MR. JOHN ROSS YARBROUGH

Mr. John Ross Yarbrough age 52 of Thomaston Ga, died Wednesday July 26, 2017 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Mr. Yarbrough was born on February 28, 1965 in Thomaston Ga, to Johnnie Jimmerson Yarbrough and the late Marvin Yarbrough. He was employed with Home Depot where he worked in sales. Mr. Yarbrough was a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church where he served as former pastor. He was preceded in death by his brother James Yarbrough.

Survivors include his daughters Dana (Tyler) Griffin of Cameron N.C, Abby Yarbrough of Griffin Ga, Tessa Yarbrough of Griffin Ga, Rebecca Adams of Thomaston Ga, Rachel (Justin) Smith of Thomaston Ga, son Hunter (Olivia) Yarbrough of Greenville S.C, mother Johnnie Yarbrough of Thomaston Ga, grandchildren Avery Griffin, John Keith Adams, Jackson Adams.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday July 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from Clark's Chapel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

MRS. DORIS MAE PFANNKUCHE

Mrs. Doris Mae Pfannkuche, age 91 of Thomaston, died Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Harborview Health and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Pfannkuche, was born in Hogansville Ga, to the late Joseph and Rusha Ella Slate. She retired from Verizon Communications as a clerk and attended Silvertown Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Pfannkuche; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Gore of Thomaston; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pfannkuche will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Upson Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 22, 2017, from 12:00 - 2:00 PM.

Mr. Alvin Jimmerson, 90, of Thomaston, died Thursday, July 13th, 2017 at Riverside Health and Rehab.
Funeral services for Mr. Jimmerson will be held on Sunday, July 16th, 2017 at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Hendricks Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family of Mr. Jimmerson will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the funeral hour.

MR. JAMES WILLARD SHEPARD

Mr. James Willard Shepard age 89 of Thomaston Ga, died Friday July 14, 2017 at Upson Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Shepard was born on March 25, 1928 in LaFayette Al, to the late Jim Shepard and the late Linnie Thompson Shepard. He was formerly employed with Federal Paperboard where he worked for many years. Mr. Shepard served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Jeanette Shepard of Thomaston Ga, daughter Mrs. Shirley (Doug) Morris of Thomaston Ga, son Mr. Dennis (Kris) Shepard of Thomaston Ga, brothers Mr. Alfred (Dorothy) Shepard of Warner Robins Ga, Mr. Frank (Laverne) Shepard of Thomaston Ga, 4 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday July 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from Mountain View Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Monday July 17, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

MR. WILBUR HOMER SIMMONS

Mr. Wilbur Homer Simmons age 68 died Thursday July 13, 2017 at August University Medical Center.

Mr. Simmons was born on April 4, 1949 in Taylor County Ga, to the late John Willis Simmons and the late Frances Jewell McDaniel Simmons. He worked as a painter. Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his parents and brother Roy Simmons.

Survivors include his daughters Lisa Becham of Gray Ga, Paula Wood of Lizella Ga, son Bobby Simmons of Lizella Ga, brothers Phil (Robin) Simmons of Lizella Ga, Larry Simmons of Macon Ga, Ricky (Christy) Simmons of Lizella Ga, Floyd (Beth) Simmons of Lizella Ga, sisters Fannie (Carl) Cleveland of Thomaston Ga, Carol Bloodworth of Byron Ga, Lula Mae Furr of Macon Ga, Mary Frances (Gerald) Johnson of Thomaston Ga, Connie (Tony) McCord of Arnoldsville Ga, grandchildren Eric Howell, Brandon Howell, Grace Ward, Luke Ward, Braelyn Simmons, Braden Simmons, great grandchildren Landen Howell, Brantley Howell.

MS. KAYLA DANIELLLE BELLAMY

Ms. Kayla Danielle Bellamy, age 24, of Thomaston, died Thursday, July 13, 2017, at the Upson Regional Medical Center.

Ms. Bellamy was born April 6, 1993, in Spalding County to Michelle Daniel and Phil Bellamy. She worked at Freshway Market in Zebulon, attended New Salem Baptist Church in Griffin, and was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Thomaston.

She is survived by her mother and step-father, Shelly (Rodney) Lloyd of Thomaston; father, Phil Bellamy of Thomaston; sister, Amber (Henry) Lovelady of Griffin; brothers, Neal Ingram, Jeremy (Rainee) Lloyd, Josh Lloyd, Heath Lloyd, and Jonathan Lloyd all of Thomaston.

Memorial services for Ms. Bellamy will be held on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Northside Baptist Church in Thomaston. In lieu of flowers memorial donations my be made to the Kayla Bellamy Memorial Fund, 321 Hannahs Mill Rd. Thjomaston GA 30286.

