Mr. Lonnie Calvin Spangler, age 88, of Williamson, passed away September 22, 2023, at Brightmoor Hospice. Lonnie was born in the Pomona area of Spalding County and lived much of his life there. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army Reserves. He worked at Fort McPherson for over 30 years before retiring. Lonnie was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Griffin. He enjoyed fishing, was a fantastic woodworker, and a member of the Griffin Gun Club.
He is survived by his life-long friends: Tony and Kay Bass and Eric Moye all of Williamson; and cousin, Pete.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the First Christian Church, 291 S. Pine Hill Road, Griffin. Pastor Johan VanderMerwe will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin.
Friends may visit the family on Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the church.
