Mr. William “Bill” Edward Carver, age 90, of Williamson, passed away January 31, 2023, at his home.
Mr. Bill was born on August 11, 1932, to the late Edwin and Sankie Carver. He grew up in East Griffin alongside two younger sisters. Mr. Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Bill wed Beatrice Carver and the couple had three children. The family lived happily in Griffin until Beatrice’s passing in 1989. Mr. Bill was married to Shirley Carver in 1993 and the couple settled in Williamson. Mr. Bill worked as a nighttime shift supervisor at Dundee Mills #5 for over 30 years until his retirement.
Mr. Bill was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church in Griffin. He loved farm life and being outside in his garden. Over the years he raised cows and other farm animals. He also liked to fish and go camping. Mr. Bill enjoyed traveling, particularly to the mountains. More recently, Mr. Bill watched wrestling, baseball, and truck pulls on television.
Along with his parents, Mr. Bill was preceded in death by his wives, Sara “Beatrice” Carver and Shirley Eubanks Carver, and sister, Martha Butler.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Mike and Ruth Carver, Debbie and Gregg Brown and Susan and Jeff MacDonell; grandchildren: Crystal (Randy) Presley, Abby, Liberty and Cassidy MacDonell; great-grandchildren: Bradley, Mackenzie and Madison Presley; sister: Millie Carver; sister-in-law: Sarah Lawrence.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, February 3rd in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Griffin Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family between 5 and 7 PM on the evening of Thursday, February 2nd at the funeral home.
