Julia Clyde Massengale Blount Hay

Julia Clyde Massengale Blount Hay, known as Judy, passed away On January 22, 2024.  She grew up in the Flat Shoals area of Pike and Meriwether Counties and graduated from Greenville High School.  She was one of 12 children born to the late Edd Preston Massengale and Lucille Cato Massengale. Judy worked at Walmart in Griffin for 15 years before retiring.  She attended Barnesville Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed word search puzzles, and watching cooking and home improvement shows. She loved spending time with her family.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Melvin G. Blount, M. K. Thaxton and R. T. Evans, brothers and sisters, James Massengale, Evelyn Bramlett, Mary Tidwell, Christine Key, Saleta Marcus, Doris Connell, Richard Massengale, Hiram Massengale, Elaine Brown, and Eula Fowler.

 

She is survived by her children: Wesley Michael Blount (Deborah) of Thomaston, Judith Leah Nicholson (Darrell) of Barnesville and Timothy Gaines Blount (Dawn Brown) of Barnesville; sister: Trisha Stevens of Griffin; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, 2 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens in Thomaston.

 

Friends may visit the family on Tuesday evening, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
