon Tx, to Marlin Curtis Adams and Margaret Dee Lovett Adams. He graduated from Upson Lee Highschool and from Parker Chiropractic College where he received his doctorate. Mr. Adams owned and operated Foundation Chiropractic in Hampton Ga. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a member of the Georgia Chiropractic Association.

Master Princeton Michael Bradshaw, 2 months and 29 days old, died Friday April 13, 2018 at Upson Regional Medical Center.

MR. CECIL DOUGLAS NIX

Mr. Cecil Douglas Nix 66, of Thomaston died April 14, 2018 at Providence Health Care in Thomaston. 

Funeral services will be Monday April 16, 2018 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Nix was born June 7, 1951 in Thomaston to Wiley Amealus Nix and the late Ruby Laverne Chamblin Nix. He worked as a self employed plumber.

Mr. Nix was preceded in death by a brother, Wiley Eugene Nix and a sister, Marianne Nix Phagan

Survivors include his father, son, Chad Johnson and his wife Sharmon of Thomaston and grandchildren, Gabby Johnson and Carlea Foster.

MRS. MILDRED EDMONSON

Mrs. Mildred Edmonson, age 95, of Thomaston Ga, died on Friday, April 13, 2018, at Thomaston Manor. 

Mrs. Edmonson, was born in Reynolds Ga to the late, James Thomas and Georgia Ester Rutherford. She was a Lunch Room worker for Thomaston City Schools for 30 years, and member of Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lee Edmonson; brothers, Clarence James Rutherford, and Benny Frank Rutherford; and sisters-in-law, Priscilla carter Rutherford and Yvonne Taunton Rutherford. Survivors are her daughter, Gloria (Gene) Salter of Thomaston; son, James Edward "Eddie" (Sandra) Edmonson of Barnesville; sisters, Betty Rutherford Harrison, and Clayra Rutherford both of Thomaston; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

MR. JERE PATRICK GREER

Mr. Jere Patrick Greer, 82, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at
Upson Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mr. Greer will be held on Friday, April 13th, 2018 at
2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Barber officiating.
Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family of Mr. Greer will
receive friends in the Church Fellowship Hall on Friday from 1:00 PM until
the funeral hour.
Mr. Greer was born in Buford, GA on October 28, 1935, a son of the late
Walter Clifford and Dorthea Brooks Buice Greer. He attended North Georgia
College, then Mercer University where he played on the baseball team and
earned his Bachelor's Degree. At Mercer he was a member of the Phi Delta
Theta fraternity.
Mr. Greer founded the Jere Greer Store for Men in 1972 and operated the
business until his retirement in 2005.
Mr. Greer was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Thomaston
and served in various roles in the life of the church. He was the church
treasurer for many years, served on the Board of Deacons including a term as
vice chairman, also as Sunday School Superintendent, and Sunday School
teacher. 
He was a Mason and was a member of the Kiwanis Club. He will be remembered
as a man who loved his family and his church.
Mr. Greer is survived by his wife, Julia E. Greer; two children, Powell
(Chris) Hosey and Patrick (Lara) Greer, both of Thomaston; a sister, Anne
Mitchell of Buford; and four grandchildren, Mary Beth Hosey, Julianne Hosey,
Tripp Greer and Elliott Greer, all of Thomaston. He is also survived by a
nephew, Jeremy Mitchell; and two nieces, Brooks Anne Vadner and Greer
Christensen. 
He was preceded in death by an infant older brother, Walter Donald Greer; a
sister, Sandra Greer Christensen; and a nephew, Henrik Lee Christensen.

Church St., Thomaston, GA 30286.

Mrs. Foster was born on April 24, 1925 in Crisp County Ga, to the late Charles Easom and the late Bessie Hinson Easom. She was formerly employed with the Peerless Mill where she worked in the weave room for many years. Mrs. Foster was a member of Silvertown Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters Mrs. Brenda (Sidney) Keadle of Thomaston Ga, Mrs. Jean (Tony) Gassett of Meansville Ga, Mrs. Delorese (Kenneth) Pittman of Thomaston Ga, son Mr. Ray (Janice) Crutchfield of Thomaston Ga, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild.

