Douglas F. Robinson

Mr. Douglas F. Robinson, age 87, of Pike County, passed away November 19, 2022, at his home.  Mr. Robinson was born in Louisiana, son of the late George Robinson and Lily Mae Ottwell Robinson. After graduating from high school, he attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute in Lafayette, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. He then enlisted and served in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged and in 1958, he took a job with Coca Cola operating a traveling laboratory. He settled in Louisiana where he worked as Head Chemist for many years before being transferred to their Atlanta plant in 1987. He retired after 33 years of service to the company.  

Mr. Robinson dearly loved his home and farm in Pike County, where he bred and raised Saddlebred and Quarter horses. He also gardened and was a beekeeper. He was a faithful and long-time member of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church in Zebulon.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Yvonne Bissonette Robinson, his son, Michael Robinson, daughter, Mary Bryars, and aunts Lela McDowell and Grace Kline.

 

He is survived by his sons: Douglas Robinson and Ronald “Ronnie” Robinson; granddaughter: Crystal Robinson Corley (Brian Corley); great-grandchildren: Skyler, Braden, Grayson and Bella; brothers: Raymond Robinson (Shirley) and Jimmy Robinson; sister: Frances Ladd; many nieces and nephews.

 

Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, November 22, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. 

 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 23, at 1 p.m., in Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, 970 McKinley Road, Zebulon. Pastor Mark Dix will officiate. Burial will follow in Moody Memorial Gardens.

 

Mr. Robinson will be taken to the church 1-hour prior to the service to lie-in-state.
