Robert Leslie Harris

Mr. Robert Leslie Harris, age 92, of Fayetteville, and formerly of Thomaston, died Friday, April 12, 2024, at his daughter's residence in Fayetteville. 

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Harris will be held Monday, April 15, at 2:00 PM, at Thomaston First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Barber officiating. Inurnment will follow at South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, in the church fellowship hall on Monday.

 

Mr. Harris was born in Taylor County, GA, on October 26, 1931, to the late Martis Harris and the late Lucy Barfield Harris.  He served his country in the U.S. Air Force.  Mr. Harris was retired from Thomaston Mills Bleachery Division where he was a shop foreman, and after retirement, he was employed by Fletcher-Day Funeral Home for 16 years. Mr. Harris Served 11 years as Director of the Cancer Car Ministry of Upson County. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Thomaston where he served as a deacon and worked with the Pass the Salt Ministry for many years.

 

Mr. Harris is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Catherine Woodson Harris of Fayetteville; his daughter, Leslie Meyer of Fayetteville; his son, Roddy (Jesse Ogden) Harris of Atlanta; his two granddaughters: Breanna Meyer (Andy) Neubauer and Amber (Ian Maxon) Meyer; his great grandson, Luka Leslie Neubauer; his sister-in-law, Rachel Speir; and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Nixon. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his four sisters and four brothers.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Mr. Harris's memory to Thomaston First Baptist Church, Pass the Salt Ministry, 208 South Church Street, Thomaston, GA 30286.
