Mrs. Joyce Elaine Bounds Richmond

Mrs. Joyce Elaine Bounds Richmond, age 77, of Molena, died Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at her residence.

Mrs. Richmond was born November 20, 1943, in Baltimore MD to the late Charles Newton Bounds and Enice Hall Bounds. She was a registered nurse and member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Charles Richmond; sister, Geraldine Hopper; and brother, Reese Bounds. Survivors are her daughters, Tina (Mark) Harper of Carolton GA and Bonnie Joy Fields of Thomaston; sons, Ed (Kimberly) Richmond of Middleburg FL, Reese (Malu) Richmond of Molena GA, Patrick (Meagan) O'Neill of Green Cove springs FL, and David (Amanda) Edmondson of Thomaston; brother, Shep Edmondson of Thomaston; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and honorary son, Jon-Jon Richardson.

Private memorial services for Mrs. Richmond will be held later.

Mrs. Ruby Shaw Collins Weldon

Mrs. Ruby Shaw Collins Weldon, age 88, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at her residence.

Mrs. Weldon was born on December 9, 1932 in Thomaston Ga. to the late William Harvey Shaw and the late Ruth Denham Shaw. She was formerly employed with Lane Jewelers where she worked in sales. Mrs. Weldon was a member of Thomaston First Assembly of God. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband Perry Collins, second husband Donald Weldon, brother James Edward Shaw, sisters Rachel Jones and Emily Williams.

Survivors include her stepchildren Martha Klocke of Rydal Ga., Linda Jones of Orchard Hill Ga., sister Sarah Fordham of Thomaston Ga., Several Step grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday September 4, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus Ga.

Mrs. Brenda Joyce Hill Adams

Mrs. Brenda Joyce Hill Adams, age 76, of Thomaston, died Monday August 30, 2021, at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Adams was born June 25, 1945, in Junction City GA, to the late Isiah Hill and Estelle Bridges Hill. She retired from the Meriwether Bapitist Hospital as a Registered Nurse and was a member of Clark's Chapel Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Adams. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Suddeth of Thomaston; son, Jason Adams of Indiana; sister, Linda (Sonny) Moore of Thomaston; grandchildren, Ethan Adams and Elizabeth Adams; nephew, Kevin (Amber) Moore; and great-niece, Karoline Moore.

Funeral services for Mrs. Adams will be held Friday, September 3, 2021, at 2:00 Pm in the chapel of Coggins Funeral Home with burial to follow in Southview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 2, 2021, form 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Coggins Funeral Home.

Mr. Wayne Lamar Wheeler

Mr. Wayne Lamar Wheeler age 76 of Thomaston Ga., passed away Friday August 20, 2021 at Perry Hospital in Perry Ga.

Mr. Wheeler was born on January 10, 1945 in Thomaston Ga., to the late Edgar Clayton Wheeler Sr. and the late Thelma Lois Green Wheeler. He worked in the textile industry for 44 years. Mr. Wheeler served his country in the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Sara Frances Weems Wheeler.

Survivors include his son Anthony Wheeler, step daughter Allison (Chris) Raulerson of Eatonton Ga., brothers E.C. Wheeler, Larry (Betty) Wheeler, sister Debbie (Terry) Bridges, 3 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild.

Ms. Darlene Marie Marsh, age 63, of Molena, passed away August 29, 2021, at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Martha Richardson Calhoun

Mrs. Martha Richardson Calhoun, age 69, of Thomaston, died Sunday, August 29, 2021, at the Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Calhoun was born July 6, 1952, in Austel GA, to the late William Pierce Richardson and Ellen Cole Richardson. She was a Office Administrator for Ingersol Rand, and member of Union Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Alisha Calhoun of Hogansville GA and Brantley (Josh) Standard of Thomaston; sisters Shelia Cromer of Lithia Springs GA and Julia Standford of Douglasville GA; sister-in-law, Geneva Richardson of Winston GA; brother, Mack (Vicky) Richardson of Douglasville GA; and grandchild, Tucker Standard. She is precede in death by her brother, Michael Richardson.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Rev. Jerome Stallings, 77, of Thomaston, died Sunday, August 29, at his residence. 

