Joseph "Joe" Delmar Cunningham

Mr. Joseph "Joe" Delmar Cunningham age 73, of Eatonton, Georgia, died, Monday, April 3, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Cunningham was born on March 12, 1951 in Ottawa, Illinois, to the late Robert F. "Pork" Cunningham, and the late Elizabeth McDougal Cunningham.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death his step mother, Jo Ann Cunningham, brother, Bob Cunningham.  He served in the Army JAG Corps in Germany during the Vietnam War.  In his early career he worked as a newspaper publisher in Albany, Georgia before moving to the Atlanta area to work for The Gwinnett Daily News, The Rockdale Citizen and the Atlanta Journal Constitution.  He worked as a women's basketball official for 40 years and also umpired men's college baseball and women's college volleyball.  Joe was a very proud, life long die-hard cubs fan.

 

Survivors include his wife Kristi Kilgore Cunningham, daughters, Stephanie Ranae (Scott) Cunningham Hall, Kelsi Elizabeth Cunningham, siblings, Carol (Mike) Monterastelli their children, Mark and Tony, Diane (Pat) Whalen, their children, Shawna (Dustin) Beleckis, grandson, Jake Beleckis, Bill (Rene) Cunningham, their children, Carissa (Nathan) Kessel, Mark (Nora) Wisniewski, their children, Bree and James, Cathy Wisniewski, Laurie (Mark) Teter, Jim "Jimmy" (Therese Friedeman) Cunningham, grandchildren, Taylor (Chris) Jordan, great granddaughter, Paislee Dean Jordan, McKenzie "Rae" (Chris) Crans, Karlie (Kyle) Wojton, great grandson, Zev Wojton, Dylan Hall and Teresa Hall.

 

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. from Heartland Acres at 333 Harmony Rd. Eatonton, GA. 31024.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Lunch will immediately follow the service, where sandwiches, lunch trays, sides and drinks will be served.  The family as requested that the dress attire be "Cubs Casual", to honor Joe the family will be wearing their Cubs gear, red, blue, white, or your favorite sports/baseball team gear.
