rs. Cheryl Childree, age 72, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin.
Mrs. Childree was born on April 9, 1948 in Thomaston to the late James Edward Smith and the late Evelyn Partain Smith. She retired from Windstream/Alltel Telephone Company after 30 plus years, and then went on to work at State Farm in Barnesville. She was a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas Alton Childree, sister, Darande Holsenbeck, daughter, Barbette Childree.
Survivors include her daughters, Sherri (Alex) Kent of Freeport, FL, Bridgette (Kevin) Chamblee of Thomaston, brother, Conrad (Gloria) Smith of Thomaston, sisters, Linda Walters of Thomaston, Cynthia Shumate of Thomaston, Melia (Joel) Guy of Butler, grandchildren, Matt (Katie) Watts, Ben Chambley, Anna (Keith) Pippins, Hayley (Parker) Elder, Logan Kent, great-grandchildren, Cooper Watts, and Will Elder.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Southview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.