Funeral services for Rev. Stallings will be held on Tuesday, August 31, at 11:00 AM, at the Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home Monday evening, August 30, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.

Rev. Stallings was born on June 6, 1944, in Thomaston, to the late J. B. and Ruth McGraw Stallings. He was a graduate of R. E. Lee Institute. He was a member of the Thomaston Jaycees, having served as past president. Rev. Stallings worked for the Thomaston Police Department, Upson County Sheriff's Office, and the Georgia State Patrol before being ordained into the ministry. He served as pastor of Coleman Baptist Church in Coleman, Oklahoma, Shiloh Baptist Church in Thomaston, The Baptist Mission in Meansville, Georgia, and Jeff Davis Baptist Church in Thomaston. He was a member and ordained Deacon at Trinity Baptist Church in Thomaston.

Rev. Stallings is survived by his wife, Shirley Washam Stallings, of Thomaston; three sons: Jeff Stallings of Thomaston, Chad Stallings of Griffin, and Mayor John David "J.D." Stallings of Thomaston. Three grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Baptist Church Bus Fund, 410 South Church Street, Thomaston, Georgia 30286.

Mr. Danny "Dan" Ray McDonald Jr.

Mr. Danny "Dan" Ray McDonald Jr., age 44, of Thomaston GA, died Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. McDonald was born January 14, 1977, in Thomaston to Danny Ray McDonald Sr and the late Marilyn Martin McDonald. He was owner/operator of Buddy's Produce, and member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Samantha McDonald; father, Danny McDonald; step-mother, Lynn Tucker McDonald both of Thomaston; sons, Jacob (Zoie) McDonald of Thomaston, and Joshua McDonald of Thomaston; sister, Lynn (Squigg) Cummings of Thomaston; step-sister, Michelle Cofer of Meansville; niece, Maddie Cummings; nephew, Tobin Cofer; and his best companion, Luna the German Shepard. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn McDonald.

Graveside services for Mr. McDonald will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at 11:00 AM in Southview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, from 9:30 - 10:30 at Coggins Funeral Home.

Mr. Tim Reeves

Mr. W. Tim Reeves, 60, died Friday, August 27, 2021, at his home after a two-year battle with ALS.

A celebration of Tim's life will be held on Sunday, August 29, at 4:00 PM at the Covered Bridge on Allen Road. A private family interment will be held.

Tim was born in Thomaston to Horace “Melvin” and Barbara Reeves on September 1, 1960. He worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation from 1978 until he retired in 2009.

Tim was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Reeves; mother, Barbara Cochran; daughters, Katherine Cruz (Mario) and Elizabeth Bunn (Kevin); brother, Rick Reeves (Shirley), and grandchildren Colin Cruz, Colby Cruz, Axel Bunn, Jasmine Webster and Paislee Webster. Mrs. Amelia Boyt Chambers

Mrs. Amelia Boyt Chambers, age 60, of Thomaston, died Thursday, August 26, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, GA. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Chambers will be held on Sunday, August 29, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Pastor Rick Moncrief will officiate, and interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Yatesville. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Saturday evening, August 28, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Mrs. Chambers was born in Thomaston on May 30, 1961, to the late George Russell Boyt, Sr. and Margarite Vaughn Davis Boyt. She attended R. E. Lee Institute. Mrs. Chambers worked in restaurant management, and also in the Thomaston-Upson School System with special needs children. She was involved for several years in prison ministry and was always there to assist those in need. Mrs. Chambers was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chambers was preceded in death by her husband, Bentley Jack Chambers, Jr. and a granddaughter, Katlin Chatfield. Survivors include two sons: Michael (Tosha Posey) Chatfield of North Carolina, and Jeremie (Carolyn Patterson) Chatfield of Thomaston; two brothers: Robin (Patsy) Boyt and George Russell (Rosie) Boyt, Jr., both of Thomaston; three grandchildren: Haley (Shane) Johnson of Savannah, GA; Britney Leann Chatfield of Griffin, GA; and Jonathon Chatfield of Savannah, GA; one great granddaughter, Adalyn Johnson of Savannah. Several nieces and nephews, many cousins, and numerous friends also survive.

