STANFORD O'NEAL CRAWL

 Stanford O’Neal Crawl, better known as “Neal,” was the son of the Debbie Sue Drain-Atwater and the late Willie Lee Womble-Crawl. He was born on February 4, 1974, in Upson County, GA. He attended Upson High School and Flint River Technical College, where he earned his General Educational Diploma. Although slowed by several mental obstacles in his life, Neal never lost his enjoyment of making people laugh and having a heart of gold. On Saturday, November 20, 2021, the Lord called him home to rest.


His spirit took flight and now united with his grandmother, the late Mrs. Winnie Lee Drain. He will be sorrowfully mourned by many, which includes: Ms. Debbie Sue Drain-Atwater (mother) of Thomaston, GA; Ms. Arlinda Nicole Steele (sister) of Ellenwood, GA; Trenetria Linya Steele (niece) of Smyrna, GA and Louise Womble (grandmother). In addition, he has a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and neighbors that will miss him dearly.


Memorial Services will be held on Saturday December 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. from Worthy Gym at 235 MLK Jr. Drive Thomaston Ga. 30286. The family will receive friends at the gym following the service.

MR. JAMES WAYNE REEVES

 Mr. James Wayne Reeves, age 73, of Griffin, passed away November 28, 2021.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 3, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Moody officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin.

Friends may visit the family on Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

 

 

ROBIN ANNETTE WHITE

 Robin Annette White, age 49, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away November 15, 2021, at her home.  Robin was born in Logan, West Virginia, daughter of the late Willard Frye and Marjorie Aileen Canterbury. She was adopted at an early age by her grandparents, the late Bennie White and Laura Bryant White. Robin worked at Signal 88 Security in Albuquerque and also with the City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation.  She was a free-spirit and renowned in the pet rescue circles for her untiring devotion to her four legged friends. She was an advocate for all animals and an advocate for the disenfranchised. Always ready to offer a helping hand with a loving heart.

Robin was an awesome artist as well. She made a beautiful and huge impact on all of the lives she touched, and she was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She wore her heart on her sleeve and would give her last dime to anyone who needed it. She loved selflessly.

She is survived by half sisters: Melissa Sue Frye Hannah and Penny Beth Frye both of West Virginia.  She had a great affection for her great aunt Florida White, of Forest Park, GA, who was like a mother to her and always considered her a fellow “Gypsy Girl.”  She is also survived by her great aunt Theora Fillinger of West Virginia. Numerous cousins are left to cherish her memory, she had a special fondness for:  Cheryl White Rogers of Jackson, GA, Tammie White Smalley of Forest Park, GA, Larry White of Portland, TX, Scott Frye of NC and Brian and Monica Cox of VA; and her beloved dog Rocket, who was her companion and traveling buddy for 12 years. She also leaves behind a host of the most amazing and devoted friends to treasure her memory.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., in Moody Memorial Gardens.  Her cousin, Larry White will officiate.

MR. RICHARD MICHAEL FORSYTH,SR.

 Mr. Richard (Rick) Michael Forsyth, Sr., age 73, of Milner, passed away November 28, 2021. He was born in Columbus, GA, son of the late Charles Forsyth and Willie Mae Eurkhart Forsyth.  Rick worked as an accountant for the Federal Bureau of Prisons for many years before retiring. He enjoyed annual fall trips to the Smokey Mountains and Pigeon Forge. He was an excellent photographer and especially liked taking pictures of barns, covered bridges and landscapes. Rick was an avid bowler and secretary/treasurer of his league in Fayetteville called “moving on”. Rick was well loved and will be greatly missed.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Helen, Elizabeth, Ouida, Anita, Robert and Glen.


He is survived by his wife: Bobbie Forsyth; children: Richard (Rick) Michael Forsyth, Jr. (Brandi) of Phoenix, AZ, Chris Forsyth (Dawn) of Lexington, GA,  Stephanie Owen of Milner, GA and Craig Fincher (Jessica) of Eatonton, GA; grandchildren: Scott Owen (Heather), Brandon Owen, and Ellie Fincher; great-granddaughters: Eleara Owen and Raya Owen; many nieces, nephews, and friends.


