Diane Lynn Espy

Diane Lynn Espy, of Powder Springs, GA, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the age of 74, after a short battle with cancer.  She was born in Cleveland, OH on March 12, 1949, to the late Ernest and Helen Farmer.

Diane loved Jesus and was a member of Macland Baptist Church.  She had a long career with US Foods and retired after 35 plus years of service.  Her passion for her job showed in the relationships with her customers, which turned into friendships.  Diane was known for her delicious cooking and her giving heart.  She was known to help anyone in need, especially kids. She has been known to call a school and pay for kids to have lunches, that otherwise wouldn’t eat.

Diane held her friends close to her heart, which included a small, close-knit group in which she enjoyed going on cruises, dancing, laughing, dinner dates and just having fun together.  One of her greatest friends for over 40 years, was Kim Yonek, who accompanied Diane on many of these great life adventures. Diane enjoyed life immensely and took advantage of the time and friendships she made.  Everyone who met her loved her.  While at Brightmoor Assisted Living, she made another best friend, Paris Scott, and enjoyed spending time hanging out with her, including much good nature teasing and trading barbs.

Diane’s most prized title was Maw-Maw.  She was the proudest grandmother and could talk endlessly about her grandchildren. Before she became sick, she loved taking her grandchildren shopping and spoiling them.  If they had a special event, she made sure to be there to celebrate, no matter the distance.  Each conversation always included Diane asking about her grandchildren and grandpuppies. While at Brightmoor, Diane especially enjoyed the surprise visit from her grandpuppy, Sully.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Kelly (Lee) Huffman of Williamson, GA; Tommy Tyler Jr. of Fort Smith, AR; Tammi Sullenberger of Newnan, GA; Jeff (Elena) Espy of Buford; Gina (Jeff) Hanson of Lawrenceville; grandchildren: Timothy Murphy, Zachary Murphy, Emma Murphy, Abigail Murphy, Camden Huffman and Easton Huffman; great-granddaughter, Scarlette Murphy; brother, Gary Farmer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her baby sister, love of her life and husband, David Espy and son-in-law, Brent Sullenberger.

Please join us in celebrating the wonderful life of Diane on February 23, 2024, at 11:00 am at Macland Baptist Church located at 3732 Macland Rd. SW in Powder Springs, GA.