Ms. Theda Smith, age 58, passed away August 27, 2021, at Piedmont Fayette Hospital.

Mr. James "Jimmy" Thomas Gaultney Jr, age 73, of Thomaston GA, died Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Gaultney was born December 16, 1947, in Thomaston, to the late James Thomas Gaultney Sr and Hazel Head Gaultney. He was a driver for the Thomaston Prescription Shop and member of Smyrna Baptist Church.

He is survived by his fiancee, Connie Frady; daughters, Lindsey (David) Anderson of Thomaston, Faith (Timmy) Brooks of Dahlonega GA; sons, Scott Gaultney of Zebulon, Jeff Booth of Jasper GA, Bryan (Kay) Booth of Dawsonville GA, Hank "Blue" Frady of Dahlonega GA, and Jacob (Christina) Frady of Cumming GA; sisters, Kaye Heath of Conyers GA, carol (Phil) Hammock of Hollandvill GA, and Susan Johnson of Zebulkon; 16 grandchildren; and12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Gaultney Woodall.

Mr. Robert Albert "Rocky" Partain Jr. age 74 of Thomaston Ga., passed away Thursday August 26, 2021 at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Partain was born on August 24, 1947 in Thomaston Ga., to the late Robert Albert Partain Sr., and the late Bartie Hand Partain. He worked as a Telephone Transmission Repair Technician. Mr. Partain was a member of Clark's Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Shirley Partain of Thomaston Ga., son Robert Albert "Robbie" (Deanna) Partain of Denver Co., brothers David (Cindy) Partain of Thomaston Ga., Guerry (Vickie) Partain of Thomaston Ga., grandchildren Tessa Partain, Aliya Partain.

Mrs. Barbara Jean Calhoun Manahan age 87 of Williamson passed away August 24, 2021 at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Manahan was born on September 8, 1933 to the late Warren Robert Allen and the late Edna Mae Pippin Snowden. She was a homemaker and a member of Rehoboth Church of The Nazarene. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband James C. Calhoun Sr. and second husband James E. Manahan.

Survivors include her daughters Deborah Thomas of Griffin Ga., Linda Smith of Molena Ga., Susan Mauney of Riegelwood N.C., son James C. Calhoun Jr. of Griffin Ga., 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren.

MR. GEORGE RANDY STORY

Mr. George Randy Story, age 60, of Thomaston, passed away August 25, 2021. Randy was born in Thomaston, son of the late Oscar Story and Florine Kersey Story. He worked at Martha Mills in Thomaston and Crown Manufacturing in Woodbury for many years. Randy’s favorite pastimes were talking on the phone and eating. He loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Danny Story.

He is survived by his children and their spouses: Jeffery Story of Woodbury, Heather McDaniel of Gillville, Crystal and Tyler Caudell of Clarksville, Jacob and Joelle Story of Zebulon and Jeremiah Story of Thomaston; grandchildren: Bailey, Levi and McKayla Story, Jeshua and Anayah McDaniel, Kaylee and Lane Caudell and Braylynn and Ryver Story; great-granddaughter: Oaklynn Story; sister: Joan Story Coleman of Meansville;

Mr. Timothy Lee Anglin

Mr. Timothy Lee Anglin, age 62, of Meansville, Ga passed away Monday, August 23, 2021 at Wellstar Spalding Regional Hospital.

