MRS. EMMA DORIS LITTLETON HALE

Mrs. Emma Doris Littleton Hale, age 96, of Thomaston, died Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Harborview Health and Rehab.

Mrs. Hale was born on September 27, 1921 in Forsyth Ga, to the late John Littleton and the late Emma Susie Cato Littleton. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Hale was a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd W. Hale and daughter Mary Jean Christopher.

Survivors include her daughters Mrs. Martha Smithey of Jonesboro Ga, Mrs. Linda (John) Breffle of Duluth Ga, Mrs. Connie Jo Miller of Thomaston Ga, sons Mr. Floyd Randall Hale of Thomaston Ga, Mr. John Wayne Hale of Thomaston Ga, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday October 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Flint River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Sunday October 1, 2017 from 1-2 p.m.

MR.WILLIE RAY FOGARTY

Mr. Willie Ray Fogarty, age 79, of Thomaston Ga, died Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at his residence.
Mr. Fogarty was born in June 19, 1938, Pike County to the late Raymond and Mary Edna Fogarty, and spent most of his life in Thomaston. He was a 1957 graduate of Robert E Lee Institute and a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a firefighter for the Georgia Forestry Commission. He retired from the City of Thomaston Water Dept. as a systems analyst after 29 years of service. He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, and he was a skilled custom knife maker.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Donna Fogarty of Williamson; granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Fogarty Harrell of Griffin; and sister; Elsie Watson of Thomaston. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 

Graveside services for Mr. Fogarty will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 4:00 PM in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 30, 2017 form 2:00 - 4:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Ray Fogarty Memorial Fund, 321 Hannahs Mill Rd. Thomaston GA 30286.

MRS. MOLLY WIDDOWS JONES

Mrs. Molly Widdows Jones, age 83, of Thomaston Ga, died Monday, September 25, 2017, at Providence Health & Rehab in Thomaston.

Mrs. Jones was born April 24, 1934, in Cambridge England to the late Harold Widdows and the late Phyllis Smith Widdows. She was a member of Moline Gospel Temple in Moline IL.

She is survived by her daughter Sandy (Bill) Doud of East Moline IL; son, Dave Jones of East Moline IL; sisters, Betty Widdows, and Cynthia Cross both of England; grandchildren, Matt Seeselt, Mitch Frymann, Brian Doud, and Kyle Doud; great-grandchildren, Abrialla Frymann, and Harper Seeselt.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.

REV. CLINTON ARTHUR GIBBY

Rev. Clinton Arthur Gibby age 83 of Thomaston Ga, died Saturday September 23, 2017 at Brightmoor Hospice. 

Rev. Gibby was born on June 6, 1934 in Cherokee N.C., to the late Arthur Gibby and the late Maebell Graves Gibby. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. Rev. Gibby served his Lord and Savior as a minister.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Mae Gibby of Thomaston Ga, daughters Mrs. Sheila Moore of Thomaston Ga, Ms. Tina Gibby of Thomaston Ga, Mrs. Valerie (Alex) Leverett of Zebulon Ga, sons Mr. Justin (Tammy Greear) Gibby of Thomaston Ga, Mr. Keith Gibby of Thomaston Ga, brothers Mr. Dean (Peggy) Gibby of Commerce Ga, Mr. Bobby (Betty) Gibby of Byron Ga, sisters Mrs. Kathrine (Charles) Tucker of Williamson Ga, Mrs. Kristine Sapp of South Georgia, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday September 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home.

MR. CHRISTOPHER ROY BELL

Mr. Christopher Roy Bell, age 56, of Thomaston, died Monday, September 18, 2017, at the Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Bell was born September 21, 1960, in Upson County to the late Roy and Jackie Bell. He was a Journeyman Electrician for the IBEW, and member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Bell of Thomaston; daughters, Mandi Bell of Thomaston, and Christin Rowland of Naples Fl; sister, Justine Greene Thomaston; brother, Jason Bell of Thomaston; 4 grandchildren, Lexi, Blake, Dominic, and Belle.

