Rachel LaRose Herring

Mrs. Rachel LaRose Herring age 88 of Port Saint Lucie Fl, formerly of Thomaston Ga, passed away Tuesday November 8, 2022 at her residence. 

 

LaRose was born on March 3, 1934. She was the fifth and youngest child of Jonnie Lloyd Hardy, Sr. and Unice Oneida Thompson. LaRose is predeceased by her parents, her brother Jonnie Lloyd, Jr., sisters Frances Pauline, Helen Drucilla, brother Jimmie and sister Jeanne Renee. She is also predeceased by her husband Reverend Fred Leon Herring, son Fred David Herring, daughter Cynthia Denise Davis and grandson Samual Elijah Davis.

 

LaRose is survived by her son Timothy Glenn Herring, his spouse Kimberly and their 2 sons Jesse and Braden.

 

LaRose attended Columbia Bible College for 2 1/2 years. After marriage and three children she achieved her Bachelors degree Cum Laude at the University of Maryland and began teaching in an elementary school. She later became a Title 1 Math Resource Teacher and earned 2 Masters Degrees in Education from Loyola College, MD which enabled her to advance her career and become a Pupil Personnel worker for the state of Maryland and she continued in this position until her retirement in 1999.

 

After her retirement, she and her husband Fred Leon Herring moved back to their hometown of Thomaston, GA where they enjoyed the company of family and dear friends.

 

LaRose had a good eye for decorating and kept a lovely home. She was a gracious host and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She also enjoyed serving her church, antiques, art, traveling and spending time with her three grandsons. She was elegant and refined, but would often surprise you with her quick wit and laughter.

 

Above all, she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

 

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday November 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Saturday November 19, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