Mr. Anglin was born on November 4, 1958, in Thomaston, to the late Bobby Lee Anglin, and Sara Stewart Anglin. He worked as a mechanic and truck driver, and he was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Mindy Anglin, and grandchild, Chase Anglin.

Survivors include his mother, Sara Anglin of Thomaston, spouse, Christy Anglin of Meansville, first wife, Theresa Anglin of Meansville, daughter, Marsha Jackson of Meansville, brothers, Tracy Anglin of Meansville, Terry (Carol) Anglin of Thomaston, sister, Tyane (Michael) Presley of Meansville, and grandchild, Heather Jackson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Crystal Hill Cemetery. MRS. DIANE MARIE GUETH

Mrs. Diane Marie Gueth, age 69, of Perry, GA, died Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Emory University Hospital.

Mrs. Gueth was born on May 13, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late John Frush and the late Emma May Busick. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Louis Gueth.

Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Cole of Atlanta, Brian Gueth of Macon, brother, Robert Howard Busick of Maryland, sisters, Karen Frush of Maryland, Jo Ann Frush of Maryland, and neice, Joan Nelson.

MR. BENJAMIN HOWARD AMERSON JR.

Mr. Benjamin Howard Amerson, Jr., age 94, of Meansville, passed away August 22, 2021, at the GA War Veterans Home in Milledgeville. 

Mr. Amerson was born in Thomaston, son of the late Benjamin Howard Amerson, Sr. and Eunice Shuman Amerson. He was a 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and woodworking. Mr. Amerson was a good Christian man and a devoted member of Mt. View Baptist Church in Thomaston.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nadean Reason Amerson.

He is survived by his step-daughter: Gail Sanders (Mike) of Meansville; step-son: Kenny Wilson of Thomaston; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 26, 12:00 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Christopher officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens in Thomaston.

Friends may visit the family on Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Ray Robins, age 80, passed away August 22, 2021, at his daughter's residence.

MR. RANDALL SCOTT HARRIS

Mr. Randall Scott Harris age 58 of Thomaston Ga., passed away Saturday August 21, 2021 at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Harris was born on April 15, 1963 in Barnesville Ga., to the late Jimmy Douglas Harris and the late Vicky Sams Ross. He was employed with the Georgia Department of Transportation where he worked in the Asphalt Division. Mr. Harris was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister Janet Tucker.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Deena Coggins Harris of Thomaston Ga., daughter Mrs. Britney Harris (Cody) Ellington of Milner Ga., son Mr. Jimmy Ray (Christy Costley) Harris of Thomaston Ga., sister Mrs. Wanda (Mark) Hendrix of Toccoa Ga., grandchildren Zackary Harris, Brantley Ellington, Kristen Ellington.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday August 26, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mrs. Rebecca Killingsworth Brooks age 77 of Thomaston Ga., passed away Saturday August 21, 2021 at Riverside Health and Rehab.

Mrs. Brooks was born on August 19, 1944 in Greensboro N.C., to the late David Killingsworth and the late Allie Willis Killingsworth. She was formerly employed with Upson Regional Medical Center where she worked in Medical Records as a Clerk. Mrs. Brooks was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Glynn Brooks.

Survivors include her daughter Mrs. Wendy (Todd) Chambley of Thomaston Ga., sister Mrs. Patricia (Harry "Junior") Harvell of Thomaston Ga., grandson William Tyler Pinks.

Mr. Joseph (Joe) Clinton Crayton

Mr. Joseph (Joe) Clinton Crayton, age 74, of Fayetteville, passed away August 19, 2021, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin. Joe was born in Zebulon, GA, son of the late James Garland Crayton, Sr. and Martha Juanita Bennett Crayton. He graduated from Pike County High School in 1965, where he excelled in sports. He then earned his Bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southwestern College. Joe taught Physical Education Career Exploration (PECE) for Clayton County School System, where he also coached girl’s basketball and football, retiring after 30 years. He was an excellent and avid golfer.

