MRS. FRANCES CARTER STARLEY

Mrs. Frances Carter Starley, age 75, of Thomaston, died Monday, April 29, 2019, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin.
Mrs. Starley was born August 29, 1943, in Peach County to the late Mack and Lois Carter. She was a self employed day care provider and was of the baptist faith.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James E. Starley. Survivors are her daughter, Christy (Chad) Holliman of Thomaston; sister, Joann Sledge of Albany; sister-in-law, Peggy Gleaton of Thomaston; granddaughter, Chasity (Ryan) Parker of Butler; beloved dog, Sadie; granddog Colt; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Gwenda Jenkins, Betty Thrasher, and Judy Kent; and brother, Bobby Gleaton.
Funeral services for Mrs. Starley will be on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.

MR. HENRY SANDEFUR

Mr. Henry Sandefur age 60 of Kennesaw Ga, died Saturday April 20, 2019 at his residence.
Memorial Services will be Monday May 6, 2019 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Private family interment will follow.
Mr. Sandefur was born January 28, 1959 in Thomaston, GA to the late John L. and Ruth Gaddy Sandefur. He was a graduate of the Art Institute, retired as SGT with 30 years of service with the Clayton Co. Sheriffs Department. He also worked 3 1/2 years in Kosovo with CPI training police officers and in 2011 he was a Disc Jockey with WJGA FM in Jackson, GA
He is survived by his sister, Lee Ann McCullough and her husband Lynn of Jonesboro and a special nephew, Clayton T. Hawkins and his wife Jenni of Decatur.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at Coggins Funeral home.

Mrs. Retha Nell Baughcum age 78 of Thomaston Ga, died Wednesday April 24, 2019 at Providence Health and Rehab.
Mrs. Baughcum was born on October 7, 1940 in Barnesville Ga, to the late Dewey Thomas McGouirk and the late Evelyn Vanmeter Duke. She was formerly employed with Thomaston Mills where she worked in the Weave Shop for 41 years. Mrs. Baughcum was a member of Silvertown Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Doug Baughcum and son William Douglas Baughcum.
Survivors include her brothers Mr. Larry McGouirk, Mr. Richard (Peggy) McGouirk, Mr. Tommy (Kay) McGouirk, sisters Mrs. Antoinette Jones, Mrs. Millie Savage, grandchildren Mr. Derek Baughcum, Mr. Kalen Puckett, Mr. Brady Puckett.

MRS. CLAIRE H. WARREN

Mrs. Claire H. Warren, 79, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019 at
her home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Warren will be held on Thursday, April 25th, 2019
at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Thomaston with Rev. Bill Barber
officiating.  Burial will follow in South View Cemetery.  The family of Mrs.
Warren will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Wednesday from
6:00 until 8:00 pm.
Mrs. Warren was born in Thomaston on October 29th, 1939, a daughter of the
late Marvin H. and Agnes Dawson Holloman.  She was a 1957 graduate of R. E.
Lee Institute and a 1959 graduate of West Georgia College.  She was a
retired bookkeeper for Rogers Cash n Carry.  
Mrs. Warren was a member of the First Baptist Church and served as Sunday
School teacher for the Explorers class.
Mrs. Warren is survived by her husband, Laverne Warren; two daughters, Julie
(James) Galt of Marietta and Lori (Carl) Bissantz of Newnan; a son, Jeff
(Kaye) Warren of Culloden; a sister, Jane Huckaby of Thomaston; six
grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents she
was preceded in death by a brother, Allan Holloman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist
Church, 208 South Church Street, Thomaston, GA 30286.

MR. BERNARD MURLE WILSON

Mr. Bernard Murle Wilson age 91 of Thomaston Ga, died Sunday April 21, 2019 at his residence. 
Mr. Wilson was born on August 18, 1927 in Grantville Ga, to the late Homer L. Wilson and the late Sarah Payne Wilson. He was formerly employed with B.F. Goodrich where he worked as a Data Processing Manager for 36 years. Mr. Wilson was a member of Clark's Chapel Baptist Church where he served as deacon for many years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Johnnie Mae Wilson, daughter Connie Wilson Philpott, sisters Lois Cole, Paulene Wood, brothers Doug Wilson, H.C. Wilson, Ford Wilson, George Wilson.
Survivors include his son Mr. Mark (Wanda) Wilson of Thomaston Ga, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Wanza Glenn Myers Jones, age 103, of Thomaston, died Sunday, April 14, 2019, at the Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston.
Mrs. Jones was born on August 3, 1915 in Greeneville Tn, to the late George Washington Myers and the late Mary Etta Dulaney Myers. She was a homemaker and seamstress. Mrs. Jones was a member of Smiths Grove United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Doyle Jones.
Survivors include her daughters Mrs. Lynville Crabtree of Sweetwater Tn, Dr. Sharron Jones of Thomaston Ga, son Mr. Anthony G. (Carol) Jones of Plano Tx, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild.

