Roxie Gail Shipp Avery

Mrs. Roxie Gail Shipp Avery, age 77, of Thomaston, passed away December 17, 2022, at home surrounded by her family.  She was born in Talbotton, daughter of the late Simon Peter Shipp and Alice Miller Shipp.  She graduated from the University of West Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. Gail taught high school science for 20 years.  Later in life she became a cosmetologist. She enjoyed tennis and walking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Avery, and sisters, Charlotte Shipp, and Martha Ann Shipp Bailey.

 

She is survived by her sons: Chad Parker (Karen) of LaGrange, Dr. Kirby Parker (Christina) of Montgomery, AL and Burt Parker (Joy) of Thomaston; grandchildren: Gabe Parker (Krystle), Caleb Parker (Grace), Rose Greenwood (Joel), Liz Burrow (Jack), Kate Parker, Ryan Parker, Ruby Parker, Evan Parker, Malachi Parker, Lottie Parker, Elli Parker, Ben Baily (Maddie), Gideon Parker, Merrily Parker, Know Parker and Tynley Parker; great-grandchildren: Alice Bailey, Margaret Bailey, Christopher Burrow and Henry Bailey.

 

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, December 23, at 3 p.m., at The Rock Baptist Church, 4663 Barnesville Hwy., The Rock, GA.  Rev. Burt Parker will officiate.