MRS. RITA BERRY GREEN

Mrs. Rita Berry Green, age 43, of Thomaston, died Sunday, July 9, 2017, at the Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Green was born on January 24, 1974 in Thomaston Ga, to Ruth Elaine Berry and the late Billy David Berry. She was employed with the Thomaston Upson County School System where she worked as a kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Green was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband Billy Green of Thomaston Ga, daughter Presley Addison Green of Thomaston Ga, son Nash William Green of Thomaston Ga, mother Ruth Berry of Thomaston Ga, sister Greta Berry (Bryan) Trickel of The Rock Ga.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday July 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from Mountain View Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Mountain View Baptist Church Family Life Center Gym on Friday July 14, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

MR. ANGELO MICHAEL MERCURIO

Mr. Angelo Michael Mercurio was born on October 2, 1928, in Piermont, NY, to the late Cecelia and John Mercurio. He was in management at International Paperboard for more than 40 years and retired in 1988.  He was a veteran and served in the United States Navy as a Medic from 1948-1950 and the United States Army as a Medic from 1951-1953. He volunteered as Civilian Defense, Fireman and Emergency Squad (20 years) and Ambulance Corps. (20 years).
 
He was an avid senior softball player for more than 20 years with many softball awards, championships and friends. He was inducted into the Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 2010. He was a Christian and a member of Silvertown Baptist Church in Thomaston, GA. He loved to make spaghetti sauce, traveling to the Tennessee mountains and watching the Atlanta Braves and Fox News.
 
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecelia and John Mercurio and his brother, Joe Mercurio.
 
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Marie Mercurio of Thomaston, GA. He is also survived by his children, John Mercurio of Daytona Beach, FL, Gary Mercurio of New Paltz, NY, Angelo Mercurio Jr. of Elizabeth, NJ, Terri Mercurio of Stony Point, NY and Ashley Rabon of Atlanta, GA, siblings, John (Jean) Mercurio of Deerfield Beach, FL, Ann Hickey of Piermont, NY,  Connie Lynch of Piermont, NY and Tess McCormick Rasso of Piermont, NY and mother-in-law, Nancy (Tony) Long of Greenville, GA.
 
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Saturday July 15, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

MR. GEORGE S. "BUG" WATSON JR.

Mr. George S. "Bug" Watson Jr, age 81, of Fayetteville, formerly of Thomaston, died Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the West Georgia Medical Center in Lagrange GA.

Mr. Watson was born in Upson County to the late George S. and Tilda R. Watson Sr. He was  owner of L&L Sweeping and Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

He is survive by his wife, Linda Watson; daughter, Michele (Russell) Tilman of Fayetteville; son, Neal Watson of Fayetteville; and 3 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by several sisters and brothers.

Memorial services and visitation for Mr. Watson will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Coggins Funeral Home.

MRS. HELEN CAROLYN BYNUM

Mrs. Helen Carolyn Bynum, age 85, of Thomaston, died Monday, July 10, 2017, at Riverside Health and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Bynum was born September 4, 1931, in Butler County AL, to the late James H. and Lillie Johns McKinley. She retired from the B.F. Goodrich Martha Mills spinning room with 38 years of service and member of the Thomaston Church of God.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Catherine M. Kirkland. Surviors are her daughter, Joy (Hulon) Burnette of Thomaston; brothers, James Douglas McKinley of Griffin, and William Harvey (Barbara) McKinley of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Chris (Jena) Burnette, and Cassie (Brent) Johnson; and great-grandchild, Weston Johnson.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bynum will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Southview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM.

MR. DAN ALLEN STILES

Mr. Dan Allen Stiles, age 71, of Thomaston Ga, died Friday, July 7, 2017, at his residence.

Mr. Stiles was born January 2, 1946, in Thomaston, to the late Margie H. and Allen L. Stiles. He was a teacher for Savannah Public Schools for more than 30 years, Instructor at Southern Crescent Technical College, member of the First United Methodist Church, and Veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen L. and Margie H. Stiles. Survivors are his cousins, Diane (Phil) Davis of Columbus, Sam (Anne) Hartin of Columbus, Jean (Rachel) Hartin of Columbus, Sue Turbow of Chicago IL, Reggie (Suzanne) Hartin of Albany,John Hartin of Baltimore MA, and numerous other cousins; loyal and faithful friends, Scotty Barron and Richard Black.

Graveside services for Mr. Stiles will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at 2:00 PM in Park Hill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd. Columbus GA 31907.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 10, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Coggins Funeral Home.

Mr. Robert Lawson Daniel Jr., age 66, of Thomaston, died Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Providence Health and Rehab Center.

Mr. Daniel, was born December 3, 1950, in Upson County to the late Robert D. and Sarah S. Daniel SR. He worked for the Thomaston Home Depot in the Garden Center. 

He is preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Carlton Daniel. Survivors are his son, Robbie (Fran) Daniel; brother, Steve (Kathy) Daniel; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren all of Thomaston.

Visitation and memorial services for Mr. Daniel will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Coggins Funeral Home.

Mr. Robbins was born on December 3, 1964 in Thomaston Ga, to Harold Robbins and Phyllis Cochran Hancock. He worked as a truck driver.