A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home.  A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Simon officiating.

MRS. SARAH ANN WAINWRIGHT GORDY

 Mrs. Sarah Ann Wainwright Gordy, age 62, of Thomaston, passed away November 24, 2021, at Upson Regional Medical Center.  She was born in Thomaston, daughter of the late Lonnie Eugene Wainwright and Sarah Duncan Wainwright.  Ann worked in food service and vending for Martha Mills and Five Star Food Service.  She was a hard worker. Ann enjoyed going to yard sales and she made the best tomato gravy.

She is survived by her husband: Benny Gordy; son: Joshua Ray Mercer (Lindsey); grandson: Mason Mercer; brother: Lonnie Wainwright.

It was Ann’s wish to be cremated and no services are planned.

MRS. MARTHA JO BELL

 Mrs. Martha Jo Bell, age 87, of Thomaston, died Monday, November 22, 2021, at her daughter's residence.

Mrs. Bell was born July 24, 1934, in Upson county to the late Harvey and Addie Dawson Sanders. She retired from the William Carter Company and was a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents: husband, Carlos Bell; sister, Barbara Parker; and grandchild, Tyler Hoyal. Survivors are her daughters, Judy (Jim) Adler and Terrie Hoyal both of Thomaston; grandchildren, Robin Phillips (David Willis), Heather (Jonathan) Butts; and Jill (Bobby) Roberts; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Phillips, Trey (Hannah) Dunnahoo, Rachel Cato, Melissa Cato, Walker Butts, and Hannah Butts.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Upson Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Coggins Funeral Home.

MR. RICKY JOE FULLER

 Mr. Ricky Joe Fuller, age 64 of Thomaston Ga, died Friday, November 19, 2021 at his residence.

Mr. Fuller was born on September 8, 1957 in Thomaston to the late George Oscar Fuller Jr. and the late Glendine Owens Fuller.  He worked as a carpenter and was a member of Elkins Creek Baptist Church.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Fuller of Thomaston, son, Joe (April Hall) Fuller of Thomaston, brother, Bryant Fuller of Thomaston, sisters, Janet Salter of Thomaston, Brenda Maddox of Thomaston, Vicki Smith of Manchester, and grandchildren, Ella, Emma, and Dawson Fuller.

MR. JULIAN ROY BAUGHCUM

 Mr. Julian "Roy" Baughcum, age 84, of Thomaston Ga., died Monday, November 15, 2021 at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Baughcum was born on March 4, 1937 in Thomaston,Ga. He was born to the late Hiram Baughcum and the late Thelma Smith Baughcum.  He worked as a manager at Atlanta Dairies and was a member of Vega Community Church.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Jean "Sissy" Baughcum, brothers, Aaron Baughcum, Doug Baughcum, Bentley Baughcum, and Howard Baughcum.

He is survived by his daughter Cathy McDaniel of Thomaston, sons, Jay Baughcum of Monroe ,Jimmy (Susan) Baughcum of Decatur, brother Floyd Baughcum of Thomaston, grandchildren, Nick (Leeann) McDaniel, Carrie Anderson, Jo Hutchison, Jessica (Ryan) Elliott, Jordan (Courtney) Baughcum, Kaylee Baughcum and 12 great-grandchildren.

MRS. CAROLE ANN FRANKLIN

 Mrs. Carole Ann Franklin age 79 of Thomaston Ga., died Monday November 15, 2021 at West Georgia Hospice in Lagrange Ga.

Mrs. Franklin was born on June 9, 1942 in Thomaston, to the late Ray N. Blount, and to the late Susie Mae Wagner Blount.  She was a small business owner and a member of The Rock Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Ray N. Blount Jr. and Jerry Allen Blount.

