MR. WILLIAM EDWARD LOGUE

Mr. William Edward Logue age 65 of Thomaston Ga, died Tuesday June 26, 2018.

Mr. Logue was born on July 10, 1952 in Thomaston Ga, to Faye Harvell Grant and the late William Ben Logue. He was formerly employed with Jackson State Prison where he worked as a correctional officer for many years. Mr. Logue was a member of Northside Baptist Church.  

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Margie Logue of Thomaston Ga, daughters Mrs. Angie Hudson of Dublin Ga, Miss. Cheyenne Logue of Thomaston Ga, Mrs. Karen Myers of Cornelia Ga, Mrs. Dustee Edwards of Thomaston Ga, son Mr. Christopher Logue of Thomaston Ga, mother Mrs. Faye Grant of Thomaston Ga, brother Mr. Terry Logue of Thomaston Ga, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday July 1, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Saturday June 30, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

MRS. LELIA MAE PARKER MCKINLEY

Mrs. Lelia Mae Parker McKinley, 94 of Thomaston died June 26, 2018 at Providence Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be Thursday June 28, 2018 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Trice Cemetery.

Mrs. McKinley was born May 5, 1924 in Taylor Co., GA to the late Henry and Ella Booth Parker. She was retired from Thomaston Mills  and was a member of the Faithful Christian Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herbert O. McKinley and brother, Henry Martin Parker , Jr. and four sisters, Marie Dominy, Lillian Smith, Joyce Golik and Annette Parker.

Survivors include her daughters, Phyllis Kilby and her husband Ronnie of Thomaston and Toni Hickmon and her husband Rickey of Thomaston, sister, Johnzalene Burris and her husband Bruce of Peachtree City, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at Coggins Funeral  Home.

William Franklin Nunn, Sr., 73 of Thomaston died at his residence on June 24, 2018. Memorial Services for Frank will be held on Sunday July 1, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Thomaston First Baptist. Rev. Bill Barber will officiate. MR. DEWEY GLENN DRIVER, 88

Mr. Dewey Glenn Driver, 88 years of age, of Thomaston died June 23, 2018 at his residence.
 
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Yatesville Baptist Church, Yatesville, Georgia with military honors. Rev. John Wesley Long, IV and Rev. Daniel Ishee officiating.
 
Mr. Driver was born June 29, 1929 in Birmingham, AL to the late Clarence and Carrie Sharpe Driver. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
 
Mr. Driver retired from BF Goodrich Martha Mill with 45 years of service and from English's Pool Room with 30 years of service. 
 
He also sang with the Harmony Boys Quartet for many years and was a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church. 
 
Mr. Driver will always be remembered by his family as a devoted husband and loving and caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Doug Driver, sister, Clariece  Patterson, brother-in-laws, Donald Haywood and Marion White
 
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Bessie Ruth Moulton Driver of Thomaston, son, Steve Driver (Karen) of Thomaston, brother, Donald Driver (Juanita) of Thomaston, sisters, Dorothy Folds (Danny Moon) of Meansville, Barbara Haywood of Pike County  and Colleen White of Forsyth, sister-in-law, Mary Driver of Thomaston, three grandchildren, Britney Ishee (Daniel), Lindsay Long (John Wesley) and Brett Driver, five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Faith, Macie, Aliyah and Noah Ishee and many nieces and nephews.
 
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

DORIS BEULAH HEAD ANTHONY

Doris Beulah Head Anthony, born April 1, 1928, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at the age of 90.  She was born to the late Corine Brownlow Head, deceased 1991, and George Howard Head, deceased 1965, of Thomaston, Georgia, and she lived and loved her entire life in this area.

Doris worked for 50 years in the textile industry, working alongside her husband in the same departments at Thomaston Mills and Callaway Mills in Manchester (later Dearing-Milliken).  Then they retired together to own and operate Anthony’s Lake on the outskirts of Molena, on their family property.  They partnered in the family farm and raised their two children in that lovely rural setting, attending and enthusiastically participating in activities at Smyrna Baptist Church for all of their adult lives. Anyone who knew Doris appreciated her loyalty to family, church and friends. 

