Jerry was born on December 19, 1954, in Atlanta, son of the late Bennie McElwaney and the late Isabell Shaw McElwaney. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired as Operations Manager with Dixie Plywood, where he worked for over 38 years. He loved being on his tractor and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Eddie and Terry McElwaney, and Wanda Long.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Velda McElwaney; daughter, Karen Medina of Zebulon; son and daughter in law, Benny and Jennifer McElwaney of Milner; grandchildren, Jerry, Addy, Macey, Sophia, and Serenity; special nephew, Steven Crawford; several other nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 5-7 PM, at the funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 1:00 PM, in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Gardens in Tyrone.
