Mrs. Britt was a life-long resident of Thomaston, born on March 19, 1940.
She was a daughter of the late Edmund Paul and Eva Melrose Salter
Greathouse. She was a graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and was retired from
the William Carter Company in Griffin after 40 years of service.
Mrs. Britt was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren and
their friends frequently enjoyed Saturday morning breakfasts at "Grandma
Polly's." She was the kind of person that always wanted to take care of
everyone else before she stopped to think about herself. Her granddaughters
will always remember going out to eat, then to Walmart to buy a toy, and
then to the Ritz to see a movie. She hosted countless sleepover and pool
parties throughout the years and make sure everyone had whatever they wanted
to eat on hand at all times. She enjoyed cooking for others and loved her
dogs.
Mrs. Britt was a member of the New Hope Fellowship Baptist Church.
Mrs. Britt is survived by her sons, Steven A. (Madelyn) Brown, Jr., and Ken
(Kim) Brown, both of Thomaston; her sister, Melrose G. Legg of Thomaston;
three grandchildren, Jessica (Jonathan) Nixon, Stephanie (Michael) Mann, and
Jordan (Edric) Mayienga; a niece, Teresa Higgs, and a nephew, Chris (Debbie)
Legg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven A. Brown, Sr.