Survivors include her husband George William "Billy" Franklin of Thomaston, daughters, Rhonda (Mike) Brown of Thomaston, Lori (Brett) Lee of North Carolina, Ginger (David) Rider of LaGrange, son, Andy (Kimberly) Franklin of Thomaston, nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

MRS. BARBARA JANE JOHNSON TICE

 Ms. Barbara Jane Johnson Tice, age 79, of Zebulon, formerly of East Point, passed away November 10, 2021.  Barbara was born in Atlanta, daughter of the late Albert Johnson and Mittie Lane Johnson. She worked as a bookkeeper for a family business, Tice & Sons Trucking Company for 25 years. She was a long-time member of the East Point Church of God and enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt Silvey Lane.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Shawn and Camille Tice of Jackson; daughter and son-in-law: Kathy and Tom Craig of Meansville; grandson and his wife: Stephen and Callie Tice of Jackson.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 15, at 2:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Cemetery in East Point. Pastor Edgar Waters will officiate.

MRS. HAZEL BRIDGES YOUNG

 Mrs. Hazel Bridges Young, age 85, of Yatesville, died Thursday, November 11, 2021, at her residence in Yatesville GA.

Mrs. Young was born on August 26, 1936 to the late Homer Van and Velma Lee Bridges. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a member of Kings Chapel Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, caring for their cattle farm, and keeping up with her great grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her son Chester Edward Young of Yatesville Ga., brothers Eddie Bo Bridges, Franklin Bridges, Preston Bridges and sisters Jewel Farr, and Suzanne Doggett.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 69 years, Mr. James Edward Young, daughter Mrs. Kitty Young (Steve) Kendrick of Yatesville Ga, sister Mrs. Bonnie Kate Corley, granddaughter Mrs. Jami (Lorenzo) Delacruz and their children Seth,Luke, and Ashley, grandson Mr. Josh (Sarah) Ellington and their son baby Warren, great granddaughter Miss. Aliyah Hicks, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Susan Johnson Whitmire, age 83, of Thomaston, died, Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Sunny Grove Assisted Living Center in Barnesville Ga.

Mrs. Whitmire was born on March 23, 1938 in Laurens County Ga., to the late Clint Johnson and the late Lougenia Senn Johnson. She owned and operated the Tasty Freez and also Whitmire's Restaurant. Mrs. Whitmire was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Edward Asbury Whitmire.

Survivors include her sons Alan (Dinah) Whitmire of Thomaston Ga., Brad (Laurie Ann) Whitmire of Thomaston Ga., grandchildren Daniel (Jennifer) Whitmire, Paul Edward Whitmire, Nickolaus Bradley Whitmire, Rachel Nicole Whitmire (Hunter) Clark, great grandchild Lucy Marie Whitmire.

MR. JAMES TED HELMS

 Mr. James Ted Helms age 84 of Atlanta Ga., died Tuesday November 9, 2021 at his sister's residence.

Mr. Helms was born on August 8, 1937, in Thomaston, to the late Henry Aldine Helms, and the late Marion Dean Helms.  He was a registered X-Ray Technologist and a Laboratory Technician, he was employed by the state for 34 years.  He received his training at Grady Hospital in Atlanta.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Sylvia Helms Tucker, and brother, Lamar Helms, all from Thomaston.

Survivors include his twin brother, Fred Helms, brothers, Sammy Helms, Tim (Deanna) Helms, sisters, Pam (David) Boyt, Elizabeth Helms Hewett both of Thomaston, and Brenda Helms Barfield of Zebulon.  Ted is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nephews and nieces.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from Southview Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Friday, November 12, 2021 from 1:00 p.m-2:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home

MR. ROBERT LARRY CATO

 Mr. Robert “Bob” Larry Cato, age 74, of Molena, passed away November 7, 2021, at his home. Bob was born on June 11, 1947, son of the late Waymond Cato and Lucille Sosby Cato.  He worked for MARTA for 30 years before retiring. He was part-owner of Bobrick Enterprises LLC, a rental property management business. Bob was a devoted member and Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Thomaston Ward. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, building model cars and railroad and being with friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Marcia Cato and infant son Christopher Cato.

He is survived by his daughter: Katie Gordon (Stephen Whaley) of Molena; grandchildren: Monica Gordon, George Gordon and Kyle Kapp; brother: Steve Cato of Meansville; nephew Don Cato (Kim); nieces Skylar Cato and Hayden Cato; and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home.  A private burial will follow in Moody Memorial Gardens.