Mrs. Katrina Fieseler Davis age 67 died Sunday April 8, 2018. 

Mrs. Davis was born on May 27, 1950 in Columbus Ga, to James Oscar Roberts and the late Hazel Rebecca Hinson Roberts. She was formerly employed with Atlanta Medical Center where she worked as a registered nurse for many years. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her mother Hazel Roberts, sons Scott Sharp & Nicholus Fieseler.

Survivors include her sons Mr. Brian Sharp of Cartersville Ga, Mr. Josh (Lynne) Fieseler of Ball Ground Ga, father Mr. James Roberts of Morgan City La, brother Mr. Glynn Roberts of Morgan City La, sisters Mrs. Julie Roberts of Morgan City La, Ms. Leisha Roberts of Pacolet S.C., 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Alice Nunley, age 74, of Lancastor S.C., formerly of Thomaston, died Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte N.C. 

Mrs. Nunley was born April 25, 1943, in Thomaston to the late Roger Lawson and Hattie Frances Blount Sr. She was a bus monitor for Houston county and member of the Fort Lawn Church of God Fort Lawn S.C.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Rodney) Bogue of Warner Robbins Ga; son, Curt (Dana) McAlum of Lancaster S.C.; sisters, Betty Hilton of Thomaston, Dorothy (Alfred) Shepard of Warner Robbins, Catherine Matthews of Thomaston, and Brenda (LR) Brock of The Rock; brothers, Roger Lawson Blount Jr of Macon, Sammy (Voncille) Blount of Thomaston, and Danny Blount of Thomaston; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Jody Bowman Hicks, 69, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018 at
Navicent Health, Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. Funeral
services for Mr. Hicks will be held on Friday, April 6th, 2018 at 2:00 PM in
the Chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Dr. Derrick R. Keeter and
Pastor Tim Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in the Yatesville United
Methodist Church Cemetery. The family of Mr. Hicks will receive friends at
Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Friday from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour. Mr.
Hicks was born in Manchester on August 31, 1948, a son of the late Edgar S.
and June Hicks. He held a Master's Degree in Public Administration and was
retired from Upson County 911. He was a member of Yatesville United
Methodist Church. Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife, Deborah Collins Hicks;
a sister, Ysland (Bill) Hicks-Jones of Little Rock, AR; a brother, Edgar
Stinnet (Deborah) Hicks of Eufaula, AL; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Harriet Supple, age 76, of Thomaston Ga, died Sunday, April 8, 2018, at her residence. 

Mrs. Supple was born May 29, 1941, in Boston MA to the late David and Mae Israel. She was a home maker and of the Jewish faith.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Supple.

MR. JACKIE DAVIS JR.

Mr. Jackie Davis, Jr. 50 of Thomaston died Tuesday April 3, 2018 at his residence. 

The family will receive friends Thursday April 5, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Coggins Funeral Home.

Mr. Davis was Born December 27, 1967 in Thomaston, GA to the late Jackie Eugene and Shirley Waters Davis, Sr.
He previously worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation in Thomaston and the City Of Griffin Water and Sewage Department. Mr. Davis was the owner of Davis Asphalt Maintenance Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents,  and his son, Shawn Davis

Survivors include his step-mother, Kathy Davis of Thomaston, sons, Scott and Brad Davis both of Thomaston, brother, Todd Davis and his wife Amy of Thomaston, step-brother, Grant Salter of Florida, step-sisters, Gina Means and her husband Chip of Thomaston and Rachel Wilder of Thomaston, 2 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Standard was born September 16, 1959 in Thomaston to the late Leon and Aimee Corley Standard. He was a member of First Assembly of God  and worked at both Upson Regional Medical Center and William Carter Company.

Mr. Tony L. Stansell, 63 of Thomaston died March 30, 2018 at his residence. 

Graveside services will be Tuesday April 3, 2018 11:00 AM at Zion's Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. 

Mr. Stansell was born September 3, 1955 in Bibb Co. GA to the late Troy David and Bessie Harwell Stansell.

He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and employed with Reddick Construction Company.

Mr. Stansell was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, David and Bentley Stansell.
