Mr. Eddie David “Sonny” Webb, age 83, of Thomaston, died Saturday morning, November 19, 2022, at Upson Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mr. Webb will be held Tuesday, November 22, at 2:00 PM at Mountain View Baptist Church with Dr. Ryan Christopher officiating. Interment will follow the service in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Monday evening at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.
Mr. Webb was born November 9, 1939, in Thomaston, a son of the late Eddie Webb and the late Emma Avery Webb. “Sonny” as he was known throughout Thomaston and around the state, was a barber and the owner/operator of Webb’s Barber Shop. When he began his career at the age of 15, he would have to stand on a Coca-Cola crate to reach his clients. He served his country in the National Guard for six years, the only time during his career that he left Thomaston. In a recent interview, he commented that his busiest days where during ROTC inspections where the cadets would begin lining up at 7:00 AM for a fresh haircut. His career spanned over 67 years. Sonny loved gardening and fishing. He competed in rodeos with horses and enjoyed participating in 5K races. Mr. Webb was a member of Thomaston First Baptist Church.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Nancy Williams Webb of Thomaston; his children, Eddie David Webb, Jr., Tracy (Jason) Wainwright, and Brian (Victoria) Webb, all of Thomaston; his grandchildren, Jordan Wainwright, Jake Wainwright, Landon Webb, Trey Webb, Jaxon Webb, and Blake Webb.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nell Talbird, and his brother, Larry “Duck” Webb.
