Judy Kathryn Shaver Bowles

Mrs. Judy Kathryn Shaver Bowles, age 74, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Upson Regional Medical Center.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Bowles will be held on Sunday, September 8, at 2:00 PM, at Thomaston First Baptist Church. Rev. Ted Kandler and Rev. Bryan McPherson will officiate, and interment will follow at South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Bowles was born in Crockett, Texas on March 15, 1950, a daughter of the late William Delbert Shaver, Sr. and the late Xenia Mae Vandiver Shaver. She was a 1968 graduate of Yatesville High School and later a 1972 graduate of Tift College. She was employed as a science teacher with Worthy Middle School and R.E. Lee Institute until her health wouldn't allow it. She was then a devoted homemaker and spent her time raising her children. Mrs. Bowles was a member of the Cherokee Rose Quilt Guild and Thomaston First Baptist Church.

 

Mrs. Bowles leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughters, Kelli Owen of Jackson, and Ashley (Jack) Reed of Thomaston; her son, Alex (Jillian) Bowles of St. Augustine, Florida; her sister, Deborah (Tom) Cox of Palatka, Florida; her brother, Bill (Lynn) Shaver of Thomaston; her eight grandchildren; Becca Owen, Jeffrey Owen, Sam Owen, Drew Reed, Morgan Reed, Madison Bowles, Micah Bowles, and Reese Bowles, and her nieces and nephews, Brandy Chastain, Bryan Shaver, Adam Bray, Claire Huckaby, Chris Driggers, and Chad Driggers.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert C. Bowles, Jr.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, www.lupus.org.
