Jane was a loving wife and mother who loved her family, her church, and her community. She frequently volunteered at the Women’s Center. She also loved to serve her church and she loved spending time with her family and was very involved with the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted caretaker to her husband of 69 years for the last twenty years of his life.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Elijah F. McKinley and Jewel Caldwell McKinley; her in-laws, Roy C. Harkness Sr. and Lucille Ayers Harkness; her husband, Roy C. Harkness Jr.; her sister-in-law, Margaret Harkness; her eldest son, Michael R. Harkness; and her son-in-law Eric N. Pline.
Jane is survived by her brother-in-law, James L. Harkness; her children, David Keith Harkness and Julie Harkness Pline; her grandchildren, Emily Moore and husband Joe, Stephen J. Pline and wife Gigi, Joshua N. Pline, David J. Pline and wife Katelyn, Benjamin D. Pline and wife Sarah, Samuel E. Pline and wife Julianna, Jacob N. Pline and wife Leah, Caleb S. Pline and wife Tiffani; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Moody-Daniel Funeral Home on Highway 19 in Zebulon, Georgia. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. to noon with the service being held at noon. The graveside service will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Zebulon. Pastor Matt Hensley will officiate.
The family requests donations be made to Gideon’s International or the children’s ministry at First Baptist Church in Zebulon in lieu of flowers.
Moody-Daniel Funeral Home will assist the family with arrangements.
