Mrs. Marion Keen Coleman

Mrs. Marion Keen Coleman, age 85, of The Rock, GA, passed away July 24, 2018, at The Oaks Nursing Center in Athens, GA. She was born in Swainsboro, GA, daughter of the late John Frederick Keen and Maddie McDaniel Keen. Mrs. Coleman worked for the Barnesville Housing Authority and was the Comptroller for Gordon College. She was a long-time member of Mt. Gap Church at The Rock, GA, where she and her husband, Nerl, worked tirelessly on projects at the church and also at Mt. Gap Campground, formerly Camp Louisa Jones, which Rev. Coleman built.
 
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to her family and her church, and her baking, especially her delicious tea cakes.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nerl Gene Coleman, her son, John Anthony Coleman, brothers,  Freddie Lemuel Keen and James Rawlins Keen both of Swainsboro, GA.
 
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Martha C. Vaughn of Athens, GA, William Nerl Coleman and Peggy of Magnolia, TX,  and Randall Marion Coleman and Patti of Nolensville, TN; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit the family on Friday, July 27, 6-8 p.m., at Moody-Daniel Funeral Home in Zebulon, GA, and again on Saturday, July 28, 10 a.m.-11 a.m., at Mt. Gap Church, The Rock, GA.  A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., at the church. Rev. Ted Coody and Bishop Timothy Lamb will officiate. Burial will be held at 4 p.m., in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Swainsboro, GA.