Mrs. Mary Ann Reid Gray age 84 of Sharpsburg Ga., formerly of Yatesville passed away Tuesday August 17, 2021 at her residence.

Mrs. Gray was born on October 18, 1936 to the late Arthur Joe Reid and the late Daisy Grace Parrish Reid. She worked as a hairdresser for many years. Mrs. Gray was a member of Kings Chapel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by husband William Benjamin Gray.

Survivors include her daughter Mrs. Toni (Clark) Spence of Newnan Ga., son Mr. William Joseph (Glenda) Gray of Sharpsburg Ga., brother Mr. Jarrell (Barbara) Reid of S.C., sisters Mrs. Sue (Steve) Gaddy of Winder Ga., Mrs. Patty Petty of Ft. Mr. Albert "Cal" Harris, age 71, of Thomaston, died Saturday August 14, 2021 at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Harris was born on September 10, 1949 in Thomaston, to the late William Charles Harris and the late Thelma Jewel Knight Harris. He worked at Standard Textile as a Supervisor, and was a member of Clarks Chapel Baptist Church. Mr. Cal served his country in the US Army National Guard. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Kay Welch Harris, brother, Phillip Harris.

Survivors include his daughters, Michelle Padovani of Hampton, Melanie Harris of Thomaston, brother, Randall (Sandy) Harris of Barnesville, grandchildren, Calli (Justin) Raybon, Abrym Martin, Kymbl Fulcher, Tatum Padovani, Autumn Padovani, Brynli Martin, and great-grandchild, Alijah Puckett.

John Paul Mitcham Jr., age 55, of Thomaston, died Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Upson Regional Medical Center.

John was born on October 14, 1965 in Baldwin County, to the late John Paul Mitcham Sr. and Mable Parker McDonald. He worked at Quad Graphics. He is preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother, Mable McDonald of Thomaston, step father, David McDonald of Thomaston step mother, Nancy Mitcham of Milledgeville, daughter, Fancy Marie Mitcham of Thomaston, son William Danny Brock Mitcham of Thomaston, brother, Shaun (Ryan) Mitcham of Milledgeville, sisters, Karen Robinson of Thomaston, and Lisa Reynolds of Milledgeville.

Ms. Emerald (Emmie) Brooke Fields

Emerald (Emmie) Brooke Fields, age 22, of Milner, passed away August 13, 2021, at Spalding Regional Medical Center. Emmie grew up in Pike County, graduating in 2017 with honors from Pike County High School, where she excelled in the STEM program. She was about to begin her senior year at Kennesaw State University, majoring in English. It was Emmie’s dream to become an Editor. She was already editing dissertation papers at KSU. She was an avid reader and often called a bookworm. Emmie enjoyed traveling the world. Among her favorite places were Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Fiji, and the Bahamas. She loved God and her church, Christ Chapel in Zebulon.

Emmie was preceded in death by her Big Daddy and her Uncle Ronny Fields.

She is survived by her parents: Marie and Chris Fields of Milner; sisters and a brother: Raven Paige Fields of Milner, Hannah Coley of Molena and Dakota Gordy of McDonough; grandparents: Janie Ward of Milner, and Linda and Steve Chadwick of Griffin; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 16, at 11:00 a.m., in Christ Chapel Church. Pastor Billy Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Moody Memorial Gardens.

MRS. MARGARET LOUISE PETERS WALKER

Mrs. Margaret Louise Peters Walker, age 82, of Zebulon, passed away August 12, 2021, at her home. She was born in Williston, Florida, daughter of the late Otis Peters and Edith Eva Douglas Peters. For 32 years Mrs. Walker was an operator and then a supervisor for the telephone company, retiring from Verizon. She was a faithful member of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church in Zebulon. She loved to read recipes and her Bible.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Alfred Lloyd Walker and her brother, Otis C. (Sonny) Peters.

