Mr. Sams was born on June 14, 1942, in Taylor County, Georgia, to the late Willie Lee Sams, and the late Tera Blackston Sams. He worked for Thomaston Mills and Peerless before retirement and was a member of Emanuel Baptist Zebulon. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife Sylvia June McCard Sams of Thomaston, a son, daughter, a sister, three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and his best four-legged friend, Abby.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home. The family will have a private service at a later date.