Graveside Services for Mr. Bell will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Elkin's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

MR. WALTER EUGENE WALTERS

Mr. Walter Eugene "Gene" Walters, age 79, of Thomaston, died Sunday, September 17, 2017, at his residence.

Mr. Walters was born August 31, 1938, in Scotland County NC, to the late Will and Lela Langley Walters. He was owner/operator of WILCO Sales and Service in Thomaston, member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Eagle Scout, Mason, Shriner, and U.S. Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Walters; daughters, Eugenia Walters of Stockbridge Ga, Debra (Kenneth) Bryant of Carnesville Ga, Denise Redd of Douglasville Ga, and Alicia (Joey) Johnson of Forest Park Ga; sons, William (Natalie) Waltersof Forest Park Ga, Mickey (Sandra) Stephens of Griffin Ga, Tim (Angela) Stephens of Thomaston; sister-in-law, Ann Walters of Laurel Hill NC; grandchildren, Brandon Walters, Jessica (Ryran) Traylor, Justin (Melissa) Stephens, Joshua Redd, Melissa Redd, Heidi Stephens, Mickey Stephens, Angel Johnson, and Michelle Johnson; great-grandchildren, Ryla Traylor, Hudson Traylor, Tyler Stephens, Abigail Stephens, Allison Stephens, Anthony Johnson, Isabella Johnson, Brantley Hayden, and Madison Jones. MRS. MARY "TOOTSIE" JUANITA WHITE

Mrs. Mary "Tootsie" Juanita White, age 84, of Thomaston, died Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin GA.

Mrs. White was born January 25, 1933, to the late George and Erma Morris. She retired from the Thomaston Mills as a Winder.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas "Bo" White; and foster daughter, Marjorie Taylor. Survivors are her foster children; Mary (Larry) Blount of Thomaston, Brenda Jones of Hawkinsville, Andy White of Macon, Charles (Brenda) White of Bonaire, Steve White of Warner Robbins, and Johnny White of Macon, 17 foster grandchildren; 37 foster great-grandchildren; 19 foster great-great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services for Mrs. White will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Southview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 16, 2017, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Coggins Funeral Home.

FORMER SCHOOL BOARD CHAIR HELEN SALTER

Helen Lucile Forbus  Salter died Saturday, September 2, 2017 at her residence.

She was born May 5, 1925 , to Lucile R and William B. Forbus in LaGrange (Troup County) Georgia.  She relocated to Thomaston at the age of seven, making her it and Upson County her home for the remainder of her life. 

Helen was a loving mother and grandmother to many. In her early years she worked full time as a bookkeeper by trade and she served her community as a member of the Upson County Board of Education becoming the first woman elected as Chairperson. Helen was a graduate of R.E.Lee and attended Bessis Tift College in Forsyth. She  married the love of her life, Hughlette H. Salter and they had eight children. She was a woman of  faith and prayer, passing along a rich heritage to her family and community as she embodied an attitude of humility, service and love.

 Helen was predeceased by her brother, Robert Forbus, her parents, Lucile and Bonner Forbus, her beloved husband, Hughlette Salter, two sons, Michael, Pat; daughter, Susan. She is survived by her sisters, Joyce F. Bailey of Winter Haven FL, Anne (Joel) Stowers of Athens GA; her children and their families: daughters, Theresa (Al) Medcalf, Melissa (Steve) Fowler both of Thomaston, Katrina (Patrick) Salter- Wood of Hawkinsville GA; sons, David (Sheila) Salter, Bob Salter, son-in-law, Joe Moon, all of Thomaston, GA; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Graveside services will be at 11am, Monday, September 4th, 2017,at the Salter Family Cemetery, David Road, Thomaston, Georgia. The family will receive friends after the service at graveside.