She is survived by her daughters: Renee Walker of Zebulon and Michelle Favelle of Auburndale, FL; grandchildren: Shannon Chancey, Micca Simmons, Jay Fedele and Kaylee Floyd; six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; step-granddaughters: Emilee Jacoby and Ashlee Mullenix; and several nieces and nephews.

MR. JOE C. KING

Mr. Joe C. King age 96 of Thomaston Ga., died Thursday August 12, 2021 at Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin.

Mr. King was born on December 1, 1924 in Spalding County, to the late Joe Henry King and the late Ida Bell Norris King. He served our country in US Army during WW II, he then went on to work at Thomaston Mills where he later retired. Mr. King was a faithful member of Clark's Chapel Baptist Church for 60 years. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Selph King, brother, Tink King, granddaughter, Whitney Paige Grim, and sister, Fay Rupert.

Survivors include his daughter, Sheila (Bobby) Lentz of Snellville, son, Danny (Joy) King of Warner Robins, 2 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Margaret Rawlins

Mrs. Margaret Eleanor Miller Rawlins, age 96, of Griffin, in Pike County, passed away August 12, 2021, at her home. Mrs. Rawlins was born in Lake Wales, FL, daughter of the late Fred Miller and Zola Teel Miller. Her father was a handyman and moved the family often. She spent her early years in Griffin, graduating from Griffin High School. Mrs. Rawlins was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and were proud to say that they had “pleasure driven” in every state in the nation. Mrs. Rawlins enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading and watching the animals in her yard. For many years she attended Zebulon United Methodist Church.

In additional to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Rawlins.

She is survived by her children: Brenda Turner and her fiancé Tim Wood, and Howard “Buddy” Rawlins Jr. all of Zebulon; grandchildren: Michael Turner and wife Heather of Clayton, Nik Turner of Zebulon and Brigit King of OK; great-grandchildren: Reagan, Ty, Kiley, Carmen, Crispin, Eli, Kayla, Lauren, Miranda, John and Lily; sister-in-law: Darlene Rawlins of Zebulon; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 22, at 4:00 p.m., in Zebulon United Methodist Church, 212 Griffin St, Zebulon, GA 30295. Pastor Arianna Eberle will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Fred Dale Jordan, age 77, of Thomaston, passed away August 12, 2021, at Brightmoor Hospice.

Mr. Roger Dale Spillers, age 54, of The Rock, passed away August 12, 2021, at his home. He was born in Griffin, son of the late Maurice Spillers and Margaret Jeannette Cagle Spillers. Roger enjoyed his job as a truck driver for 15+ years. He attended Pine Mt. Holiness Church in Meansville. He liked to camp and he loved his dogs. He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 31 years: Penny Spillers; daughters: Jennifer Fowler and husband Patrick of Thomaston, Minnetta Spillers and fiancé Gary Ferguson of The Rock and Heather Johnson of Griffin; grandchildren: Levi Jones, Harley Johnson and Leonard John Fowler.

Mr. Jeremy Michael Rapholtz, age 41, of Concord, passed away August 12, 2021, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Jeremy lived most of his life in Pike County. He worked in construction and also for Caterpillar in Griffin. He enjoyed working in the yard and spending time with his daughter, Brianna. He was an avid GA Bulldog fan and collector of Bulldog memorabilia.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Viola Youngs and uncle and aunt, Jack and Ann Sharp.

 Mrs. Mary Sue Higgs Bailey age 86 of Thomaston Ga, died Tuesday August 10, 2021 at Westbury Center of McDonough for Nursing and Healing.

Mrs. Bailey was born on March 22, 1935 in Upson County, to the late Charles Franklin Higgs, and the late Elvie Alline Deloach Higgs.  She was a homemaker and a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Malvin Bailey.