Mrs. Anthony was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William Lewis Anthony who passed away in 2004; a grandson, William Brian Harden, deceased in 1991; a sister, Hazel Gaultney, deceased in 1988; a brother, Milton Head, deceased in 1968; a sister, Geraldine Conkle, deceased in 2011;and an infant brother, A.B. Head, deceased in 1932. 

Left behind to mourn her are her children: a son, William Wayne (Barbara) Anthony of Molena, and a daughter, Teresa Anthony (Stan-deceased 2013) Watson of Griffin; grandchildren David A. Harden of Griffin, Shannon Anthony of LaGrange, Lisa Anthony Roberts, Joe Anthony, Casey (April) Clark all of Thomaston and Kelly Clark (Curt) Williams of North Carolina; great grandchildren Madeleine, Brody, Lilly, Ava, Gage, Megan, Taylor and Caitlyn.

Friends and relatives may visit the family at Coggins Funeral Home from Noon to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 25, and funeral services will be held in the Chapel at Coggins Funeral Home at 2 p.m. immediately following the visitation on June 25, 2018.The Reverend Geoffrey Zimbleman of Smyrna Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery.

MRS. SHELIA CUMBESS MONCRIEF GREEN

Mrs. Shelia Cumbess Moncrief Green, 61 of Thomaston died June 22, 2018 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

Funeral services will be Sunday June 24, 2018 2:00 PM at he Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Green was born July 25, 1956 to the late James Thomas Scarbary and Ottie Grace Hobbs Cumbess. She was member of the City of Refuge Church and retired from Southern Mills with 20 years of service. 

Survivors include her husband Vernon Green of Thomaston, daughters, Karen Moncrief White (Christopher) of Thomaston and Kelly Moncrief Gunnels (Shane) of Macon, step-son, Paul Allen Green -Thomaston, brother, L. Lee Collins of Alvaton, GA, sisters, Hattie Scarbary of Alvaton, GA and Katrina McNair of Atlanta, seven grandchildren, Devin Moncrief Green, Katen Gabriel Green, Allison Paige Cochran, Bridget Leigh Childers, Destiny Grace Cochran, Abigail White and William Cole Cochran.

Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her husband Jeffery Moncrief, parents, William I. and Ottie Grace Hobbs Cumbess, biological father, James Thomas Scarbary and her sister, Angela Fletchinger.

MR. DAVID LEE GRIFFIN, 70

Mr. David Lee Griffin, age 70, of Thomaston, died Friday, June 21, 2018, at Upson Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Griffin was born April 18, 1948, in Upson County. He was an electrician for Thomaston Mills and Crown Technologies, and Marine Corp Veteran of the Vietnam War. 

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Griffin; daughter, Tammie McKenley; sons, Jonathan Smith and Todd Griffin; sister, Rexcene Dewberry; grandchildren, Tiffany Mitchell, Rusty Mitchell, Phoebe Smith and Opie Smith. He is preceded in death by his sister, Evelene Williams; and brothers, Bennie Griffin and C.W. Griffin.

MRS. MARY YVONNE YOUNG

Mrs. Mary Yvonne Young, age 67, of The Rock, died Monday, June 18, 2018, at The Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Young was born August 31, 1950, in Pike County, to the late Grover Ferman and Emma Lee Crane. She worked at the Peerless Mill, was a house wife, and a member of Pritchett Memorial Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her husband, Roger Young; son, Lewis (Cindy) Wade; sisters, Lindie Morris and Janie Wright; brother, James Crane; grandson, Michael Wade; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, Freddie Crane.

MR. GEORGE CLAYTON SIMMONS, 67

Mr. George Clayton Simmons, age 67, of Thomaston Ga, died Sunday, June 17, 2018, at his residence. 

Mr. Simmons was born August 15, 1950, in Hawkinsville GA, to the late Thaxton and Faustine Davis Simmons. He was a counselor for Jackson State Prison, member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member. 

