Miriam Mahaffey Weston

Mrs. Miriam Mahaffey Weston, age 77, of Concord, passed away April 30, 2024. Miriam grew up in the Atlanta area. Before graduating from Lake Shore High School, she was recruited by the FBI for her exceptional skills in shorthand, and later worked for the Georgia General Assembly. Miriam then accepted a position as a Foreign Assessment Security Analyst with the FAA, retiring after more than 30 years.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed camping and spending time with her grandchildren. Miriam was a talented organist and pianist. Over the years she played for multiple churches in the Atlanta area. She was a member of Zebulon First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, played the organ, and occasionally the piano.

She was preceded in death by her father, William “Bill” Mahaffey, and brother William Roy Mahaffey.

 

She is survived by her husband of 33 years: Jim Weston; children:  Rhonda Morris (Allan), Shane Turner (Julie), Jered Weston, and Chris Weston; grandchildren: Kelsey, Matthew, Megan, Mason, William, Kathryn and Tyler; mother: Mary Mahaffey; sister: Susan Davis (George); sister-in-law: Barbara Mahaffey; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery in Zebulon.

 

Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., at the funeral home.