DEE PARROTT

Dianne Carter Parrott might have been her legal name, but she was much better known as “Mama Dee” to her loving husband Greg, “Mom” to her two sons Matt and Blake, “Nonnie” to her grandbabies Irie, Grayson, and Oakes, but most people knew her as “Miss Dee”. She lived for putting smiles on the faces of anyone she met and that made them feel like family. Her biggest joys were being at the ball field with her boys, Fresh Air Friday’s with her Big Daddy, and enjoying a Christmas Hallmark movie, regardless if the plots were the same.

Dee isn’t survived by anyone, she won the race! Instead, she is up in Heaven preparing one amazing meal with her Mom for the rest of us down here. This includes her husband Greg Parrott, son Matt Still (and his wife Ginny), son Blake Parrott, sisters Debora Avery, Cheryl Casarow, Kerrie Monti, and Terry Ivie, father Dave Englett, and many, many friends.

A service to celebrate Dee’s life will be held on Saturday, August14, 2:00 p.m., at Christ Chapel Community Church in Zebulon. Pastor Billy Smith will officiate.

MRS. EVELYN COATES WILBORN

Mrs. Evelyn Coates Wilborn age 78 of Thomaston Ga., died Sunday August 8, 2021 at her residence.

Mrs. Wilborn was born on June 28, 1943 in Upson County to the late Margaret and Butch Coates. She worked as an insurance clerk for various doctors offices in Thomaston, Griffin, Jackson, and Barnesville for 30 plus years. Mrs. Wilborn loved to cook, her family was her life, and she loved Jesus. She was a member of Thomaston First Assembly of God. She is preceded in death by parents; the love of her life her husband Sonny Wilborn; her son Todd Wilborn; and her sister Faye Wimpling.

She is survived by her daughter Donna (Perry) Bartlett of Thomaston Ga., her son Neal (Shelley) Wilborn of Meansville Ga., her grandchildren Justin (Whitney) Bartlett of Ca, Jamie (Oscar) Bautista of Ca and Kaitlyn Wilborn of Meansville Ga. Great Grandchildren Aunica, Zoe,Jackson,Henry, and Olivia of Ca, and numerous nieces and nephews.

MR. JERRY COLWELL

Jerry Colwell went home to be with the Lord on August 7th. Born and raised in Pike County, Jerry always loved the place he called home. He was a people-focused person who loved to laugh. Jerry owned several businesses getting his start with Middle Georgia Water Systems and held many civic involvements and church affiliations, but he is probably most known for his charitable and generous heart. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, a trusted and loyal friend, and a generous and gracious man.

Jerry Clifford Colwell was born in Pike County on September 10, 1949, to J.C. Colwell Jr. and Ann S. Colwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Rae Ann Hitson, brother-in-law Travis Hitson, and his beloved wife Kaye C. Colwell.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sara Beth Colwell, his sister Kay Guy (Al), and his brother Dan Colwell (Nancy). Jerry was blessed by his children, Karri Anne Colwell, Kayla McLeRoy (Dee), Kevin Colwell (Natalie), Shane Turner (Shannon), Shannon Mullinax (Bert), and Trent Turner (Kristin), fourteen grandchildren, Emily Colwell, Kade McLeRoy, Marlee Colwell, Levi Colwell, Camryn Turner, Cole Turner, Abigail Carter (Blaze), Holly Turner, Turner Mullinax, Carter Mullinax, Lily Turner, Cashton Turner, and Conner Turner, and one great-grandson, Aiden Carter. Jerry is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Jerry Colwell was greatly loved, and he will be missed greatly by all who loved him.

WENDY ROBERTA FULLER

Wendy Roberta Fuller, age 67, of Zebulon, passed away July 28, 2021. Wendy was born in Massachusetts, daughter of the late Wendell Fuller and Violet Fuller. In her early years, Wendy worked at Sparkles Skating Rink in Riverdale where she was affectionately known as “Skate Mom.” Later she took a job at Quik Trip Convenience Store in Atlanta until she retired. Wendy was a TV shopper, enjoyed watching Golden Girls, Game Show Network and Hallmark channel. She bought birthday and Christmas presents months ahead of time. She adored her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Wendy loved to sit on the front porch, watch her farm animals and small planes as they flew over her home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wendell Philip Fuller.

