Mr. Boyt was born March 8, 1940, in Thomaston, to the late Emmett Lawson Boyt and the late Ollie Shaw Boyt. He retired from GA DOT after 34 years and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Reba Lavenia Rogers Boyt, and second wife, Brenda Garland Boyt.
Survivors include his daughter, Tammy (Barry) Wheeless of Thomaston; grandchildren, Carrie (Lee) Watson, Caleb (Makenzie) Wheeless; great grandchildren, Emmett Carter Watson and Samuel Memphis Wheeless; and lifelong friends, Emory and Omie Pitts.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. from Mountain View Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.
