Mr. Shiflet was born on November 10, 1923, in Upson County to the late Carl Shiflet, and the late Leila Augusta Massey Shiflet. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Ed is a retired Captain from the Thomaston Fire Department with 30 years of service and worked at Eason Motors doing body and fender work. He was an EMT Ambulance Driver and worked for Coggins Funeral Home for numerous years. He was the first ever to receive the Valor Award for the Flash Flood Rescue in April 1982. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ward Shiflet; son, Steve Shiflet; sisters, Carolyn Pitts, Ruth Kennedy, and Louise Lynch, and grandchild Kaylee Shiflet
Survivors include his daughter, Allison (Rod) Henderson of Athens; son, Bruce Shiflet of Brunswick; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 16, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.