He is survived by his wife, Jan Simmons; sons, Andy Simmons and Blake (Lauren) Simmons; sisters, Frances NeSmith, and Deborah Simmons; brother, Leroy Simmons; and grandson, Jack Simmons.

Mr. Wesley Lamar Glanton age 71, of Thomaston GA, died Wednesday June 13, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Glanton was born April 2, 1947 in Thomaston to the late Emory Newton and Ruby Mae Gossett Glanton. He was retired from Sumter Utilities as a foreman.

Mrs. Gwenda Lee Jenkins, age 75, of Thomaston, died Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Jenkins, born July 27, 1942 in Moultrie Ga. to the late Lawrence and Lois Carter. She retired from Thomaston Health and Rehab and was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Jenkins of Thomaston; sisters, Frances Starley of Thomaston, and Joanne Sledge of Albany. She is preceded in death by her sister, Betty Thrasher.

Mrs. Brenda Faye Gordy Wilson, age 61, of Thomaston Ga, died Thursday, June 7, 2018, at her residence. 

Mrs. Wilson was born October 8, 1956, in Upson County to the late Willis Simon Peter and Agnes Flournoy Gordy. She retired from Memory Gardens in Manchester as secretary and was a member of Thomaston First Assembly of God.

She is survived by her husband, Randy Wilson; daughter, Heather (John) Hanson; son, Brian (Aaron) Wilson; sister, Debra Gordy; sister-in-laws, Kay Paramore and Glenda Wilson; grandchildren, Lindsey Hanson and Laurie Hanson; nephew, Dakota Gordy; and grand dog, Poseidon.

Ms. Martha Ann Slaughter Dorman age 80 of Thomaston GA, died Tuesday June 5, 2018 at Brightmoor Hospice. 

Funeral services will be Thursday June 7, 2018 4:00 PM at Crystal Hill Cemetery. 

Mrs. Dorman was born November 28, 1937 in Upson Co., GA to the late Thomas William and Alma Princella Driskell Slaughter. She was retired from Federal Paper Board with 17 years of service and also served as a Crossing Guard with the Upson County School System. Mrs. Dorman was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Tony Ray Fogarty and his wife Donna of Williamson, GA, sister, Mrs. Shirley Mae Collins and her husband Javan of Thomaston, granddaughter, Mary Beth Harrell and her husband Johnathon of Griffin, GA, niece, Lacy Adams and her husband Kim of Thomaston, great niece and nephew, Brianna and Brandon Adams.

Mrs. Beverly Jean Marr Kennedy age 71 of Thomaston Ga, died Monday June 4, 2018 at Emory University Hospital. 

Mrs. Kennedy was born on May 18, 1947 in Malden Ma, to the late Arthur A. Marr and the late Marjorie Frances Marr. She was formerly employed with the Census Bureau where she worked as a field representative. Mrs. Kennedy was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include her husband Mr. Jimmy Lee Kennedy, sons Mr. Jeffery (Karen) Kennedy, Mr. Bradley Kennedy, sisters Mrs. Janet (Bill) Evison, Mrs. Deborah Beecher, grandchildren Nicholas Kennedy, Madison Kennedy, Gus Kennedy , Calla Kennedy.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday June 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Crystal Hill Cemetery.

MR. DAVID PHILLIP THOMPSON, 74

Mr. David Phillip Thompson, age 74, of Meansville Ga, died Thursday, May 31, 2018, at his residence. 

Mr. Thompson was born on July 17, 1943 in Thomaston Ga, to the late Robert Phillip Thompson and the late Mae Thompson. He was formerly employed with Upson Regional Medical Center where he worked as a Phlebotomist for ten years. Mr. Thompson was of the baptist faith. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Priscilla Fortner Thompson, brother Kenneth Thompson. Mr. Thompson served his country in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his daughters Mrs. Wanda (Craig) Sanders of Meansville Ga, Mrs. Melinda (Todd) Mewbourn of Thomaston Ga, Mrs. Cheri (Wayne) Nix of Meansville Ga. 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.