Mr. David W. Hand age 70, of Thomaston died Tuesday, April 9, 2019  in San Antonio, Texas.
Funeral services will be Thursday April 18, 2019 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Interment service will be 2:00 PM at Andersonville National Cemetery Andersonville, GA with military honors.
Mr. Hand was born December 23, 1948 in Fayetteville, GA to the late Julian and Alberta Huckaby Hand. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was retried from the Spalding Co., Fire Department in Griffin, GA.
Mr. Hand was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Cecil Hand.
Survivors include his wife Gayle Hand of Thomaston, daughters, Amanda Hand of Thomaston, Martha O' Kelley of Jackson, Judith King of Marietta and Gloria Morris of Panama City, FL, son, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Christopher Hand of Oceanside, CA, sisters, Edith Hall and her husband Harvey Louise Ogletree, Mary Smith and her husband Ernest and Connie Hand, sister-in-law, Ibbie Hand, 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Harris was born on July 27, 1952 in Thomaston Ga, to the late William Charles Harris and the late Thelma Knight Harris. He worked for the Upson County Road Department for many years. Mr. Harris was an avid Georgia Tech and sports fan.

Mr. Harry Ray Griffis Jr.

Mr. Harry Ray Griffis, Jr. age 97 of Thomaston Ga, died Friday April 12, 2019 at Providence Health and Rehab.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Griffis was born February 20, 1922 in Detroit, MI to the late Harry Ray and Lillie M. Griffis, Sr. and grew up in Silver Creek, NY with his sister Erva. He married Edith May Finch September 10, 1942 in Buffalo, NY and was married for 68 years.
He served in the United States Army Air Corp in 1943 during WW II, worked as a mason and moved to Miami, FL in 1956 where he worked as a Engine Inspector for the airlines.
Mr. Griffis was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a daughter, Pamela Rider.
Survivors include his daughter, Gail Lynn Griffis, son-in-law, DeWayne Rider, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Myrtle McLeod, age 81, of Thomaston, died Monday, April 8, 2019, at Spalding Regional Medical Center in Griffin, GA.
Graveside services will be Thursday April 11, 2019 2:00 PM in Southview Cemetery.
Mrs. McLeod was born March 1, 1938 in Decatur Co., GA to the late Ralph Rich and Omie Ola Ritter Rich Andrews and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Barnesville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Ralph and Ben Rich and a sister, Elsie England.
Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Pitts and her husband Richard of Thomaston and Jackie Wilson and her husband William of Griffin, three grandchildren, Michael Storey and his wife Jackie, Madison Morris and her husband Brock and Heather Wilson.

Mrs. Heaton was born on November 16, 1930 in Griffin Ga, to the late Eason Bond and the late Annie Bell Dorsey Bond. She worked for Loving Care Nursery for many years and was a member of Pritchett Memorial Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband James Alvin Heaton, daughter Angela Howell, sisters Imogene Anderson and Lorene Bond.

Mrs. Frances Jones Nipper age 94 of Thomaston Ga, died Saturday April 6, 2019 at Upson Regional Medical Center. 
Mrs. Nipper was born on August 4, 1924 in Talladega Al, to the late Timothy L. Jones and the late Irene Hurst Jones. She was a 1942 graduate of R.E. Lee Institute. Mrs. Nipper was formerly employed with The William Carter Company where she worked as a supervisor for 27 1/2 years until her retirement. She was a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church and also a member of the Upson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. Mrs. Nipper enjoyed crocheting hats for infants at the hospital. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Royce J. Nipper and son in law Clayton Simmons.
Survivors include her daughter Mrs. Jan Simmons of Thomaston Ga, grandchildren Andy Simmons, Blake (Lauren) Simmons,  great grandchild Jack Simmons.
