Priscilla Walrath

Mrs. Priscilla Walrath, age 97, passed away Sunday evening, February 4th, 2024, at Brightmoor

 

Hospice. She was born in Syracuse, New York. She was raised on the family farm and played the clarinet in the high school marching band. She graduated high school in 1944 and went to work in a munitions factory during WWII. Afterward she worked for Bell Telephone as an operator. She married Donald Walrath in 1947 and became a Navy wife. They had daughter Julia in October of 1948 and son John in September 1951. Her family characterized her as a “professional housewife.” She mastered the many tasks required of that occupation and made her family feel well taken care of and her friends felt appreciated. After the children were grown, she studied art and was known for her beautiful oil paintings. She was an active member of Westbury United Methodist Church in Houston for the past 48 years.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Cameron Walrath and her son, John Floyd Walrath.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Julia and son-in-law Kenneth Julius Moore.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 10, at 11 a.m., in the Concord Methodist Church.  Pastor Ron Griffin will officiate. 

 

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the church.

 

A graveside service and burial will be held in Woodlawn Garden of Memories in Houston, TX.
