Mr. Townsend was born January 3, 1944, in Upson County, to the late Robert Lee Townsend and Lillian Drake Townsend. He was a Roofer and also worked at Keadle Lumber Company. He was a member and deacon of Mt. View Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sisters, Margie Webb and Mary Darsey; and brothers, Harvey Townsend and Robert Erskin Townsend.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Townsend; daughters, Rhonda (Lonnie) Fortner, Christy Kennedy, Kayla (Mike) Harris, and Tina Higner; sisters Frances Reese, and Dorothy Brown; brother, Aldine (Ellen) Townsend; and special care giver, Lisa Bragg.
Funeral services for Mr. Townsend will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 3:00 pm, at Mt. View Baptist Church. Burial to follow at Mt View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 8, 2024, from 2:00 - 3:00 pm at Mt View Baptist Church. Coggins Funeral Home
