Mrs. Hammond was born on January 26, 1932 in Eastman Ga, to the late John Dowdy and the late Rosa Lee Dowdy. She worked as a Seamstress for the William Carter Company for many years and was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Mr. Gene Hammond, daughter Mrs. Leann Minyard, daughter in law Mrs. Donna Hammond, granddaughter in law Mrs. Kelly Hammond and several siblings.
Survivors include her son Mr. Scotty Hammond of Thomaston Ga, grandchildren Mr. Brian Hammond, Mrs. Carrie Tidwell, great grandchildren Corey Calvert, Carlie (Isaac) Daniel, Walker Hammond.
Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday May 28, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from Valley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Valley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at 1372 Atwater Rd. Thomaston Ga, 30286 or to the local Gideon Camp at P.O. Box 1034 Thomaston Ga. 30286.