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

MRS. RUTH HELEN SHIVERS BRIDGES

 Mrs. Ruth Helen Shivers Bridges, age 96, of Williamson, passed away November 7, 2021, at her home.  She was born in Griffin, daughter of the late Joseph Henry Shivers and Biddie Green Shivers.  Ruth and her husband, Hammett, operated the Concord Bargain Store for many years. She also worked in the meat department at Publix. Ruth was active in the Forever Young Club and worked in the Canteen as a volunteer at local blood drives.  She enjoyed short vacation trips.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Hammett Bridges and her son-in-law Wm. (Whitey) Rhodes.

She is survived by her daughter Patricia Rhodes of Williamson and her adopted loving Hatchett family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home with Pastor Thomas Lee officiating.  Burial will follow in Moody Memorial Gardens.

MRS. LINDA F. BOOTH

 Mrs. Linda F. Booth age 74 of Thomaston Ga. died Thursday November 4, 2021 at her residence.

Mrs. Booth was born on July 9, 1947, on Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late Mary Benton Fox.  She worked as a Security Guard at Upson Regional Medical Center.  In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her brother, Hilton Roughton Jr., niece, Kim Wilson, and cousin, Pat Boomhower.

Survivors include her son, David Wayne Roughton, sisters, Mary Ann Roughton of Thomaston, Carol Ussery of Thomaston, nephews, Preston Wilson, Scott Wilson, cousins, Theresa, Irene, Herb, uncle, Eddie Boomhower, and best friend, Nancy.

It was Mrs. Booth's wishes to be cremated and her family will have celebration of life  at a later date.

 Mr. Roy Monroe Bryant, age 76, of Thomaston, died Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Bryant was born on March 31, 1945, in Thomaston, to the late Monroe Bryant and to the late Martha Jones Bryant Gibson.  He worked in construction and was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Doug and Martha Gibson.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Sellars Bryant of Thomaston, daughter, Faye (Danny) Mewbourn of Thomaston, son, Bo Bryant of Thomaston, grandchildren, Barbie (Will) Stevens, Keline (Anne) Jones, Stella Woolf, LeeRoy Jones, Sean (Angel) Bryant, Josh (Chasity) Bryant, and 10 great-grandchildren.

MRS. JOANN ESSEX HAMPTON

 Mrs. JoAnn Essex Hampton, age 73, of Covington, passed away October 27, 2021, at Piedmont-Newton Hospital. She grew up in Chattanooga, TN, daughter of the late William Andrew Essex and the late Mary Katherine Parker Essex.  JoAnn loved arts and crafts, everything from painting to drawing. She could make anything out of nothing. JoAnn was blessed to have her wonderful family at Grace Baptist Church in Covington. She loved to give and to shop with her friends from her church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dell Hampton, brothers, David Essex, William Essex, Leroy Essex.

She is survived by her children: Stephanie Byrd, Wayne Byrd (Amanda), and Michelle Clanton; grandchildren: Zachary Byrd, Keyondra Clanton, Roderick Clanton, Raquez  Clanton, and Rodney Clanton, and many great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Becky Cope (Donny), Joyce Powell, Libby Anderson, Rosa Petty (Bill), Donny Essex, Bobby Carpenter and Larry Essex.

A family memorial service is being planned.

 Mr. Tony Keith Henderson, age 60, of Zebulon, passed away November 1, 2021, at his home.  He grew up in Pike County, son of the late Lee Henderson and Laverne Goen Henderson. He was a 1979 graduate of Pike County High School. Tony was a veteran of the United States Navy.  He enjoyed riding his Harley and he was a great fisherman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Henderson.

He is survived by his sons: Anthony Shane Henderson of Sharpsburg and Andrew Keith Henderson and wife Andi of Carrollton; grandchildren: Mason Lee Henderson, Dylan Boyd, and Shelby Boyd; brother: Ronny Henderson of Bristol, VA; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins.

A family memorial service will be held.