She is survived by her children: Phillip Andrew Gaganis and wife Samantha Gaganis of Concord and Jennifer “Jenny” Redding and husband David Joshua Redding of Zebulon; grandchildren: Charlsie Ann Gaganis, Callie Naomi Gaganis, Savannah Rose Norris, Chloe Savannah Romano, Cameron Gaganis, Michael Chase Redding, and Joshua Jayce Redding.

MRS. STELLA ANNE ROWE MYERS

Mrs. Stella Anne Rowe Myers, of Thomaston, died July 30, 2021, at her home. Ms. Myers was a native of Hagerstown, MD and graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1943. She lived in Huntsville, AL from 1956 until March 2005. She was a retired civil service employee, retiring from Redstone Arsenal in Alabama.

Mrs. Myers was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald W. Myers, her parents, Julia Prudence Shank Rowe and Ira Walter Rowe, a brother, D. Lloyd Rowe (Neddie) and sisters, J. Louise Schnebly (Roy), Leila R. Shank (Lewis), Mary R. Couchman (John), I. Winifred Guch (Steve), M. Lethean Rowe, and Helen R. Rawls (Richard).

She is survived by three nieces and three nephews.

It was Mrs. Myers’ wish to be cremated and no services are planned.

MRS. LORETTA WEEKLEY

Mrs. Loretta Weekley, age 84, of Griffin, passed away August 1, 2021. Loretta was born in Lynch, KY, daughter of the late Fred Joe Muse and Kathleen Kinder Muse. She was an antique dealer who loved history and antebellum homes. Her favorite things to do were reading, traveling, and filling her farmhouse with treasures, which she affectionately called “the old home place”.

Those who knew her would describe her as a character—one who often seemed lost in a world all her own. She could often be found singing in her kitchen, telling stories on her front porch, or tending to her peonies. Her passion and uniqueness was an inspiration to her friends and family, and she will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents and three of her sisters, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Freddie Stancil.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years: W.D. (Bill) Weekley; sons: Harold Stancil II and wife Robin of Los Angeles, CA, Russell A. Stancil of Dallas, GA, and David T. Stancil of Marietta, GA; daughter: Allison Bass of Cumming, GA; brother: William J. Mrs. Wendy Lee Stanley, 59, of Yatesville, GA, died Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Eternal Hope Hospice - Hope House in Griffin, GA. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, July 22, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. MR. ROY WORLEY GREGORY

Mr. Roy Worley Gregory, age 70, of Thomaston, died Saturday, July 31, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Gregory was born on October 24, 1950, Guntersville, Alabama, to the late Troy Worley Gregory and the late Madge Colquitt Gregory. He worked in textiles and construction. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Gregory of Thomaston, daughters, Amanda (Joey Bruce) Craft of Thomaston, Candy Gregory of Thomaston, sons Chris Berry of Denver, Colorado, Mitchell Wright of Riverdale, Georgia, sister, Irene (John Moody) Gregory of Thomaston, and six grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the American Liver Foundation at P.O. Box 299 West Orange, NJ 07052.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Shirley Anne Craft, age 84, of Thomaston, died Saturday, July 31, 2021, at her residence.

Mrs Craft was born July 6, 1937, in Thomaston, to the late Tom Barfield and Susie Mae Williams. She was a homemaker and member of Pine Mountain Church of the Nazarene.

She is preceded in death by her parents. survivors are her husband, James Craft Sr; daughter, Teresa (Eddie) Duke of Thomaston; son, Jim Craft of Thomaston; brother, Danny Barfield of Thomaston; 4 grandchildren, Jordan (Laura) Craft, Justin Craft, Catlin (Hayden) Richmond, and Trey Duke; 3 great-grandchildren, Sophie Craft, Corbin Craft, and Thea Grey Richmond.
