Mr. Doyle Lee Dawson, age 57, of Palmetto, passed away October 30, 2022. He was born in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, son of the late Ronald Lee Durden and Helen Gilina Romo Durden. Doyle graduated from Leilehua High School, Wahiawa, Hawaii in 1984 and was an award-winning football player for the Mighty Mules. He was a veteran of the United States Marie Corp. He worked at Yamaha in Newnan, GA, but most of Doyle’s career was spent selling cars. He worked at Kelly Buick GMC and Red Hoagland Hyundai, both in Winter Haven, FL. Doyle could often be found fishing, playing pool, singing karaoke, and playing cards with family. His passion was singing for the elderly at nursing homes. He was a ham with a microphone in his hand and quite the entertainer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Duane Dawson Jr., and brother-in-law, Norman Guffey.
He is survived by his sisters, brothers, and their spouses: Kay Guffey of Centerville, IA, Jimmy Dawson of Kaneohe, HI, Danny & Kathy Dawson of Pace, FL, Jerry Dawson of Nashville, TN, Tommy Dawson of Stockbridge, GA, Bobby & Cindy Dawson of Haleiwa, HI, Bonnie & Ceasar Edra of Hilo, HI, Cheryl Hayes of Palmetto, GA, Johnny (J.D.) & Kim Dawson of Concord, GA, Sandy & Johnny Sales of Stockbridge, GA, Ronnie & Cecilia Durden of Kennesaw, GA, and Shelia Dawson of Crestview, FL. Many many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may visit the family on Saturday, November 19, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the funeral home. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home with Pastor Cole Smith officiating.
