Mrs. Elaine M. Dingler, age 77, of Thomaston, passed away February 6, 2023.
Elaine was born on May 24, 1945, to the late James and Marguerite McKissick. She grew up in the Thomaston area alongside her brother, Ted. Elaine graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1963. On December 24, 1967, Elaine married Thomaston native David Dingler. During the 1980’s, Elaine worked at Tara Fabrics, a bustling fabric store in the heart of Thomaston. She went on to work at a local custom framing shop for several years before becoming a full-time homemaker. Elaine cared for her husband, her home, and her garden for the remainder of her life.
Elaine was proud of her flowers and her garden that tended to so carefully. While she loved growing flowers, she also enjoyed painting them. Elaine had a heart for crafting, painting, and sewing. She loved music of many genres including classical, country, and classic rock. She and her husbanded attended around 100 concerts together. She even sang in a band during her high school days. Elaine was a longtime member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Elaine will be remembered for her deep love for family and dear friends.
Along with her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her infant sister, Mary Alice McKissick, and brother, James “Ted” McKissick.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, David Dingler, and many special nieces and nephews including Mark and Sherry McKissick.
The Dingler family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Benjamin Williams and his staff at Upson Regional Medical Center as well as the staff of Harbor View Nursing Home for the compassion and respect shown to Elaine during her final weeks of life. A private family ceremony will be held in Elaine’s honor at a later date. The Dingler family is being assisted by Moody-Daniel Funeral Home.
