Mrs. Ellington was born January 17, 1944 in Thomaston to the late William and Utha Shumate. She retired from the William Carter Company, and was a member of the Thomaston First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Harvey Ellington; daughter, Julie (Chuck) Harris of Thomaston; aunt, Christine Bailey of Thomaston; grandson, Will Harris; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her sister, Genelle Stubbs.
Graveside services for Mrs. Ellington will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, from 12:30 - 2:00 PM at Coggins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Upson Cancer Car, c/o Cary Pitts, 300 Upson Ave, Thomaston GA 30286; or The First Baptist Church, Pass The Salt Ministry, 208 S. Church St Thomaston GA 30286.
