Frances Virginia Ferguson Trice

Mrs. Frances Virginia Ferguson Trice, age 73, of Thomaston, died Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Atrium Navicent Health in Macon, GA.  

Funeral services for Mrs. Trice will be held Sunday, August 20, at 2:00 PM, at the First Baptist Church of Thomaston.  Rev. Bryan McPherson, Rev. Ted Kandler, and Dr. Steve Ferguson will officiate, and interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Saturday, August 19. Mrs. Trice was born on October 25, 1949, in Thomaston, to the late Hulon Ferguson and the late Betty Torbert Ferguson.  She was a 1967 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute, and earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in education from West Georgia College. 

 

Mrs. Trice was retired from the Thomaston-Upson School System with 34 years of service as a kindergarten and first grade teacher.  She was named Teacher of the Year for the school system in 2002 and was a finalist for the Georgia Teacher of the Year.  She was a supervisor for students enrolled in the teacher education program at Gordon State College.  Mrs. Trice was an member of the Thomaston-Upson Retired Educators Association, the Thomaston-Upson Arts Council, and the Upson Historical Society.  She was a member of  the First Baptist Church of Thomaston where she was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class, served in Vacation Bible School, and worked with preparing boxes for Operation Christmas Child.   Mrs. Trice is survived by her husband, Ed Trice, Jr. of Thomaston; a daughter, Allison Trice of Winder, GA; two sons, Bryan (Laurie) Trice of Warner Robins, GA, and Benjamin (May Park) Trice of San Francisco, CA; two sisters: Connie (Doug) Lawyer of Austin, TX, and Gay (Don) Raybon of Thomaston; two brothers: Dr. Steve (Angie) Ferguson of Hartwell, GA, and Kelly (Julie) Ferguson of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren: Brandon Trice, Lillie Kate Trice, Blake Trice, Tyson Randle, and Hulon Trice.  Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
