Donald R. Partin

Mr. Donald R. Partin, age 83, of Thomaston, died Saturday, September 2, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family. 

A memorial service for Mr. Partin will be held on Tuesday, September 5, at 2:00 PM at The Gathering with Rev. Charles Bennett officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at The Gathering. 

 

Mr. Partin was born in Lynn Camp, Kentucky on October 3, 1939, the son of the late Dewey Partin and the late Lula Mae Rose Partin. He was a 1958 graduate of Lynn Camp High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army where he primarily drove personnel carriers. He was employed by Continental Telephone which required him to move across the southeastern United States, and he would later retire as the regional manager. As an avid hunter, he remarked in high school that he wanted to be successful in business and to able to travel the world on various hunter expeditions, and he did just that. One of his proudest hunting excursions was to South Africa. He could also be summarized as an outdoorsman for his enjoyment of different fishing trips to Alaska and other places. Mr. Partin was a charter member of The Gathering where he was an active member. 

 

Mr. Partin is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Partin, his son, Scott (Margaret) Partin, all of Thomaston; and his nephew, Randy (Maxine) Simpson. Also surviving are many close friends who became family. 

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Partin was preceded in death by his sisters, Gurtie Simpson and Jan Mullins. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Gathering or to Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
