Mr. Willie Paul "Bill" Mewbourn, age 89, of Thomaston GA, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Brightmoor Hospice.
Mr. Mewbourn was born on September 12, 1931 in Emanuel County, Georgia, to the late Clyde Mewbourn and the late Alice Hilderbrandt Mewbourn. He worked for the Thomaston Police Department and the Upson County Sheriff's Office then retired from the State of Georgia after 20 plus years of service. He was a member of Pritchett Memorial and attended Shiloh Baptist Church and Jeff Davis Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his eight brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Mewbourn of Thomaston, daughter, Sandra McDuffie of Thomaston, sons, Larry Mewbourn of Thomaston, Todd Mewbourn and wife Melinda of Thomaston, granchildren, Chase (Morgan) Mewbourn, Lauren Mewbourn, and great-granchild, Riley Mewbourn.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 26, 2020 from 1:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.
