Tink was an avid fisherman and loved to fish the Flint River, Potato Creek and many lakes and ponds on a regular basis. Many of his catches are mounted and preserved to a monument to his success. He also coached youth baseball and church league softball teams, leading them to numerous championships. He was a former member for many years of Clark's Chapel Baptist Church and for the past eighteen years he endured the preaching of his son as a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. `
