Mr. Ford was born on June 22, 1948 in Upson County, to the late Clarence Ford and to the late Irene Ford Garrett. He served his country in the US Navy in Vietnam, owned Georgia Concrete Company and worked in sales at Cemex Concrete for many years. After retiring he then went on to drive a school bus for the Upson and Pike County School Systems for five years. Mr. Jimmy was a member of Clarks Chapel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Mark Smith, and brother, Jackie Ford.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn "Carol" Ford of Thomaston, Karen (Jeff) Kennedy of Thomaston, Cindy Ford of Whitesburg, son, Jimmy "Jim" Ford Jr. of Georgia, brother, Charles Ford of Florida, sisters, Rhonda Taylor and Charlene Hamm both of Hazelhurst, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, aunt, Laverne Hayes of Newnan, and uncle, Walter Allen of Carollton.
Graveside memorial services will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 1:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m at Coggins Funeral Home.
