MR. ANGELO MICHAEL MERCURIO

Mr. Angelo Michael Mercurio was born on October 2, 1928, in Piermont, NY, to the late Cecelia and John Mercurio. He was in management at International Paperboard for more than 40 years and retired in 1988.  He was a veteran and served in the United States Navy as a Medic from 1948-1950 and the United States Army as a Medic from 1951-1953. He volunteered as Civilian Defense, Fireman and Emergency Squad (20 years) and Ambulance Corps. (20 years).
 
He was an avid senior softball player for more than 20 years with many softball awards, championships and friends. He was inducted into the Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 2010. He was a Christian and a member of Silvertown Baptist Church in Thomaston, GA. He loved to make spaghetti sauce, traveling to the Tennessee mountains and watching the Atlanta Braves and Fox News.
 
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecelia and John Mercurio and his brother, Joe Mercurio.
 
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Marie Mercurio of Thomaston, GA. He is also survived by his children, John Mercurio of Daytona Beach, FL, Gary Mercurio of New Paltz, NY, Angelo Mercurio Jr. of Elizabeth, NJ, Terri Mercurio of Stony Point, NY and Ashley Rabon of Atlanta, GA, siblings, John (Jean) Mercurio of Deerfield Beach, FL, Ann Hickey of Piermont, NY,  Connie Lynch of Piermont, NY and Tess McCormick Rasso of Piermont, NY and mother-in-law, Nancy (Tony) Long of Greenville, GA.
 
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Saturday July 15, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Angelo to the Fisher House Foundation. You can find information to donate at donate.fisherhouse.org.
