MR. GEORGE ABERSON GIBBY SR.

Mr. George Aberson Gibby Sr. (76) of Warner Robins, GA dies Saturday December 7, 2019 at Houston Healthcare.

Mr. Gibby was born in 1943 in Upson County, GA to the late James Aberson Gibby and Mattie Beatrice Gibby.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters Mattie Ruth Tenny and Janey Beatrice King.  After leaving high school, George joined the US Navy to begin his independent life as a mechanic in the Sea Bees, serving his country and retiring as a Chief Petty Officer.  He has tours in Vietnam, the South Pacific, and Antarctica.  George married his wife, Alandis, with whom he had five children who he loved very much.  Following his retirement from the Navy, George worked and retired from Schlumberger and Weyerhaeuser.

George lived many places with his family including, Georgia, California, Nevada, and Louisiana.  He enjoyed sports such as baseball, football, and racquetball and hobbies such as carpentry, mechanics, metalwork, and any problem to be solved.  In all things, he had a sense of humor.  He was also a fan of Louis L'Amour for his western novels.

From the beginning, George was a family man.  When once asked by one of his younger children why he worked hard with the hours he worked, he merely said, "I have to take care of my family."  He willingly served God, his country, and his family all his life.  George was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church of Thomaston, GA.  His service included the Men's Ministry and teaching Sunday school.  He was a mentor, teacher, friend and father.  He will be missed.

Funeral Services for Mr. Gibby will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with burial to follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.  Family with receive friends one hour prior to the service.
